I ordered the avocado, turkey, egg and cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel and I really enjoyed it! It was about $13 with tax. Similar to everyone else's experience, I ordered through the kiosk. From start to finish, I waited approximately 7 minutes for my sandwich (there were two people ahead of me at about 6:15am). I do wish it would've been cut in half, but aside from that, I truly don't have any complaints! The man who prepared my sandwich was nice, and confirmed I ordered a turkey sandwich before passing it over to me. read more

Owned and operated by a New York City native who moved to the Bay Area and quickly became homesick for a great bagel. It started incredibly slowly with boiling each hand-rolled bagel one at a time in her tiny SF apartment. With the assistance of friends and coworkers, the rest is history for the owner, Reesa Kashuk, a former home cook with no professional bread experience. Located inside Terminal C of Newark Liberty Airport, I decided to try Poppy Bagels for breakfast this morning. It was made to order via the kiosks which I ordered the Turkey, Avocado, Egg Wheat Bagel.  Luckily a staff member was close by on how to take out the cheese. The warm bagel was a smaller, classic navel shape and tasted bland. The portion was surprisingly huge. It's fairly priced for an airport. The service was slow considering there were 2 staff. Everything can be improved. Horrible customer service. Spread only put on 1 side. Rude employees, no customer service etiquette. Sold me pepper balls and said they were capers. They refused to taste the caper pepper balls that they were serving. Try a bagel with salmon, onions and pepper balls. It's not the experience you're expecting when you want capers. I expect to pay more for an airport, but it was such an annoying experience. There's kind of an employee around but they will only let you order from a touch screen. We asked how to add a water and she just said, "do it on the screen" and walked off even though we hadn't seen the option and she had been doing nothing. Then of course the kiosk asks to add a tip. A tip for who for doing what? We just got a water at a different store. They were out of plain bagels (?) so we had breakfast sandwiches on everything. It was fine, but it took a long time to get (luckily no line) and I'm amazed a bagel place would be out of plain bagels. The options were pretty limited in the area for a 7 am flight with food around 6 am, and the sandwich itself was okay but the rest of the experience wasn't. read more

I really don't know why this rating is so low and I'm glad I didn't look here before trying. They say airport food isn't good but I enjoyed my lox, bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwich. What a crappy bagel! I ordered an everything with cream cheese. The bagel is mushy. The cream cheese is on one side, just a slight smear. Also, cutting it in half would be so helpful, especially when eating on a flight. Self check is fine and the guys preparing the bagels were friendly and helpful, I noticed a few people had questions and they did their best to help. Great employees, bad bagels. read more

My experience here was very ok. I ordered around 5:50am via the QR code on my phone, the food came within 8 or so minutes. I got the lox sandwich on an everything bagel, I think called the Big Poppy, and it was pretty good. Now I'm no NY bagel purist but I do love a good NY bagel, and this was definitely satisfactory. I'm honestly a little surprised at the overwhelmingly bad reviews -- is it the best bagel I've ever had? Definitely not. Is it overpriced? Yeah. Is it decent? Also no. But for airport food, it's pretty okay. This was a nice and hearty, bacon egg & cheese. I stopped here on my way to my gate, before boarding. The wait was only about 10 minutes and it was worth the wait! The slice of bacon on this bagel was THICK, and packed with flavor. The bagel itself was tasty, but not the best bagel I've ever had before, admittedly. As a Jersey Girl, I'd like to say that I've got some strong opinions on bagels! This bagel didn't have the right amount of bread to air ratio, and was heavy on the bread. Well it was one of the few places open at this terminal at 5:30 am. The sign out front mentions 4:30 am but the lights were still off at 5:00 am. You can order via a QR code. Prices are double what you would pay outside of the airport. The bagel is not great but it's not Thomas store stuff. Staff brought the food out within 15 minutes. They were busy as soon as they opened. No ketchup or hot sauce was in the bag. read more

