    Egg and Cheese

Tompkins Square was quiet the morning I went and then got super busy as I was leaving. I ordered an egg everything with eggs and cheese for just shy of $10. It was piping hot and very cheesy. It could've used a hint of salt but hit the spot otherwise. My normal order is an egg everything with scallion cream cheese but I was cold that morning and wanted a warm sandwich. The person taking orders was super friendly and cheerful, service was speedy, and I stood at the front window bar and ate. There are two small tables outside but it was chilly, shaded, and too cold for my taste.

Iconic bagel shop which was bustling on a Saturday morning. You get in line (moved quickly) and someone takes your order on a notepad, so you need to be a bit prepared with what you want, this does help with efficiency though. You can see them boiling and baking bagels fresh and the store smells awesome. I went with a classic lox, scallion cream cheese, tomato, on everything bagel untoasted. The ingredients were stellar, high quality salmon, flavorful cream cheese, and fresh tomato, but the bagel was a let down unfortunately. It was very dense and tough to bite. I'm hoping it was an off day.

A delicious bagel place for anything that you're craving. They have some of the freshest bagels and the sandwiches are more than enough to keep you going for a few hours. With many options to choose from, it can get overwhelming really quickly but seems like there are no bad options. They also have some seating in the front of the store too. Definitely a staple

Came here around lunchtime and opted for a Murray the Cop Bagel. The everything bagel had eggs, sun dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and pesto. The bagel was nice and chewy and dense. It's a pretty solid breakfast/lunch on-the-go bagel. There's some seating inside, but I do see a lot of people do takeout. That's all from me ty for reading :^)

absolutely delicious spread of bagels and cream cheese. They also have sandwiches as well and you can get different types of tofu spreads as well. The line moved extremely fast as somebody was taking an order and it was prepared by the time we had to pay for our food. There is also plenty of seating and space, indoor and outdoor.

So happy we stopped here to grab a bagel while in NYC. We had passed a few bagel shops. They all had really long lines. It was great that Tompkins did not have a line. I had the cinnamon raisin bagel with cinnamon apple cream cheese spread. It was delicious. The bag will have a lot of flavor. The cream cheese bread had small chunks of apple and also had a lot of flavor. My daughter had a pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. She also thought that they both had a lot of flavor. It was perfect bagel for the fall. The staff are super nice. We were able to find a table inside to sit at. The store is clean. They have a bathroom. The bathroom is also clean.

Great bagels! Best in New York? I dunno. But very good and kudos for the vegan tofu scallion cream cheese!

Love bagels and decided to give this a try. My boyfriend got a bacon egg and cheese and I tried the MCA on an egg bagel. It was huge! Tasted good, needed a bit more salt. The other breakfast sandwich was delicious. We bought some bagels to take with us. We will be back!

Even through the line was long, they were very quick. They had a great selection of drinks, bagels and cream cheeses. There was a decent amount of seating and the workers were very friendly. I got the triple crown on a sesame bagel. It was so good! The flavors worked so well together and the bagel was very good. It was nice and soft and chewy. The cream cheese was also super good, very creamy and not grainy. Everything was so fresh! Definitely one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had!

I was really excited to try New York bagels for the first time since I'd always heard how amazing they are and Tompkins really lived up to the hype! My friend lives nearby Tompkins, and we ended up going twice because it was that good. I loved how many bagel and filling options they had, especially the wide variety of cream cheeses. I went with the garlic cream cheese, and it was super fresh and flavorful. I also tried a bagel sandwich with egg, bacon, cheese, and the garlic cream cheese! I honestly wish we had bagel spots this good in California because Tompkins has definitely raised my standards for what a bagel should be. Also if you get overwhelmed by the options, don't worry because the staff were all super nice and patient with explaining the menu!

Bomb dot com. Just so delicious. Amazing. I ate it quietly and was very satisfied fast service too

Awesome little bagel shop turning out delicious bagels and breakfast sandwiches. There's a huge variety of cream cheeses, bagels, lox, toppings and menu options to choose from. I decided to build my own bagel sandwich, but you can order off the menu too. There's an extensive list that includes proteins like steak. I chose a toasted everything bagel with dill cucumber cream cheese, egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon. The eggs are what really blew me away on this sandwich. It was a soft scramble that wasn't overcooked. Perfection. The bagel was perfectly crisp and everything I could've asked for. The service was a well oiled machine as well. There are people taking orders on one end, they put your order in and you go to the register area to pay. They call out your name when the food is ready so be prepared. There's a small amount of seating but turnover is pretty quick. My friend and I were able to snag a seat and really dig into our food. They also sell a variety of beverages and other little snacks. Awesome spot and if I lived in NYC I would frequent it more!

Place to go if you want variety. I would say it's not my top choice for bagels but I would go there for the bagel sandwiches they also make other breakfast items like omelette The bread to filling ratio is spot on. We tried a few, the Garret, the Murray, the Salino. They were all very good. Love that they have vegan options. Everyone was friendly and there are table and stools available if you want to stick around to eat. It's not too many but just enough. They are very efficient and fast as well. Would go back again on my next trip to NY

I ordered a toasted gluten free bagel with cream cheese and what I got was cold and pale. I took a bite and it was disgusting. Many gluten free bread products need to be toasted to be edible which is why I always get them toasted. My receipt said toasted. The bagel was pale and cold. And falling apart. A different bagel store refused to sell their gluten free bagels untoasted. At least they didn't give me food that I couldn't eat. I will not be going back to NYCB&CH anytime soon because that experience left a bad taste in my mouth...literally. But if I do I will make sure to check my bagel before I go.

FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! A different bagel experience than some other places (as in, those places where you are served bagels topped with cream cheese and other things) but we enjoyed the simplicity of the bagels and controlling the amount of cream cheese.

Anyways, the girls had bookmarked another bagel establishment but the line was hella long like they were giving away Knicks gear for free. Ironically another "bagel shop" search on Yelp showed PopUp Bagels was like three doors down lol. No line! That in itself was making me question but there is a PopUp in San Diego that my daughter swears by. PopUp advertised itself as "Not Famous, but known." Whether or not this bagel is better than the one store three doors up is something I cannot attest to. However I can say THIS WAS A DANG GOOD BAGEL! And it was freshly made! How do I know? It literally burned my fingers when I ripped it open! The pain was worth it. Outside, a slightly crisp texture generously coated with "Everything". Inside was a dense and chewy dough that was pliable but able to withstand the dipping and shmearing of cream cheese (which was smooth). Best I have ever had for sure but then again my most common bagel experience is the place named after a scientist where tons of bagels are sitting in bins for who knows how long. So why wasn't this a 5-star experience? One, I only ate one thing. Two, sevice and setting are "just there". Considering it wasn't busy I would expect a bit more of a welcome. To eat you're bagel you can full on just leave, sit at the three stools inside where it is super hot (bc hey they actually cook), or three stand outside. There is a little, I'll say "patio", where you can stand, eat, and true story, watch two people argue about who gets to sort through the recyclables from the neighborhood eateries. Snack and a show???? I just stood near the door and enjoyed my bagel.
