This is the second Portuguese Barbecue spot in Flemington that I've tried and I really enjoyed this place! I think I prefer this one. Online ordering is available and was very easy. My takeout order was ready on time. It seems like it's largely a takeout pot but there is seating inside and it's very casual. There was couple enjoying their food with a bottle of wine when I walked in for my takeout order, though. We tried the BBQ chicken with Spanish rice and plantains, the steak with rice and cornbread and the pork ribs with plantains and black beans. We loved the tenderness of the chicken but didn't love the heavy smokey flavor that came along with it. Maybe the Hawaiian chicken will be different? The steak was seasoned really well, very garlicky, but wish it was a little more tender. The pork ribs were very tender and delicious. The rice was perfect and the plantains were amazing. I only wish they gave you a larger portion of the plantains. We also tried the beef empanadas and they were good too. The crust was very crispy. The cornbread side portion was huge, moist and flavorful and had bits of whole corn throughout. The black beans were standard and good. Next time I'll try the steamed veggies with garlic as a side. The overall portion sizes were huge and each meal is enough for two people or one really hungry person with some leftovers. This is a great way to have a semi home cooked meal as takeout. read more

The business specializes in Portuguese BBQ (which I've never had before), and it is AMAZING. I'm a huge BBQ fan, so this was the unexpected delight I never knew I was missing from my culinary palette. As soon as you step into the restaurant, it smells so tasty and wonderful your mouth will start watering right then and there. They have a wide assortment of items to choose from, like beef ribs, pork ribs, Hawaiian food, salmon, paella... which is not only impressive but also surprising that an establishment like this hasn't taken off into a mega-chain. But I consider this more of like a hidden gem that only exists in the central NJ area. They have three locations at the time of this writing, but I'm sure many more in time! I love bbq. Mostly Texas style but this place is legit. Hawaiian pork bbq is definitely my favor item on the menu. They had home made pork rinds also which weren't half bad either. Pichana Brazilian steak would be my second favorite. I've tried other "Portuguese bbq" joints in this area but this one is my favorite. I've been driving Rt 31 for years and finally decided to stop for lunch! I had their Hawaiian Pork BBQ platter with a side of vegetables and their fried Plantains. I really enjoyed the slightly sweet pork pieces and the mixture of broccoli, green beans and carrots - they were great! I'm not a fan of their fried Plantains as they had a rather chewy exterior and a very dry center! Maybe it was just a less than stellar batch but I would try them again since I really like Plantains... Just don't recommend frozen to fried stuff. Ordered the buffalo chicken twice and once it was frozen inside and the other time it was a little on the cooler side. When you open the door the smoke hits you and the smell made my mouth water. Our appetizer of Chorica (what I knew as Chorizo) is Portuguese sausage, onions & peppers ..tasted great and was a very large portion. We also had a pork Empanada which was very flavorful and not overly greasy. Main included: Pulled Pork sandwich and a 1/2 rack of pork ribs. The ribs had a nice smokey taste and the house BBQ sauce were a perfect combination for the fall off the bone meat. After walking in and smelling the awesome smokey BBQ aroma, I was quite disappointed with the lunch that I got. The pork looked awesome spinning around in that grill and on my plate, but we were disappointed that the meat was very tough, with an unbelievable amount of fat and sinew inside. The chicken was a bit better, but it certainly wasn't anything to rave about. You can get chicken like that anywhere. As for the vegetable sides, very basic. Steamed. Looked like it was out of the freezer and microwaved. Cole slaw was average. The fries were stellar though. Perfectly cooked and fresh out of the oil. No idea what to expect here, but I love pork. Got the Pork Chops & amazing. Seared beautifully, cooked perfectly, sauce is spectacular (I mixed the bbq & spicy vinegar, yum). Sides were coleslaw & black beans. Both...I repeat, both were great! Rarely do I find coleslaw that I like (think KFC but not as sweet), and they have it right. Even the black beans are really great, no joke! And no I'm not affiliated with these folks. Oh also, the price seemed a bit high for 2 chops initially. But the sides were each enough to share with 2~4. So $14.99 for a 2 pork chop meal with 2 large sides. Well worth it. If you live here and haven't tried, don't let this place be a miss. We come here at least 2 times a month. Peak hours they are always busy. That is always a good sign. We always order the Hawaiian BBQ pork, pork BBQ ribs and egg rolls or wings. The food always has lots of flavor and the portions are great. My friends at the Mercedes dealer across the street always order lunch here as well. I did notice a bad review which coincidentally came when a new place opened in direct completion with this place. Suspiciously the bad rating mentioned the other place and named people who owned the new place or worked there. Look at the number of reviews they have lol 2. Sounds like your typical fake review by the competition. Try it and judge for ourself. There's a reason this place is always busy and the new place is empty. But you make the call. My husband and I got lunch today - he got the brisket, I got the skirt steak sandwich with sides of Cole slaw and plantains. The people on the phone were nice and the place smelled great. However, the brisket was flavorless and tough with an extremely small portion. The slice of skirt steak on the black burned bun was so tough that I couldn't even take a bite into it. Cole slaw was fine, plantains were fine. We had seen good reviews about the quality of the food here- maybe we just had a bad experience but the food was Terrible and it was a waste of money during these hard times. We wish we could get our money back. We wasted our one night out this week here Update: I received a response from them- just asking which location and then absolutely NOTHING after. I've passed this restaurant hundreds of times, yet never stopped in. We were looking to order wings for Super Bowl Sunday, and decided to give Pork Chop's BBQ a try. We ordered 90 dry rub wing with blue cheese and hot sauce on the side. The woman who took our order couldn't have been more accommodating, explaining how their wings are prepared... my guys are fussy! We only called a day ( late in the day mind you) before. The wings were ready on time... and honestly... the best wings we've ever had! They were gone in the blink of an eye, and absolutely delicious.
