Service was great. Fish and calamari were great. Shrimp was good. Chicken was pretty below average to me, just strips you'd get from a drive thru or gas station. Hush puppies were great. Fried pickles were great but holy cow the serving size was beyond necessary. I know it's a weird complaint to make but I think they could cut it down from 12 spears to 8, knock a dollar or two off the $10 price and come away with a bit better profit to product ratio. My hubby and I have been here several times. Always great food and excellent service. Food is made to order and they keep their cooking oil nice and clean, so your food is a nice golden color and not greasy. Portions are huge. We share! I love their Deep Fried Pickles too!! The worst fish and chips I have ever been served. The menu price on Yelp is $12.49 for 1pc fish and 4 prawns. We were charged $19.49 when we picked up our Togo order. When I tried to eat the fish, there was so little fish I opened up the fried piece and it was mostly breading with a small amount of fish scattered inside. Inedible. read more

Seems like a local favorite. Freshly fried, hot, and crispy. For two, we got the combo 2 fish and 1 scallop to go. Every combo came with cole slaw and a sauce; we chose the standard tartar. I was worried that the fish wasn't big enough so I ordered another fish on the side. However, the portions are very generous and I probably didn't need to order it. The fish pieces were roughly 2" x 8" or longer. The fries are half curly, half wedge and delicious. Caution with eating the scallop too fast as there were super hot juices that can burn your mouth. I get their fish and chips on a regular basis and they're tasty, however, it's just a bit greasy for my taste. So as soon as I get home with them, I blot them with a paper towel and then they're good to go. They give you a choice of skinny fries which are just plain french fries, or, their wedge potatoes. Very friendly staff, delicious food, and generous portions. The calamari is DElish! The fish is great,,,not too greasy, and the sweet potato fries are definitely worth the upgrade. They home brew their ice tea, and it's awesome. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the size of the dining area. We continue to spend our $ here in hopes they will eventually buy the spot next door and bust out the wall to make the dining room bigger. Still, you can take your food to go if you need to. We have just left Portside fish & chips. This was our favorite place 6 months ago. We went pretty much every Sunday. Today, the employees were friendly. We got a family deal and sodas. This was the worst fish we'd ever had. My wife saw the look in my eyes after my first few bites and asked how it was. My reply was, " it tastes like soggy mashed potatoes." it was nothing like the fish we used to get. No flavor, no texture. No amount of malt vinegar or tarter sauce could make this edible. My son tried his and said that it reminded him of those tubes of yogurt"Gogurt." You squeeze the breading, and the fish paste drops into your basket. My wife wanted to return it for something else. My son and I just said, " Nope. We are done. " we weren't even going to bring it to our dogs. We have befriended a feral cat at home, and we hope he will eat the 7 pieces of fish.
