Deviled eggs with smoked salmon & clam chowder
    Kimberlee N.

This is a cute tiny little restaurant with tiny little tables inside. I think next time I would sit outside but it wasn't uncomfortable inside just a little loud for my taste. Ok the deviled eggs were perfect. The smoked salmon on them was really fun & kicked them up a notch. & the clam chowder was perfection! So creamy & tasty! 100% would come back here for the deviled eggs & the clam chowder. The whole roasted crab had garlic, herbs & capers on it. Sounded & looked like the crab would be very flavorful but honestly it just wasn't. It was pretty lackluster. It lacked that seafoodie goodness. We would not order this again. Overall a nice small spot with some tasty food for not a bad price either.

I'm actually very displeased with this establishment. I came here for the Chase Sapphire Preferred X Infatuation promotion (Spend $150 at a participating restaurant and get $75 credit back). Given the price point, I probably would not have come here, had it not been for this promotion. For 3 people, we ended up spending ~$130 and I tipped the rest to hit the $150 minimum in order to get the credit back. However, the restaurant put 149.04 as the grand total after tip. Why? I have absolutely no idea. Why would they short themselves of a bigger tip? Either way, I didn't end up getting the credit back from Chase because I needed the merchant to send me a copy of the receipt (the one that I KNOW I wrote $150 on) Lo and behold, this restaurant does not accept phone calls and they do not respond to their emails. On top of that, the food is not great either. Nothing here impressed me. They ran out of clam chowder, which I was most excited for, by the time I was seated. Their outdoor seating is practically in the middle of the sidewalk. The burger was so so lame. I really have no good things to say.

I came here yesterday in a group of 6 in search of some oysters, and the oysters were honestly my favorite. They were super fresh and tasty. However, I do think this place is overrated for the prices. I ordered the fish and chips which were a bit bland and a small portion for the price. I also tried their clam chowder which would not recommend since it was so watery and not flavorful imo. The guy who sat us down was also being weird about seating us inside and wanted to sit us outside in the rain. I suggested we can take the two separate tables inside and it would be fine if we split up, but he didn't seem to want to accommodate us. It wasn't the most friendly service at first, but once we ended up sitting inside our actual server was great. Overall, the service and food was just okay to me. I'd recommend coming here for happy hour

Popi's Oysterette provided solid food, great service, and excellent on-street atmosphere. They are family friendly to boot! We visited for lunch and ordered the cioppino, fish and chips and Manila clam pasta. All the dishes were good but nothing stood out as game changing. If I had to comment about 1 thing, I felt the clam pasta was a bit too salty to my liking. It was a lovely day for outdoor dining and people watching on Chestnut St. This was the highlight of the experience. If you're in the area and have a hankering for seafood, give them a try!

This ended up being a great stop after a stroll along Chrissy Field. The Marina area is a nice place to wander around, lots of people walking, biking and running along the water, or just hanging out. We grabbed a mix of oysters and they had a pretty decent variety. The Kumamoto definitely stood out, clean, sweet, and creamy. Food was good and service was attentive. The space itself is bright with a casual vibe. It feels lively but still relaxed. They have outdoor seating, which is perfect on a nice day, especially if you just came from walking along the water and want to keep soaking up the sun a bit longer.

Nice for happy hour! Came here on a friday afternoon, no reservation- was a bit crowded but we were able to be easily seated as a party of 2. Because it was happy hour, we focused on that menu, but they gave us their specials and standard menus as well. We ordered half a dozen oysters, mussels, and fries, plus a rose and espresso martini. I thought the fries and drinks were the best parts. I was really excited for the oysters, but they were honestly way too fishy with a bad after taste. I'm glad we only got half a dozen rather than a full dozen. The mussels were a lot better than the oysters, though a little small and some of the mussels in the bowl lost their meat (so it was just the hard shell taking up space). The rose and espresso martini drinks were good - the espresso martini came in a simple cup, not a martini glass, which was a little strange, but the drink itself was great. The fries were solidly delicious. Overall, I think I would come back here for happy hour to grab a bite and drink with friends. I don't think I would get oysters again, but other things on their menu make up for it.

Cute spot to stop for lunch if you are exploring around the area. We came by on a Monday afternoon and got seated right away. Shared a dozen oysters, the Dungeness crab roll, and the Manila clams with pasta. The Kumamoto oysters were easily my favorite, super fresh, creamy, and a little sweet. The clams and pasta were light and really flavorful, and the bread was perfect for soaking up all the sauce. The crab roll was just okay, not a ton of crab and a lot of lettuce taking up space. Honestly, the fries were the highlight of that dish. They reminded me of McDonalds fries, light and crispy on the outside with a soft inside. They also have happy hour deals, but we got there a little too early to catch them.

This spot is so cute and the vibes are so fun here! It is a little pricey, but what can you expect from this type of restaurant and in the marina neighborhood? The seafood was definitely fresh so highly recommended! The service was nice. We walked in for two and got seated right away. Everything came fairly quick.

Such a lovely little date night spot in the Marina! We came here for a cozy night out and were really impressed. The oysters were fresh and briny, the clam chowder was rich and comforting without being heavy, and the pasta was genuinely incredible. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The space is intimate and charming, perfect for an easy, relaxed date night. Great food, warm atmosphere, and a neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger a bit longer. Would absolutely come back for another date night!

The raw oysters at Poppis in the Marina are an absolute must-order! Plump, fresh, and briny, they arrived beautifully presented with cocktail sauce, a zesty herb mignonette, and lemon. The outdoor seating made it even better. pure SF vibes. 10/10!

