Ok...I was hesitant to try PopUp Bagels because there are so many great bagel places opening up. But one Saturday I had the craving for bagels so walked over to the Seaport location. They opened up a location in seaport Boston. The bagels came in sets of 3 and they were freshly made and very warm and airy. I got a Jalapeño smear which was available for a limited time. I really enjoyed their salt bagels. The service was very fast and the staff did great explaining the ordering process and answering any questions we had. The place is very busy and packed. Came here on a Saturday morning around 10am for some bagels. I had not googled their menu in advance but the cashier was kind enough to go over the ordering style. You can order bagels (min 3) and the 3 bagel combo comes with one schmear. I got the everything, poppy, and salt bagel with roasted red pepper schmear. The total after tax was just over $16. The bagels were hot! The place was very busy inside so I had to find another coffee shop to eat my bagels. Bagels are so soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Went on a Saturday morning a week after they opened and the line was insane. I think I waited around 45 minutes but it's probably not so bad now. The team working was pretty efficient and they had people taking orders outside the door and handed you the bag with the order on it. There is one tiny table inside so you'll also have to bring your food somewhere else to eat. I ended up getting the salt bagel and the scallion cream cheese and it was okay. The salt wasn't the most evenly spread out so there would be bites that were very salty and some that was just a plain bagel. The cream cheese was great though. That was probably one of the best scallion cream cheeses I've had in a while. read more

If you love a good quick bagel, Popup is your spot! There isn't really a place to sit because this is more of a walk up counter so definitely something to consider when going. There were tables outside in the shopping area around the corner where you can take your bagels and enjoy. It's a simplistic small shop with no seating, order at the counter/in line and take to go. You have to order a minimum of 3 bagels and it comes with a schmear - plain and scallion are always available and it seems like there will be a rotating limited edition option. The line was pretty long (even being a week after opening) but the staff is extremely polite and efficient in keeping the line moving. The bagels are served hot, are crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside - perfect to eat right away! My personal favorite combo is the salt with scallion cream cheese. Horrible business model. First , the music is blaring SO loud . It's more like a nite club with the staff dancing around instead of filling orders . You shouldn't have to wait 10/15 minutes for something sitting right there. EVERY other donut /bagel place manages to hand you your order right after you pay. The music is so loud that I had to ask the clerk to repeat himself 3 times before I could hear that there's a "3 bagel minimum " Are you serious?!!! Hit the new, viral, Instagrammable Pop Up Bagels on their first weekend. Started in Connecticut, they're wildly popular in NYC and made their way up here last week. They're all over Instagram as the latest thing. The Good: 1. The bagels were hot. The Pop Up Bagels calling card is steamy fresh bagels designed to be ripped and dipped into tubs of soft cream cheese. But they felt like they were re-warmed, not cooked, in the ovens they came from. 2. Management and staff enthusiastic and friendly. Service fast and efficient. 3. On the payment screen, tip options top out at a mere 15%. When was the last time you saw that? 4. The line moves relatively quickly. The Bad: 1. No bagel sandwiches, which they proudly announce. Also no applied spreads; it's do-it-yourself. But I'm okay with that decision, because it speeds the line and (theoretically) emphasizes the bagel over additives. 2. Gotta commit to a minimum order of 3 bagels and 1 schmear. Or 6 bagels and 1 schmear. Or 12 bagels and 2 schmears. 3. The schmears (yeah, that's what they call them). First, the use of the word is both pandering and slapping NY bagel street cred on themselves. Second, the schmears in real life bear no resemblance to the fluffiness shown by all the influencers they invited in to hype the place. Their reels show the whipped cream cheese rising 3 inches or more above the rim. What we got was basically a hardened Hoodsie in size, texture, and temperature. 4. The space. I get it: in the Seaport (now apparently just "Seaport"), expensive rents probably don't allow expansive seating. But one tiny table and two stools? They've dedicated more space to the merch area. Lots of bright lights, lots of slogans ("grip it, rip it, dip it"), lots of photos of happy customers, including Jerry Seinfeld, no less. Plus blaring, pulsating disco versions of Beatles and Fleetwood Mac songs. Are you kidding me? What is this, Abercrombie and Fitch? For better or worse, they're trying harder to be the place to be seen than the place to be eating. 5. The bagels. Not a lot of flavor or texture. More like round bread with holes. The ripping and dipping a hot bagel gimmick wears off after the remaining bagels in your mandatory half dozen cool down. At that point, you might as well be eating a Lender's. Or a bagel from one of the other worthier places (just my opinion) around town. read more

The bagel texture is amazingly chewy but the inside is warm and fluffy. This place has a constant line to get in and grab some bagels. While in line, one of their staff members comes around with bags that doubles as an ordering sheet. This gets you your order quickly once you get inside. The place looks clean and tidy, with a bunch of staff cranking out fresh bagels and packaging orders. The bagels were delish and sizable. The order of 6 bagels and one smear was $22. Don't bother looking at Yelp to see what flavors of smear (cream cheese) they have as they only have a couple available...and there is no consistency. You show up and pick from the 2 or 3 they have that day. We ended up getting some sweet butter cream spread. I wanted Jalapeno, but no go. Overall, it was a good experience and we got some tasty bagels. They were not life changing but definitely were very enjoyable. Something you should try at least once, and pray they have a cream cheese flavor you'd like. read more

It's a very nice roll but it's absolutely not a bagel. It's a roll with a hole in the middle, real bagels can only be made by boiling them in food lye producing a very chewy interior with a golden brown outer crust. These have a white bread interior if that's your thing. read more

I tried their sesame, everything, and plain bagel with scallion cream cheese and pickle de gallo schmear. My favorite bagel was the plain bagel, but I enjoyed them all in their own ways. I feel like everything bagel paired the best with the scallion cream cheese. The bagel was chewy and delicious so i can understand the hype behind this. Both the scallion cream cheese and pickle de gallo schmear were great in their own ways. The pickle de gallo schmear had a hint of spice and did not taste as heavy as I thought it would. After reheating the bagels, they were still nice and fluffy on the inside. There was plenty of cream cheese and schmear left after demolishing the bagels. Overall, while I did enjoy the bagels, I would not go out of my way to get them unless I have a huge craving, or I am conveniently in the area. read more

Popup was a rec I got from someone who tried it in NY. We came pretty early in the morning, a little past 8AM on a Sunday morning. There was nobody there, which was surprising. They don't offer individual bagels and the minimum is a 3-pack, so we got 3 everything bagels with the scallion cream cheese. I didn't check the bag until after we left, and when I did, they ended up giving us 4 bagels instead of 3! Probably because there were 4 of us who came in. That was really sweet of them so I added an extra star for that. The bagels were really good as you eat them fresh, very crispy outside and soft chewy center. I also really liked the scallion cream cheese. You can definitely taste the flavor but it's not overpowering. However... The minute they cooled down, the bagels suddenly had a tough leathery texture that was very hard to bite into and eat. Which made me so sad because they were good :( I probably wouldn't come here again as there are plenty of other good bagel spots. read more
