Great little spot. Does not give chain vibes at all. Stopped by on a Saturday adventure and was not disappointed. The menu is pretty standard for a diner but I'm sad to report that mimosas are missing. Otherwise kids indeed eat free and there's a decent selection for picky eaters (looking at my own offspring here). All staff were very friendly, service was speedy and our server was able to make complicated adjustments to the our meal, true MVP. The food was great, so much so a to go box traveled home with me.

Was on an animals without feet kick diet and decided on the classic two egg breakfast meal. The eggs were ordered and cooked perfectly over medium, fruit and 12 grain toast. The meal was fine but I can't understand why they only serve one piece of bread cut in half. Most restaurants serve up two slices of bread but not Pops. Again the meal was nice and the service was friendly as usual.

Something about Sunday morning screams waffles, and rather than going to the store to get the ingredients and pulling out my Belgian Waffle maker -I decided to go out to eat at a place that had been voted Best Waffles for nearly a decade (by the Virginia Pilot) - Pop's Diner Co. I would spot the bright yellow letters every time I drove down Northampton or visited Lynnhaven Mall and think I would try it out one day. Pop Diner's was opened in 2005 by two brothers who wanted to share the gift of homemade breakfast at any time in tribute to their father, Pop, who was renowned for making an incredible breakfast. The menu consists of breakfast, of course, and lunch items. Despite it being a holiday weekend, we sat down without a wait. I ordered the following: Corned Beef Hash Breakfast Classic Waffle Rump Shaker I requested the chef to grill the corned beef hash twice to give it an extra crispy texture - for a good mixture of salty and meaty. This classic breakfast has two eggs, toast, home fries, grits, or fruit. I ordered the scrambled eggs hard with cheese, a side of fruit, and an English muffin that I didn't even eat to save room for the main attraction - the waffle. The waffle was terrific--soft on the inside but nice and crispy on the edges. It was shaped like a flower, which definitely allows for a perfect crispy crunch in almost every bite. The Rump Shaker features Malibu, triple sec, pineapple, grenadine, and orange juice. It was refreshing. I definitely will be back, perhaps with my niblings (nieces/nephews), since kids eat free!

Pretty decent diner spot on a busy road, plenty of parking around the building. The Morning moon sandwich had fresh salsa although it needed some extra hot sauce added to it. The wait staff are very friendly and kept my coffee and water filled. Inside is a typical diner vibe, booths everywhere. Not much of a view though since its location doesn't provide one. All around good spot, would be back for more.

Its a nice and clean atmosphere. Love this place for breakfast or lunch. They also have a variety on their menu to choose from. Friendly staff and quick service. The waffles are the best.

There was no wait because there was ample staff so the table tuen was nice. Not much ambiance definitely a place to eat a good meal and leave. LARGE portions so come hungry. I also had a bloody mary, not my favorite bloody mary but great presentation heavy on the spices in the mix, not a fan. I will be back! Our server was new, Danielle and very sweet.

Food was amazing , I ate her last year and couldn't remember the name . Thank God for google search ! The staff is pleasant and the food is reasonably priced as well as delicious

It's been over a year since I reviewed this location and unfortunately ran into the same issue. There was an odd smell like sewage/basement smell. Our waitress Lisa very attentive and patient as this was my mom's first time. We ordered coffee, southwestern omelet, and the chicken and waffles. My mom stated the chicken was juicy and tender. The maple apple bourbon syrup complimented the food well. If you're unsure like my mom was ask for it on the side you won't regret it! I had the southwestern omelet with breakfast potatoes well done. Not sure what happened but they ended up really mushy this time and unfortunately there was hair cooked into the omelet. Lisa immediately take the food away. A guy assuming the manager as he didn't introduce himself. He asked how we were doing and if he could get me anything else. Overall the staff has been great at this location but this is the second time hair was in my food. Can't say I'll return to this specific location.

