Was driving back to California from a camping trip and wanted some good ol' bbq. Found this place on yelp with an empty stomach and a craving for some ribs. When we ordered, the ladies at the front were super helpful. My boyfriend and I ordered the ribs and had sides of mac and cheese and beans. We killed the ribs as fast as it came out and then filled up on the sides. Great bbq sauce that elevated the meal. I wouldn't say I would drive back to AZ for this place, but the next time I'm in AZ I know where I'll get my bbq fill. Update 2-22-20 We visited again! It's so delicious! We had the opportunity to try the Mac and cheese this time and it was like homemade!! I'm fond of the Deluxe and this time my husband tried the Pork Sandwich! We both really love the flavor of their BBQ!! Our first visit and all I can say is WOW!!! Fantastic smoked meats that melt in your mouth, and the BBQ sauces are yummy depending on your personal taste!! We each had the deluxe with three meat options and two sides! We both opted for bbq beans, and potatoes! The beans were super tasty and waffle fries savory and hot! Our order was pick up and it was a bit busy when we came in. AZ's BEST BBQ!?!? If you are a fan of Little Miss BBQ, then you might be a slightly bigger fan of Pork On A Fork. Side by side picking the better meats it hard but when weighing in the sides and style options, Pork On A Fork might have the upper hand. Every time I have gone it has been a fast experience- in and out in five minutes. The staff has been very friendly and helpful making recommendations. One of my favorites was trying the gravy on the herb rice. I have tried the brisket, pulled chicken and pork. I was impressed by all of them. For the sides I have tried the (favorites in order) herb rice, cornbread, coleslaw, baked beans, side salad and potato salad. All are pretty tasty. Then for the sauces the mustard based is my favorite followed by smokey tangy, sweet and spicy. The spicy to me is not spicy at all. It is hard to say who has the best bbq in the valley but I think this place pulled it off. When considering the speed, service and food, Pork on a Fork is the best in AZ. I have been here three times within two weeks and plan on coming back often. Great job!! Overall, you have to try this place out for BBQ in AZ. read more

I mean... delicious Customer service was perfect. They patiently answered all our questions. They were busy with take out orders. Still, they got our order out nearly immediately. Location set up is great. Walking in you can see the prep and order. Through a short hall is the cutest dining area. Super clean and tidy. The food was exceptional. We ordered the Big Boy and shared it between two ppl. The meats were tender and savory. The mac and cheese was creamy. I've been here several times and have used them to cater family events. Flavors are always good. On my most recent visit, I tried their seasonal brisket chili. As expected it was good but I was disappointed in their packaging. The description on their online ordering system says it comes with toppings and 2 cornbread muffins. I received neither so I had to add my own toppings and shell out an additional $3.26 for 2 two pieces of cornbread. At just under $24 I won't be ordering this again. Two medium size bowls and a couple of bites of bread don't make it a good value. They should also update their ordering website to set clear expectations. Staff is always friendly and helpful. We ordered a good variety ( ribs , pulled pork and brisket) all were on the dry side but still edible slathered.with bbq sauce. I visited Pork on a Fork as I always do when in Phoenix and found it to be once again one of the best bbq places to visit when I travel. The pulled pork was juicy with the right amount of smoke. It's a hole in the wall spot that seems to be mixed in with some industrial buildings. You will pass this place if you don't look for the sign that says "bbq". Now what can I say about this bbq spot. It kind of reminds me of Dickey's bbq but not fast food tasting. Only bc it's a walk up order they put it on a plate for you. This place is actually delicious. Got my BBQ fix yesterday by stopping in at the store. Bought a full rack of the ribs, a pound of the pulled pork and six of the links. A couple of sides were included so I got the cornbread and the sweet potato fries. I had been a fan of when they had the 20 St. and Camelback location open, and this is the first time I have visited the Deer Valley location. All of it was very good albeit the ribs were just a tiny bit too dry. I like them a bit on the moister side. Of course, the pulled pork and the links were delish, especially with the BBQ sauce, which I got the "hot." They gave me plenty of the fries and the cornbread wasn't bad, but next time I'm getting the mac and cheese as the side. read more