Cute and clean corner spot with solid service serving very fresh tasting seafood. They were very professional with the oysters (no sand/broken bits, good amount of juice), came with a nice selection of toppings. The Maine lobster roll and the Dungeness crab roll were both very filled with nice big chunks that were not rubbery. Sauce wasn't overly mayo/cloying, still refreshing. Bread was excellent. Thin fries were piping hot and crispy. Obviously, SF prices and not exactly the stuffed to the bursting brim type of rolls we use to get back in the east coast but solid for a legit clean seafood restaurant in the city.

    Fish and chips. Yum.

So glad I found this place. What a great addition to the Marina. Seafood is amazingly fresh and tasty. Oysters, creamy and bright. Best fish and chips around. And the salads are large, equally balanced and full of seafood. It's become my favorite seafood house. And for lots of others too, as they are consistently busy. Wait staff is accommodating and pleasant

Popi's has been one of the top places I've been wanting to check out for over six months now. A friend and I decided to try it one day since there was a deal on InKind, $30 off purchase of $100 or more on Mon-Wed. On a Wednesday around 5 p.m., the place was pretty empty. Happy hour is offered from 3-5 p.m. Mon-Fri. We started from the HH menu with two glasses of the cava brut ($8 each), a dozen chef's selection oysters ($12 for half dozen) and an order of fries ($7). The oysters were pretty fresh but one tasted a bit off. There was also some sand in a couple of others. The fries came with a 'fancy' ranch which tasted exactly like tartar sauce. We moved onto the main menu a little while later. We decided to split the popcorn shrimp ($14.50) and crab louie salad ($36.50). The shrimp was a much bigger size than other popcorn shrimp I've had and came with the tail on, battered and fried. It had a good crisp and a fair amount of batter. The server who was friendly and quick had the kitchen split the salad for us. The salad tasted light and refreshing with a decent amount of crab, but a bit odd that every piece of lettuce was coated in olive oil with the thousand island dressing on the side. Popi's has a few outdoor tables. Inside is quaint and cozy. By the time time we left around 7 p.m., we were the only patrons, which is out of the ordinary for this part of the city. We left a 20% tip with our meal and the restaurant also tacks on an additional automatic 7% service charge, which they do for employee benefits (per the menu). It was an average experience overall but disappointing for me as I had really high expectations for the place that has been on my list of top want to visits for so long.

And the service matches that energy perfectly: polished, warm, and present without hovering. And don't skip the cocktails. They're a core part of the experience. Their version of an Espresso Martini was my favorite of the night... and I'm not even a coffee drinker. Foodwise, everything was paced beautifully. We started with their playful "smoke break," a crunchy seaweed cigar stuffed with sweet Dungeness crab and caviar. The agnolotti was filled with ricotta and goat cheese, layered with Burgundy truffle and mushroom, and tied together with an aromatic onion porcini consommé. Warm malted pretzel bread came next with a silky Mornay sauce topped with caviar and mustard for dipping. The brandade of salted cod with light, airy whipped potatoes disappeared in a few spoonfuls, and the dry-aged kampachi mosaic, paired with truffle purée and finished with uni béarnaise and more truffle, was one of those bites you pause for. The highlight was the two-part course: matsutake chawanmushi with crab dashi and browned butter, paired with unbelievably tender abalone finished with a sauce made from its own liver. Closing: Bar Crenn isn't about big portions or spectacle. It's about intention, atmosphere, and a rare level of refinement that still feels welcoming. If you're looking for a special night that feels transportive from the moment you sit down, this is absolutely worth the reservation. 5 stars.

Space is beautiful, low lights, wood paneling, velvet seats, a very relaxing but elegant design. Drinks: Mizuwari - good, this is prebatched and carbonated upon service, nice light fruity flavors with a light sparkling effervescence, whisky definitely more in the background, didn't pick up much floral in this one either but enjoyed it Arlequin - good, nice creamy foamy texture from the egg white, nice acidity, with subtle berry notes, and a whisper of scotch in the finish, a very unique take on a whisky sour Baxter - boozy and on the sweeter side, with a strong cognac flavor in the finish, fruity upfront, a slow sipper Food: Nori Rolls: great, loved the fresh Dungeness crab within the crispy nori shell almost like a wafer texture with just a little bit of rice to hold it together, grab was sweet with a subtle saltiness, chives added a burst of light delicate onion flavor, came with two small pieces per order Scallop Tacos: good, thin slices of raw scallops topped with mildly spiced xo sauce, on a very crispy chip like textured shell, the citrus added a burst of freshness, good but was expecting more of a traditional taco with a tortilla, this was a canape sized bite Pretzel Bread with Mornay sauce - pretzel i believe was a buckwheat base so a bit more dense than i was expecting, nice salty crust, mornay sauce was very tart and acidic with a thin runny texture, mustard forward as well, had higher hopes for this wouldn't recommend if you are expecting a classic pretzel Lobster Roll - served in a brioche bun that was a bit dense and lacked the airiness I was expecting, lobster was also a tad tough and chewy, loaded with bearnaise which was creamy and rich with a subtle saltiness but overpowered by the hot sauce served ontop Paris Breast: highlight of the night, really light airy choux with a slight crisp exterior filled with a delicious lightly sweetened vanilla cream, passionfruit orange and guava in the curd and filling was also excellent and made for an exciting end to the meal. Service was solid fairly attentive, plates and serviceware and water refilled and refreshed throughout. Food was well paced. Drinks took a little time to order but understandable given there were only two bartenders for the evening. Overall Bar Crenn was a little disappointing, other than dessert nothing was particularly note worthy. Cocktails were good but not outstanding, small bites were pretty hit or miss with small portion sizes. Glad i got to try this spot but not likely to return.