Pretty delicious breakfast! I didn't realize it was a local chain. But the food is really good. The portions are a good size. Not too big, and not too small. You can do grits or home fries which were kind of like a cross between shredded potatoes and little potato chunks. I feel like if you got those potato chunk things extra crispy, they'd be really good. My grits came with a ton of butter on top. Just a heads up. The food came out really fast! I couldn't get over how fast the place served me. They also don't advertise the awesomeness that is kids eat free! Can't beat that. Or the fact they serve alcohol! What?! Mimosas and other drinks. I just had a water because I'm lame! LOL It wasn't super huge in there but you could easily sit 4 to 6 people. Probably some food for vegetarians. And if you go early enough, you can do breakfast or lunch! I'm sure I'll stop in again.

Never have I ever been to Norfolk Va. so picked Pop's off Yelp. Small place seats around 70'ish. We came for breakfast, but you can order off the lunch menu too. Our server was training so I had to mess with her. The staff is genuinely friendly and being from NJ that took some getting used to. I got the Meat Lovers Omelette and because we are in the south I had to get grits. Almost got a bagel but because we're in the south I didn't. My wife loved the Cinnamon Roll pancakes, but couldn't finish them so I tried to help. I could have done without the orange cheese on my omelette, but that was my fault. All and all this is a great place for a good meal with great service.

Okay, okay, okay! Pops diner is a definite hit. I'm here visiting my hubs hometown and he said this spot was a must try. We arrive less than 40 mins before closing and the young lady that greeted us was so pleasant. The restaurant is cute not very big but like a comfort setting. Christmas music was playing in the background to help you with holiday spirit. After being seated she offered a variety of drink options. Let me just say this was the absolute best waffle I think I've ever had. Bacon infused. Soft on the inside but nice and crispy on the edges. Everything was amazing. Don't sleep on this spot & the menu is really good and both options are served all day. Close at 3p

Amazing Service, Great Coffee but the food could be better. I ordered the cheesy Shrimp & Grits and they were extremely salty! (I did not add salt at the table) Not edible at all, however the server offered to give me another meal, or have the dish remade which is very much appreciated, it shows they care about customer satisfaction. Husband had the Meat Lovers omelette which he enjoyed. They do slap a slice of sandwich cheese on-top of the omelette rather than shredded cheese, I have never seen that before at a restaurant/diner but husband said it tasted fine.

I visited here on a Monday afternoon around 1:35pm. I had no idea how close it was to my hotel when I chose this place. I went to the end of the parking lot to turn GPS on, looked up, and BAM! There was the sign lol. I could've walked lol. I chose this place primary because they were known for their waffles, the pictures looked good, and I wanted to give them a try. When I walked it, it was pretty cold. It was a cloudy day with the outside weather being around 79 degrees. I noticed it wasn't very busy. There were about 5 tables in use. I was greeted and sat promptly. The waitress came over shortly after. I ordered a mango orange mimosa and a water. I received both fairly quickly (1-2 minutes). I ordered around 1:45pm. I got the BMW Waffle combo with home fries and sausage links. Waitress said the combo would be an extra $3. I was thinking about adding fruit on my waffle, but it would've been another $3, so I decided against it. My food came out surprisingly quick, around 1:50pm. I ate the sausage first, which was tasty. It had the perfect crisp when taking the initial bite. Next was the home fries, which wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Personally, they also didn't taste the best plain. For me, home fries makes me think of fried potatoes that are typically square in shape. This wasn't it. It just tasted like potatoes. They tasted 10x better with ketchup. This was until I got halfway through and realized it just wasn't that good. They over cooked pieces throughout and it was nasty. Now to the waffle. It was shaped like a flower. I wouldn't say it was the *best* waffle I've had. The edges in several area were more crispy than soft. Additional, the menu says the BMW Waffle is a "bacon infused waffle topped with maple glaze and even more bacon!", but there was barely any bacon on the inside. I didn't even notice any until I got to the middle, and it wasn't very much. So, this was a letdown. I'm a bacon lover. I was expected to taste bacon in every single bite; bacon didn't even cover the entire top of the waffle. While eating, I overheard an interview taking place. So, Jimmy and Jerry are two brothers who run the business. There is more than one location. The restaurant is named after their father, who cooked in the kitchen. There 22 tables total. I heard, who I assume is the manger, state that everyone runs food and that there is typically 3 servers throughout the week. The highlight of teamwork was good to hear and it was witnessed. There isn't a designated host, so the manager and my server sat guests by whoever was available. Overall, I probably won't return. I just don't see the worth of it, unfortunately. My meal and drink was $25. Per the receipt, my waitress was Ashanti. She was friendly.

