The ambiance is lovely here, tons of seating and great place to work! Which is what people do at cafes (I don't understand the reviews complaining about the seating being full of people reading or hanging out). However, the quality of the food and drinks is NOT worth the price. The baristas couldn't tell us much anything about the beans they were using and the store relies mostly on cold foams and Torani syrups for flavors, which is totally fine! There's a market for that- just don't expect specialty coffee here. I wouldn't recommend ANY food besides maybe pastries. Extremely dry and zero flavor. I'm sorry this is so mean but the avocado toast is actually pitiful. You will pay $15+ for a BARELY seasoned avocado, powdered egg (?), tiny thin slice of bread, with two brown strips of bacon on it that you could make better at home (i'm so sorry but it is true). Similar with the breakfast sandwiches. Payed $50 for 2 drinks and 2 breakfast items that were essentially dutch bros quality. TLDR: Worth it if you want to hang out for the lovely seating and ambiance, just be aware that that is what you are paying for- not necessarily the quality of what your will be eating/drinking. Nice little coffee shop, we tried them at their last location but I think there wasn't enough foot traffic. Seating is ok, not the most comfortable for being a coffee shop and chilling. But the atmosphere is very appealing. Lots of plants , neon sign. Very cool. Very noisy and packed. but we came on a Sunday so probably a tad more busy. We waited for over 30 mins, asked about our drinks and gal said someone must have taken them. Hmm, we were both up front and never heard our name , so maybe didn't make em? So not sure, but needless to say it took a while to get drinks. We also got pizza bagel since they were pretty much out of a lot of there bagels and other baked goods. But another 15 mins before we got our drinks So very disappointed with their service or how they handle things when they are busy. My chai latte was amazing. I ask for oat milk due to allergies to milk and it's very good and rich, great for a latte. We also got pizza bagels, my less favorite so far. A lot of sausage and meat on top , not what I was expecting I guess I should have gotten the no meat but didn't know they had it till after. Overall, I like poppy Coffey atmosphere, there neon sign, the plants, it's nice, the chairs not so much. Just felt flimsy thin, cheap and I felt like it was gonna collapse. lol. I'm a big framed guy. I was so happy to hear that Poppy coffee was opening on miracle Mile and I finally had the chance to work there a few weeks ago. The space itself is gorgeous, tons of natural light and plenty of seating on both the first and second floors. It definitely has the potential to be a great spot to get work done and have coffee dates with friends. The staff wasn't anything special to comment on, but the biggest disappointment was the iced pumpkin Matcha...EWWWWW. It was honestly pretty nasty and definitely not something I'd order again. I'm open to coming back and trying another drink, but their Matcha is not it. One thing that threw me off was the amount of flies inside, they just wouldn't leave, which made it hard to focus. Also, because of all the natural lighting, it could get hot and muggy in the space. It probably won't be too bad in the winter, but I could see it becoming an issue during summer. Overall, I feel like poppy coffee is a great coffee shop to work at aesthetics wise if you don't mind having subpar drinks. I haven't been to Poppy Coffee since they were at their old location (more north on Pacific), so I'm glad I was able to visit their new space. The space is definitely an upgrade from their last one with high ceilings and endless sunlight through the big windows. I used to love their espresso brownies, so I was a bit disheartened not to see them on display (still on the menu I think, just not that day). The chocolate chip cookie I got was pretty good (it's on the flatter side, if you like your cookies more hefty). The iced tea was refreshing but I don't think I'd get it again. Scone was tasty too. Plenty of seats to choose from when coming to study or get some work done. That's probably the only reason I'd come back, but I'll be sure to order a coffee next time to see if it's still worth it. read more

