BBQ grill with meat and cheesy corn and mushroom
    Evan C.

I'm not supposed to be eating fatty pork but this place is sooo good that had to come here. It's really for pork belly BBQ lovers only but for those it is like heaven. You get so many side dishes a Banchan, including spicy bean sprouts, onions, kimchi, also ttokbokki and tofu soup. Plus you get cheesy corn. However, only the basic Banchan, pork, and rice is included in the all you can eat. The pork belly is delish and comes with multiple dipping sauces. Goes well with everything else. Oh, you also get lettuce so you can wrap everything. They give you scissors to easily cut pieces. For the best in all you can eat pork belly Korean BBQ this is the place!

Looks like Sooda has rebranded into a new restaurant featuring (optional) AYCE pork belly. Can't say there are too many places like this around. Parking is rather limited in the area. There are metered spots. Best to come after 2000, when the parking becomes free. The inside looks a little bit like a nightclub, with the pink/black theme, and funky neon lights. Staff are friendly. They weren't too attentive though. Had to wave them down several times. As of the time of writing, the AYCE pricing is better on weekdays (Monday to Friday). The AYCE comes with unlimited pork belly slices, banchan, mushrooms, and onions. The corn cheese, lettuce, and bean paste stew are limited to 1 order only (additional cost for more orders). 90 minute time limit. The banchan has green onions, regular onions with sauce, pickled turnip, bean sprouts with spicy sauce, and kimchi. Generous portions, decent quality. Goes well with the pork. Corn cheese - nice and gooey, and served in a small iron skillet. This thing disappears quickly though. Bean paste stew - basically a shared bowl of soup. Not sure if there is more than 1 bowl for larger tables, but would hurt to ask. Lettuce - well, it's lettuce. According to the instructions, the pork belly is actually supposed to be wrapped in lettuce with a bit of bean paste smeared on top. It's a bit clunky, but doable. The grills are electric and adjustable, so the heat can be adjusted as needed. They do come by regularly to adjust, but it's not hard to push a button to dial the heat up or down a notch. Buddy and I noticed that the middle of the grill cooks faster than the edges. Something to keep in mind. The staff initially showed us how to cut the slabs of belly into little chunks, but honestly it was way easier to just eat the pigs by the entire slab like a burrito. Honestly, as much as I tried to enjoy the experience, it was mediocre. The provided bowls were too small, so my buddy and I were fumbling trying to assemble the wraps without spilling everywhere. Having plates would've been nice. The bigger problem though was that there's basically only 1 kind of meat. Yes there are 3 types of dipping sauce (salt, tangy, spicy), but at the end of the day it's the same meat again and again. Even with the banchan and stew mixed in, honestly we stopped eating because we got sick of eating just pork belly, not because we were actually stuffed. With that said, nobody left hungry. Honestly I'm not sure what to think. Yes this place is different, but at the same price point, there are other options out there like AYCE hot pot. Maybe try it once and see for yourself.

Porker face is located at the old Sooda location along Lougheed Hwy. Came by on a Thursday night and there were lots of available tables. It was $33/person for all you can eat pork belly and your time starts the moment that you sit down so make sure your whole party is there. The meal comes with corn cheese, soup and lettuce which you can get refilled for an additional charge. However the banchan, rice, mushrooms and pork belly is all included in the cost. For each refill they provide one slab of pork belly per person which they then cut into smaller chunks to cook on the trip. The pork belly is pretty cooked so you really just finish it off on the grill to heat it up. I thought the pork belly was over done in some pieces and others were fine. I would have like it if they provided more lettuce because it was literally one leaf per person....two would have been slightly more reasonable I'm not sure I would revisit just because the meal ended up being heavy and I like more variety in my meals but it's worth a try if you love pork belly or want to try it just for the experience.

Had a great time at porker face. We thought it would be busy on a Thursday evening but it was actually empty! We got a table for 8 at 6:30pm easily. Ideally you have your whole party there because they start a pretty strict 1.5 hour timer once you sit down and have meat on the table. It's $32.99 on weekday evenings. There is only one thing - unlimited pork belly! They give you rice, lettuce and soup but those are not refillable. However, the side dishes, pork belly and enoki mushrooms are unlimited. Side dishes were tasty - I particularly liked the bean sprouts, pickled radish and green onion. We got a total of 8 refills of pork belly and lots of side dishes between 8 people so we think we made it worth it.

Wanted to try this place out and saw it all over so media. Definitely need to make a reservations on the weekend, especially if you have a bigger party. I was pleasantly surprised with the cost, quality of food, and service! Food came out quickly and our server gave us good recommendations for portions sizes. Refills came out quickly, atmosphere was kinda of loud but in a good way where people were happily eating and talking! Would definitely love to come back again with friends!

