Finally made it to Utopia bagels after much hype. I've been to this location as well as the one in LIC, though I still need to try the original location in Whitestone/College point area to see how they compare. After trying a few times, I have to say that Utopia Bagels is a solid, good bagel but unfortunately far from my favorite. That said, I think there are plenty of other bagel spots in the city that are better quality and a better value overall. For what it's worth it's the items I ordered from Utopia Bagels were good, but when you end up paying $18 for a breakfast sandwich and latte, can the price really be justified? I ordered a vegan sausage, egg and cheese on everything bagel and almond milk latte. The bagel was average sized and for the price I imagined it would actually be a decent size. It tasted good despite my disappointment in the portions. The latte was good as well. The staff works hard! The shop was pretty busy for late morning. My order didn't take long to be made and all the staff I spoke to were friendly. The seating area leaves a little to be desired since the shop is so busy you'd wonder why they didn't design it to have more seating. I guess they're use to people grabbing their orders and leaving. I was grabbing breakfast before an appointment so I definitely needed to sit and eat. Luckily I caught the last open table by the exit, before I ended up leaving the shop. I was a bit hesitant to go to a franchise location because I usually go to the OG location in Bayside/Franny Lew which is bomb. But I'm glad the quality of their products didn't go down. Place was poppin when we got there with a line out the door on a Sunday morning. However, things move quickly so not terrible. You also get to see how they freshly make the bagels as the line moves along so you know you aren't getting any stale bagels. And for being a Manhattan location, I'm surprised their bagels only cost $2 a pop. You could dine in but not too many tables and it can get pretty noisy with all the people waiting for their food so maybe not the best place to sit, eat and chat if you're part of a group. I got the Cheech with whole wheat everything bagel. It was just as good as the original location and it left me quite content for the rest of the day.