We had a large group with us and they were very friendly and was able sit us with no wait, the best part of our visit was the staff, very friendly and outgoing. The facility was very clean welcoming. With regards to the food they have a large offering but we went for the breakfast. In all my travel along the east coast the Chicken and Waffles are hands down the best, the bourbon apple glaze topped it off to be a great meal. Next time we are in town this will be our go to breakfast place read more

Place is super clean!!! We were sat after waiting a very short amount of time on a Sunday morning!! Our server was amazing and our food was perfect!! I got the Bellini w/ the Kielbasa & Eggs while my husband got the Link Sausage & Eggs. He said his meat was a bit mushy but other than that everything was amazing!! I stopped in yesterday for some chicken and waffles, grits, and eggs. The food was pretty good. I especially liked the apple bourbon sauce that came with the waffle. However, the chicken was definitely overcooked. It was tough and dry. I would go back and maybe just order the waffle and sides. I appreciated the quick service. My food was ready within 15 minutes of placing my order. read more

this is the most peaceful breakfast I've eaten in a long time, im a diner addict and compare to those I've been to, they're very friendl, highly recommended for my fellow Veterans! you're greeted by a beautiful young lady with a big ass kool aid smile, very sincere and cheerful! Food is great and prices are fair!! Now that my son is in this area I'll be coming here more for that beautiful smile and my coffee! lol very highly recommended! I loved this cute little diner! It was nice and cozy and the colors were yellow and gray. Not too bright but not too dull. Very inviting. We were a group of about ten. I will say that I was bit uncomfortable because it seemed very tight for us all. I like more space when I grub. However our server was sweet and very attentive to our needs. I ordered the bacon waffle. The waffle had bacon inside of it and sprinkled on top with maple glaze. It was a good combination. It did not come with any sides. I ordered grits. Everyone can't make good grits but these were perfect. I used a fork...they weren't runny but I didn't have to stab the grits and chew them either. So thumbs up for that. The others ordered the chicken and waffles, some had the corn beef hash, pancakes, and the French toast looked amazing and was presented with apples on top. The diner was clean. Amen for that! There were no flies and aggravated gnats as in most places. Parking was good. We parked in the back and walked around to the front. Great location and easy to find. read more

My wife and I tried out pops diner(north Hampton Blvd)on a Sunday morning for our first time. We found the restaurant to be very clean and spacious. Our waitresses name was Gerida she was very personable very attentive saw to all our needs asking about the menus for the first time and came back and checked on us several times. We both had the pancake combo. I with sausage links she with bacon. We're very pleased with our selections and would definitely come back again for breakfast and based on the menu for dinner would like to come back and try some of the dinner specials. read more

So I've order 3 times from Pops. We got take out all the three times. I like the fact they show you what you order and it is satisfactory, however the bags they provide are way to small so you can get several with your order. From what I seen the place looks clean and neat, and has several seats. The staff was friendly and helpful. So out of 3 times there was some consistency with my country fried steak and eggs. The last time was package differently and was the best way with the gravy on the side. Eggs were cooked perfect the first two times the last time a little over cooked. My wife gets the bagel sandwich with sausage this last time it was missing the sausage. Called back they offered to remake it, but we live to far away to run back. We received a credit for next time so that works for me. It's pretty expensive for Diner style food. $50 for two adults and a child, and that's take out. If we had eaten there with drinks and tip it could easily total $65-$70. Are there better choices in the area for breakfast, not really pretty limited unless you want IHOP or Waffle House which is substantial cheaper. If your eating in a budget then this probably isn't a good option for you. Overall I will return, but not as often. read more