5 stars for everything here! The food is delicious and that cheese corn so delish! Service is impeccable as the staff is super attentive. The ambiance is very fun with cute decor and upbeat music. Highly recommend Porker Face.

Sooooo good !! I love ayce pork belly. The server kept coming by to attend to our meat so we didn't really have to do much. It was great

All you can eat pork belly -- come hungry! The servers were quick to replenish the pork belly when asked, and they cut it into pieces for the table. The price is good for all you can eat, but be mindful of all the add ons that can raise your cost.

Still in soft opening but here is an affordable AYCE Korean BBQ place. It's under $35 for dinner which is awesome. The key is it's all pork belly so if you don't like pork belly then this isn't the place for you! The pork belly and some of the sides are unlimited but you do have a 90 minute limit. The service is awesome too!

We also got prime grade beef short ribs, marinated short ribs, and brisket point. I would say this can easily be shared by 4 people because it's a lot of food! We ate all the meat but had a lot of the soup and rice left. It was $140 for all of that which when split is pretty good! My favourite was their brisket point. Their soup was also veryyy comforting!! My other two friends got their glass noodles and Korean pancakes. The glass noodles were delicious!! Very flavourful. The pancakes I thought were a little too oily. I would definitely come back! The service was fast but I thought it was very strange that they wouldn't provide more than 2 takeout boxes for a table of 5.

The flavors were deep and comforting, just what you'd want from a good Korean soup. The decor is not much but quite intimate and cozy. The only downside is that the quantity of meat felt a bit on the lighter side. The kimchis, though, were really good as it was fresh, tangy, and perfectly balanced. There was no welcome tea or rice tea, which I kind of expected, but the service was prompt and friendly. Alcohol and other drinks are a bit pricey, but that seems to be the trend everywhere now with the strike. Overall, a great new addition to New West. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu

I think the only thing stopping them is the rather "bad" (not too visible) location. The 5 star rating for dinner remains.

The second time there were clams and lamb neck? The things that were the same: tomato egg, dumplings, steamed baos, chineze fried donut, and cold dishes like bean sprouts, smashed cucumbers, tea egg, tofu dessert. They also have hot soy milk for drinks. Their deep fried chinese donut has got to be the best I've ever had in my life. With the price of a pair of fried donut being over $6 these days, I get my fix here. Other things are standard, good but not outstanding. I really like having soy milk to drink instead of water. $18.88 is getting a little steep for a limited choice buffet with not too many meat choices. The crab/clam are a nice addition but if there are days without it, it wouldn't be worth. I would rate the food from this place higher than the similar chinese lunch box style place in richmond, K squared mansion.

No wait to be seated on a weekday at 11AM. Decently close to the trolley station as well so it's walkable if you're rolling on public transit. The roast pork skin was so crunchy that it was almost hard to eat and the meat itself was also slightly tough. However, the char siu and soy sauce chicken here are life changingly good. Char siu is so fatty that it pretty much melts in your mouth and the outside is the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The soy sauce chicken is just incredible. The scallion oil is the perfect bright complement to the uber tender, almost slippery chicken. FOOD: Food was so yummy! We got the lunch menu and we tried everything! I really loved the marinated beef options! I recommend doing the non-marinated meets first and then working to the marinated meets to not only preserve the grill (even though you can change them out) but with how heavy and more complex the flavors get, I believe thats my best route always! They had cold noodles, which comes in a small, single serving bowl. I loved having that first as an appetizer because it was so refreshing, especially on such a hot day! We also got the ssamjang and lettuce to accompany our meats, best choice ever!! The butter corn was super yum too, not too overwhelming or heavy! What we did was we finished the butter corn and added garlic, that you can get for free, and crisped it in there! Not only does it add flavor, but if you want to toast it, it wont fall through the grill! They also have a plum margarita which I tried and it was super yum! I think a lot of people won't go for this option, but as someone who always loved salted plums and likes to try new things, I did not regret choosing this over whatever other popular drinks they had. This is my fav underdog! For dessert, I had the dough sticks (which they put as an appetizer) and ate it with the vanilla ice cream they offer (one per person!). Such a yummy combination. For another dessert option, they have almond milk, which was also delicious! If you're not familiar with this dish, the consistency is a cross between pudding and jello, where it's soft and pillow-y but holds its shape however way you scoop it. The taste is subtle, slightly sweet, overall so good. 10/10 for this food experience! AMBIANCE: This is a place that you shouldn't feel pressured to dress too nice in. T-shirt and jeans kind of vibe! But the aesthetic of the establishment itself could totally warrant cute pictures in a more dress-y outfit! SERVICE: Shout-out Iris! She was so sweet, so accommodating, constantly checked in with us, 10/10! Always making sure that whenever our plates started to look a little empty, she was there to take our order! Every question we had, every order we wanted, anything and everything Iris was there for us! So awesome, so sweet, thank you so much Iris for taking care of us!!!