Ordered from a touchscreen. A nice worker informed me there's no coffee, which is such a weird thing for a bagel place. When my bagel was ready, I grabbed it and ran to my gate nearby. Opened it to find a truly bad bagel -- stale texture, no flavor -- and the literal WORST excuse for chive cream cheese I've ever experienced. It didn't taste or feel like cream cheese -- an off putting texture, extremely salty (?), and studded with freeze-dried little bits of "chive." I only ordered coffee...I wouldn't recommend it. When I walked up I was greeted by a member of staff that I couldn't understand. I just kept saying coffee over and over. I ordered the coffee and after it arrived they began turning everyone away. Don't know why. Suddenly this short and slightly disheveled man walked in and walked behind the counter...turns out he was some kind of manager. He was very loins and disruptive and kept laughing and hooting. It was very disturbing. I asked the server about him not realizing that I couldn't understand her. He walked out and was making strange noises and movements. It was then that I realized that he probably had Tourette's syndrome and couldn't control these sounds and movements. I don't think that most customers realized this and were very put off by the display. read more

Poppy's Bagels in Terminal C, Newark International Airport, is part of a food court where you get what you want from what's available, and pay for everything on the way out. Not exactly efficient in operation, but the idea is good in principle. I wanted a breakfast to take on the flight to LAX, and a bagel seems the best way for cash and carry. The wait after ordering by digital pad took longer than expected, but we had time before boarding, so I didn't really mind. I watched as the everything bagel was snatched from the bin, sliced and placed in the rotating toaster to be heated and crisped. I saw the preparer lather on the veggie spread on both sides and then wrap and bag it. She then called my number and I returned to the counter to retrieve it. Upon opening it looked good with adequate toppings and cream cheese extruded from the circumference of the rounder. Taste was okay, too. It wasn't as flavorful as hoped, but it passed muster. Definitely needed more garlic, onion and poppy seed to reach my preferred bagel, but this was an airport dispenser, so we were grading on a curve. I finished half while seated on the plane waiting to taxi from the gate, and the other half somewhere over Ohio. Even in the intervening hour the second half was drier than the first, but that could be on me for how I stored it. At around $5, it was reasonably priced for its location and convenience. Just wish they also sold coffee, so I wouldn't have to queue up again just for the java. That seemed ridiculous, and I hit the 787 sans my morning jolt of joe. Ordered that from my seat as one of the few things that are still "free" on domestic flights. 2.5 STARS read more

Very slow service. Paid for jelly on a toasted bagel. I received a half toasted bagel with. O jelly. Paid 6 dollars for bacon but received crumbled up bacon bits. I should have read the reviews first. You have to order using an iPad and pay with a card, no cash taken which can be a problem for foreign visitors. I had a hot chamomile tea with lemon and it was great. The ordering on the iPad is absolutely not user friendly. I sat at the bar and saw many problems with other people's order. I counted 5 errors with orders in 30 minutes. My bagel finally came, poppy seed bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. The bagel was not quite fresh and not enough cream cheese. One star for the bagel and four stars for the tea. When you close your tab it automatically adds 18% tip. You can change it and I did down to 12%. 18% tip for someone whose only job is to deliver the food is not right. read more

How to begin..... Well the retro styled banner drew my attention before my morning flight. I was in the craving something relatively simple and filling. Based on that my expectations were rather low and easily obtainable. Upon sitting down, I noticed that they take all overs on the iPads/kiosks which I realized immediately caused over 10 complaints during my visit. My advice is get a new software programmer and get this fixed ASAP or use the people here to take orders. It was ridiculous and the servers were doing their best to solve every issue that came about. Outside of the technical issues I experienced my food was simply terrible. I ordered the BEC combo that comes with OJ for $14.50. The bagel was hard, the chicken sausage was cold. Not a great way to start my vaca but I prevailed. The only reason why I didn't give this establish 1 star was solely because my boo enjoyed her meal (K-POP sandwich). If you cant find a way to order without dealing with all the other nonsense don't even waste your time. In the meantime catch flights, not feelings. read more

I should preface this by saying I'm born and raised in NY, and know quality bagels. I get that it's in an airport.... but we are still within eyeshot of the NYC skyline.