A long time ago, this restaurant was great. Then the food quality slid substantially and after a few bad meals we stopped coming here. We haven't been to pork on a fork in about 4 years and today we decided to give it another try: IT WAS EXCELLENT. The meat was flavorful and tender, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable and I'm glad to see this place absolutely crushing the bbq game in north Phoenix. Enjoyed Pork on a Fork with my wife over the weekend. Interesting location being it is in industrial area but must say, I really loved the seating. Upon entering, you place your order in an assembly line fashion. You get your grub (or they bring if something is delayed) and had to down a side walkway to the massively large dining area in the back. As the pictures show, the large dining area is full of picnic like tables with a few televisions. A great area for a large party. As for the food, today I rolled with the sample platter of chicken, pork, and brisket. All were good and the available sauces were also tasty. My wife and I loved the macaroni and cheese and sweet potato fries. The pasta salad was different but good different and the cornbread was just okay in my book. Overall, we enjoyed our time and meal and would visit again if in the area. On a side note, beverage brand was RC. I highly prefer Coke when knocking out BBQ but that's just me. I've given Pork in a Fork multiple opportunities over the years and once I'm there eating I get reminded why I usually go to places like Naked Q and Little Miss BBQ. POAF's meat is dry and that's final. I've had brisket every time I've gone and every time I'm disappointed with dry brisket, regardless of whether I ask for fatty brisket or not. I've eaten brisket all across the country and at more than 10 different places in Texas, so I know what good brisket is, and this is just not it. At this point I'll never return. read more

This place has really gone downhill over time. My brisket today was one notch above a frozen dinner. Tough yet somehow mushy at the same time. No bark on the meat or smoke ring. I honestly don't even think it was bbq'd. I'd guess they roasted it in an oven and added some liquid smoke maybe. The rice was dry and stuck together. The Mac n cheese was gluey. read more

In the meantime, while you're waiting for it, let me tell you how absolutely delicious Pork on a Fork is. I decided to sample a whole bunch of different things. So, I got a combination platter with brisket, pork, and chicken. I normally don't eat red meat, but when you were faced with the possibility of the best, you give it a try. And I was not disappointed. The meats were all moist and delicious. The barbecue sauces were all really really good and complemented the meats. And then there were the sides. I'll absolutely love love loved the sides. I got a little bit of everything: creamy mac & cheese, classic homemade coleslaw, to die for potato salad, mashed potatoes with the most delicious gravy, and green beans that are soft and salty.... in the best way. I attached a sampler plate I made myself. All was yummy and there is food for days! Woohoo! But I didn't just love the food. Every single person when I went in there to pick up my order was so friendly and helpful and caring. That really does make a difference. In this time when we truly need to support local businesses as much as possible, this is one that will not disappoint! I heard a rumor that they're doing smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. I have not posted in a while but figured this was post worthy. The Deer Valley location first time there it was interesting. The staff look overwhelmed I went at 11:30am today, no one was really in there yet for lunch. We will start with my bill $30, what did I get the brisket and pulled chicken, my sides were mashed potatoes with gravy and mac. I got an extra small side of potato salad just try my fav 3. So the brisket not sure if they were having a bad day but no bark had a boil taste no bend, no smoke ring and hard to pull apart. I threw 3 pieces in the trash ate around the good parts. Also had the chicken eating it naked wasn't appetizing but put their gold sauce on made it much better. The mashed potatoes with gravy was good and the mac ok. The potato salad dear lord don't serve it, it was like raw potato cubed with dressing. My partner had the pulled pork which was great, and brunt end sausage no good. Just serve brunt ends don't put it in a sausage its just weird. He is on a veggie kick so he got the green beans he tossed them in the trash. To much vinegar and looked canned. So eating here get mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and pulled pork. You will walk somewhat happy. Do it without being a sandwich bread costs more. read more

Most recently my three meat platter consisted of dry pork, dry chicken and dry brisket (even after asking for moist brisket when ordering). I have to preface this with the fact that we have eaten here dozens of times. It is the first thing my parents ask for when they land on a plane from the Midwest. The food is second to none. The service on the other hand is often sub-par but tonight it was downright awful. They have decreased their hours since COVID but we are still trying to support local businesses so hubby calls to order carry out around 5: 35, 25 minutes before they close so I can pick up on my way home. They say they aren't taking any more carry out orders and proceed to hang up on hubby. He calls back to ask if I come in if we can still get food and they tell him yes as long as we get there before six because, "they close at 6 on the dot!" Fine I'm 15 minutes out. I get there at 5:50 and when I step in the door the guy across the room at the register starts yelling at me and asks if I have a carry out order. I said no. He proceeds to tell me then I can't get food because "they don't have time to do any more orders." Um what?!?! I said my husband just called and we were told to come in before 6. Couldn't get food so I turned around and left. Unreal that when small business are struggling they turn customers away. I'm not sure if the manager/owner has promoted this behavior by employees but they act like they are walking out the door at 6:00. They can't be bothered to serve customers. You would think they would want the business. I worked food service for YEARS before healthcare and as long as people were in the door before closing we served them. Even sit down restaurants that were going to take an hour or more. I was simply trying to get take out here tonight. Leaves a really bad taste in my mouth as we have seen behavior like this before from the staff there. Super disappointing but we will probably stop coming here as I just can't stomach the complete disregard for customer loyalty. read more