The Berri Waffle was absolutely fabulous, eggs and sausage were of top quality and the coffee was a great brew. Visited this place early in our vacation stay and we definitely plan to return! I have passed this place going to and from work daily and always wanted to stop in and try it. Today I made the effort. The sign on the street and building are very noticeable with yellow lettering and border over black and I half expected something just as bold when I walked in the door but I was instantly hit with a bland, whitewashed and greyed out interior. Previous reviewers are correct, this place looks so generic I would almost give them props for trying really really hard not to be trendy if it was intentional. Food was just ok, waffle was like a pancake shaped like a flower and not crispy at all. Underwhelming just like the length of this review. read more

Average place, nothing special at all. Upon entering you get a pretty decent vibe from the place, you can tell it's new. However, the nice atmosphere does not match the food, it's very low quality, Like cheap eggs, cheap water-like grits, nothing like your grandmothers homemade biscuits and gravy. The menu states the kitchen is ran by "Pop" when asked to speak with him, I was told he wasn't even there So where is pop?! Why say he's running the kitchen if he can't be bothered to come in?! They close early on Sunday, so you can't get anything from the "Entree" portion which makes no since, considering the menu also says "Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served all day, everyday" Clearly this menu is just full of lie after lie For all I know "Pop" isn't even real So who's diner is this?! Where has Pop gone? Does he know they use regular sandwich cheese to put on top of omelets instead of shredded like everyone else?! I just can't help but wonder I do very much appreciate the hostess at the end telling me I was being rude, really made my day Can't wait to never go back I'd rather eat Mcdonalds and spend the rest of my day on the toilet than go back to this place! read more

The hotel restaurant didn't look to appealing so we decided to try a local diner. Unfortunately this place wasn't any better in the end. The service was ok, but despite being empty still wasn't very attentive. The food was just plain lousy. The home fried potatoes were tasteless, the bagel was on the verge of being stale, the bacon was flimsy, and the egg was underdone. A complete and utter disappointment. read more

Amazing place! We stopped here on the way to vacation in NC. Our waitress was Jasmine, she was super nice and attentive! I got a burger with mozzarella, tomato, and lettuce. It was delicious. While this place is slightly pricy for a diner, the food was amazing & we left feeling that it was worth it. read more

Went out for brunch on a busy Sunday around noon. We (2 people) were sat down immediately without waiting. Our server Nykee was friendly and provided prompt service, our food came about 7-8 minutes after ordering. Food was priced fairly for the quality and quantity. All in all, a very well rounded diner. All other diners should use Pop's Diner as a standard. 4 stars. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out and I'm so glad we did! We came around 9:00 am on a Sunday morning so I was expecting a wait but nope- we were greeted by friendly host staff and sat right down. I will say the restaurant was particularly warm- but I'd rather it be warm than cold! Our server came over in record time and took our drink order. My boyfriend thought he saw something floating in his water (tiny black spec), the server apologized and immediately came over with a fresh glass. If that's never happened to you at a restaurant then you're lying! I ended up getting the Waffle Combo and my boyfriend got a Skillet meal. Both were delicious and the waffle was one of the best I've ever had. Everything was reasonably priced and we paid about $28 for our two meals and a coffee. Next time I want to come around lunch time to order from the lunch menu and try one of their milkshakes! We will definitely be back :) read more