So I've reviewed poppy coffee before, but that was before they moved to their new location. We recently visited it since we're big fans. The new spot is awesome, more space, even an upstairs to relax in. Everyone inside was working hard, whether it was making drinks or bringing out food. Place is beautiful, ambience is relaxing with the couches. I had a strawberry lemonade and OMG!!!!! It must be the ice lol, sooooo refreshing. For lunch we had the OG, with an everything bagel. Cute and quiet coffee shop! Coffee its self was not it. I ordered a small strawberry smoothie, a M banana latte, M Vanilla latte, and a pizza bagel ($33). Only thing that was good was the smoothie. Both coffee drinks lacked flavor it was more like water down milk , ice and splash of espresso as for taste. Pizza bagel was not a whole bagel just a half slice of a whole bagel. We went yesterday and decided to try this adorable coffee shop by our house. We got a couple drinks from the menu and a veggie sandwich to split $39. It was slow and we were chatting with the other table for a while and after 45 min my husband asked if we could just have the sandwich refunded if it was forgotten. The girl told him it was being made then finally went in the kitchen to tell them. We got our sandwich 15 min later and it was ok but missing some of the ingredients. I wish it was better. read more

Just wow :( I really like that we have a locally owed and operated coffee house in this part of the Miracle Mile! It's very exciting to see an alternative from the Mermaid Coffee Shop across the street. I will probably follow up this review with another based on any adjustments made but my first impression not good. First, my intention was to simply get a small coffee. Coffee is still madefrom imported beans roasted, then hot water passed through to make coffee, right? Is there some other process here that I'm missing? Anyway, the barista rings it up at 3.50(price on menu) then .50 for something else, then another buck for a breve which all I asked for was cream but she said milk. I clarified with half and half but the breve charge was still there so the final charge was on the wrong side of 6 bucks. I pointed out on the menu that a small coffee was 3.50 (still pricey IMHO) and she says that's the way it rings up. I said well can you make it so it rings up 3.50 because I don't need the breve (...and make it fast) and I don't agree with the. 50 cents upcharge that you can't explain. Worker #2 comes over and says well I can make the adjustment this time. Now I am the Karen here with my unreasonable demands of paying what it says on the menu? So I actually have seem these up charges before. In Santa Cruz they are pretty clear... The higher prices are in response to tariffs by you know who, affecting everything under the sun, and is what we ultimately call a tax on the consumer. This game of syntax and semantics by our current economic policy is affecting my ability to get a cup of Joe in the morning with clarity and transparency.Shame on our government for forcing our small business to resort to these measures. Come on Poppy, you can adjust your prices and Stocktonians will still have respect for that but you gotta come clean and be transparent. People need to respect that your cafe is not a library, or work place to hang out (that's a big problem at your competition across the street (Starbucks) I stopped by the other afternoon and the cafe was packed; only one barista behind the counter. We have been here before many times and typically fairly well experience. We usually only try the drinks. Today we seen a chicken bacon ranch wrap on the menu and wanted to give it a try. My mom was eating her half of the wrap and there was a long hair wrapped in the wrap. My mom let the lady making the food know (her long hair was down and not even pulled back) and the lady and man behind the register said oh okay. I never got to check out the previous location near Tigers Yogurt but finally got to check out this new miracle mile location and I think my overall impression is that this place has potential. I love the idea of a two story cafe with plenty of study and lounge space, however, there are a few things I think need improvement. The space is so cute, but extremely stuffy and warm, but I can see this being just fine as the weather gets even cooler. I felt that the employee taking my order was not welcoming at all and maybe they're still getting into the groove of things but it looked like there was no organization or flow. When I walked in the line was backed up with the same four people for quite a while because no one was tending to the register. Food was fine, I just had a simple asiago bagel with cream cheese and the Mexican mocha. The mocha was good, slightly too sweet, but still pretty good. I'm interested to try other items and you can also see into the kitchen from the upstairs loft. The only other concerning thing are the those pesky flying bugs around the stairway entrance to the upstairs loft. They seem to just be localized to the banister but definitely a little off putting, but maybe it was just a today thing. Overall, the space is super cute, a little more bustling than some cafes, and has solid options for food and drinks.
