I ordered a salad and it was excellent - I added crispy chicken to mine and it had that little bit extra you come to expect at a good Italian place. Hints of basil and lemon - perfectly juicy and crisp on the outside. Their sandwiches were good-sized portions. Some people ordered spicy, and they said it was perfectly spiced. The service was fast and efficient. The ambiance was classic, up East - it was everything I didn't realize I was missing in Canton. I highly recommend this place. My wife and I decided to try this relatively new Italian eatery and market. The historic building is beautiful and the vibe inside was welcoming and classy. Comfortable seating options, smooth jazz, and a great staff. We were welcomed at the door by the owner, Andy. He's a great guy who seems to really care about not only what he's built, but also the local community. They even get their coffee from around the corner at another small local business. We ordered the meatballs and the cheesy bread as sides. The meatballs were delicious, not just bland chunks of meat in sauce, but actual spices and flavour in the meat. I'm a sucker for garlic cheesy bread in any form, especially if you give me marinara to dip it in, so no complaints there either. For our mains, I ordered the Bolognese and my wife ordered the B-Sting sandwich. The Bolognese was HEARTY and substantial, but I cleaned the whole plate. I believe they make the noodles in house. My wife allowed me a bite of her sandwich, and I considered ordering one to go. The hot honey slaw and spicy pepper were fantastic paired with the chicken. If you're in the Canton area and need a great meal from great folks, I highly recommend this place. If I lived closer it would be my go-to lunch spot. read more

Love this place, it's an open layout so you go to a counter to order and then pick your seat, get you drink, and wait for your food. Makes it more efficient for sure. The sandwiches are amazing, it's my favorite place for lunches and dinners cause I can eat a sandwich for multiple meals. My wife has gotten their pasta and she says it's the best, going to have to try it some time. The sides are ok, haven't tried a lot of them but the pasta salad was good (just needed to season it to my taste) and wasn't really super into the pasta chips (just my own tastes) but they are clearly super popular so never sleep on them. Absolutely fantastic! After seeing and hearing rave reviews from many sources, we decided to give this place a try last night. I normally do not try a brand new place because they are usually working the kinks out in the first few weeks but that is not the case here. We got there about an hour before closing. Even after we arrived and the place was hopping with people still coming in after us, there wasn't a hiccup. The counter staff was nice and friendly. The service was fantastic. And the food was AMAZING. Fresh, homemade, and just right on point. It was easy to see why this place has garnered such great reviews. Downtown Canton is super fortunate to have this new addition. Welcome to the neighborhood!!! What an AMAZING addition to Downtown Canton!! We stopped in for lunch after a failed attempt to go for dinner the previous week. Why was it a failed attempt? Well because it's brand new and was beyond full (a great problem for any business to have). We came back during lunch hours and were able to walk right up to the counter to place our order. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Once you order at the counter you seat yourself and then your food is brought to your table when it's ready. What's even more special about this place....I LOVE knowing that I am supporting a family owned business. The owner and his 2 young (adorable) children brought our dishes out. It was love at first bite!!!! We were a party of 5 and each had something different & sampled it all of course. It was all divine!! I even ate my meal slowly because I didn't want it to end!! It was absolutely delicious!! They did a beautiful job with the build out. It's very spacious providing various seating options, large windows allowing for tons of natural light to flow through, and great attention to detail (I just love the gold silverware). They have a small "market" area with pastas, sauces, olive oils, beverages etc. We all loved our meal so much and had such a wonderful experience that we are already talking about going back for more!! read more

The hubby and I stopped in to check out POPS for lunch. There is a basket in the front with menus, that you can help yourself to. After you decide what you would like, you make your way to order. I ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich. (I read a lot of reviews and everyone was bragging on the chicken parm.) My hubby ordered the meatball sub. We paid and sat down in the buzzing eatery. The food came out and the sandwiches looked great. For the price, I would have liked some chips, or pasta salad. Usually you get a side for the price point. My sandwich was a lot thinner than I expected from the reviews I've seen. The chicken wasn't pounded evenly so one half was paper thin and the other half was meatier. I did ask for a side of sauce because it was kinda dry. My hubby ordered the meatball and the sandwich was also lacking sauce. He said the flavor was spot on. He said, they were probably the best meatballs he's ever had. The bread on both were great too. Crunchy but soft on the inside. I know that PoPS is new and they are learning, but Bring on the sauce. Don't be shy. When I think Italian, I think sauce. Several reviews have said they are lacking in the sauce department. With a few small tweaks this restaurant could be a long time fixture in Canton. The atmosphere is open and inviting. The wall of family photos as a nice personal touch. There are various options for seating, like high tops, and traditional four top tables, and a lounge area. The server was polite and she made excellent recommendations. The B-Sting was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. It was perfect blend of sweet and spice. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy yet a little crunch on the outside. The bread was definitely homemade and delicious! The P.O.P.S. salad was very tasty with chickpeas, romaine, and a delicious vinaigrette. I think next time, I will ask for light dressing as it was a little heavy on the oil. Overall, though, it had the perfect crunch and was a generous portion. If you've never tried a San Pellegrino Limonata, definitely try it! The frozen coffee was also delectable. The Good: The decor, service, and food are all on point. Some may argue that the prices are high, but you are partially paying for the environment they have created. Love that this new family run restaurant has moved in to the heart of Canton. This was an interesting experience-we had no idea what to expect. The food was fresh but not plentiful and the prices and description led us to believe it would be. The sandwich definitely needed larger meat portions. The salad tasted great but again not a large portion. The frozen drinks were excellent. The staff was all very nice and the kids helping bring orders was adorable af. The one trend I've noticed not just here but everywhere is the tipping request at the counter. This is getting out of hand. This place for example was order at the counter and get your own utensils and napkins at a stand- like in fast food. They bring your entree to your table that you place an identifying card at. We went a while ago and I still remember my dinner and how great my tummy felt afterwards. So many times I will have pasta and then regret it. Not because it isn't good, but because of how it makes my stomach feel for the rest of the night! I wasn't even thinking about my stomach and of course, ordered the pasta! Which was outstanding! It was so delicious and light. The sauce clung to all the little nooks and crannies of the homemade pasta! What a treat! We really enjoyed the food here! We hadn't really researched it, we had just been told by friends it was good, so we checked it out one night when we suddenly found ourselves with a sitter and lapsed plans. We were surprised it was a counter order place, but the lady taking orders was very polite and the vibe was relaxed enough that it didn't feel burdensome. They have some pasta and pasta-making tools for sale throughout the dining room, and they have several comfortable chairs if you're just grabbing a frozen coffee (and you should - it was fantastic!) or a quick bite. We ordered two meatballs for an appetizer and two pasta dishes, one with red sauce and another with the sausage and spinach. The pastas were fresh, the meatball was flavorful, and overall this was a great meal. First time at Pops. Let's start with the place. It's a counter service restaurant with the hope you can find a table to eat your meal. The inside is fresh with almost an airy modern library/coffee shop feel. Service is standard counter service with food runners so not much to say about service. The food: pasta is fresh made, and the dishes we had were delish. Wife had the eggplant meatball parm and I had the sausage and broccoli rabe. Both were magnificent. Prices are pretty reasonable considering a typical Italian pasta place at $19 a plate. The Caesar salad with anchovy Caesar dressing was heavy on the anchovy taste. Not bad just a FYI. I think this place has a great formula for success because the food is the best part of this place. It's quite busy often so you might want to secure a seat before you order when it's busy.