This is a great spot for a hearty & quick breakfast/lunch. So many interesting food choices it's hard to choose! Friendly waiters & fast service. Spoke with a woman who claimed to be the manager. Ordered my food came and picked it up, got back home with the incorrect order. Frustrated but not the worst thing in the world. I called back to rectify and explained the situation plainly to the manager who told me I could come back up there and PAY for what I already paid for but did not receive!! After I became flustered at what she said and told her that's not going to happen and she needs to handle this appropriately, she eventually told me I could come back and get my food after 10 minutes of arguing with me. At that point, considering our conversation, I did not trust my food to be handled correctly. WILL NOT EVER GO BACK! Was a weekly customer but I don't care how much I like breakfast food I won't be treated like that again. read more

We ordered takeout and it was ready when my wife got there. When she got back to the hotel it was still warm. I ordered the bmw waffle combo with scrambled eggs and sausage links. The sausage was amazing and the eggs were good and the bacon infused waffle with the bmw maple syrup was one of the best waffles I've ever had. On point. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. The green salad was REALLY good but I do have some recommendations.. when the salad comes with a meal, it is listed as "green salad." When ordered alone it is listed as "house side salad" and includes all of the ingredients listed. The salad does contain almond slivers as well as pesto which are both allergens. I think this should be noted under all of the meals that come with green salad. Many people don't even realize how pesto is made, so I would definitely point out it is made with tree nuts. My only other "complaint" would be their straws sit in a plastic container, unwrapped. I noticed when the waitress brought out straws she was touching where you'd sip, an my sister says this has happened every time she's been. On their grounds they have geese and chickens and other birds. There is also a little path that leads to a cute sitting area on the water. I'd love to visit again when it warms up a bit as this restaurant is very relaxing and has a great setting overall!

Yesterday, My wife and I drove down Baltimore because we were in a wedding and decided to catch our flight back to Las Vegas from Norfolk. Made a stop at the Virginia Beach for some one on one time. The beach is so beautiful by the way! Clean beach for the win! Let me tell yall!! The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Fish of the Day, which was Blackened Salmon, Garlic Broccoli, and Fries. My wife had the Blackened Shrimp Tacos and Rum cake. Let me tell yall, that Rum Cake was absolutely delicious!! The service was phenomenal!! Huge huge huge shoutout and thank you to Mario for making my wife and I feel so welcomed and taken cared of!! The Food and Mario's kind service is literally the reason this establishment is getting a 5 out of 5. If you go here, make sure to ask for Mario, he's great! On a side note, if you're not from there, it will be obvious. Some of the customers kept staring at my wife and I. Mario made sure we were comfortable, thank you for that!

I also tried to order a French 1605, and while they didn't end up having all the ingredients, the bartender was still completely game to make something off-menu and clearly knew their spirits well. Always appreciate a bartender who actually understands balance and flavor instead of just reading recipes off a card. We also ordered the deviled quail eggs, bulgogi lettuce wraps, and potstickers. Everything was good, though our other table ended up being ready way faster than expected, so we had to take most of it to go. One small PSA: the menu calls them "jumbo" quail eggs, but quail eggs are tiny creatures of nature to begin with, so don't walk in expecting chicken egg-sized deviled eggs.

This is my go to meal that I normally get, it's always tasty. The storm fish normally comes with a spicy mayo sauce, but they didn't have it this time. The fish was still ok, but the sauce is what gives it flavor, so it was a little bland this time. The eggplant and Mongolian chicken were yum, hot, and fresh!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to alot of people. I just think it's more elevated compared to regular Chinese takeout food. They have many delicious options on the menu, and again the vibe is chill. If you're planning a group dinner this is definitely a great option. I found maybe 4 at most. It was also disappointing most of the sauce was on the bottom. So it's imperative you stir everything from bottom up upon receiving the order. The top layer tasted like it had barely any seasonings because of it. I wish I had known the meal came with copious amounts of mushrooms. I otherwise would have specifically requested the order be made without the them. I am not a big fan of mushrooms and especially the fragrant kind like the shiitake variety. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

Who doesn't love Pop's Diner? This place hits all the right notes, classic comfort food, friendly service, and a welcoming vibe that keeps you coming back.
