My wife and I, who are locals, went here a few nights ago. We had the Coleman's honey glazed salmon, Southwest black bean burger and a calamari appetizer. We are all pretty fussy when it comes to food but each of us thought everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We shared the Keylime pie for dessert, and it was fantastic. Great portion size too! Our waitress couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, without being too intrusive. The atmosphere here is spacious, airy and relaxed. The location is hard to beat also. So I have to say, I was actually really surprised with the place. It had such a cool vibe and the interior remodel was so much better than the previous restaurant there. I like the Asian flair they have going, although I didn't try anything like that, I was glad to see so many gluten free options or things that could be made gluten free. The reason I give them four stars is because I asked about their bahn-mi and they said that for GF, they serve it on sliced bread. There are so many roll/gf baguette options. It is a sin to serve a bahn-mi on slice bread. So instead of getting that, I got the burger and it was solid. The a-1 aioli was a great dip for the fries and I think their ranch is homemade. Pretty solid, I would come again. Just get better GF rolls and baguettes for your sandwiches instead of sandwich bread slices. read more

Great little joint by the water. Food was excellent! It's not too large but it has a good size separated bar area and apparently, area tucked in the back as well. My husband and I both were impressed with the taste of our meals. I had the pineapple shrimp skewers and he had the new steak tips dish. Great food and service. I ordered the mussels and frites with a hot baguette. It's actually an appetizer but it's so big that I order it as an entree. The famous pulled pork nachos are the best. It's not really nachos more of a fried wonton. But it's so addictive. I have had the veggie wraps and those didn't have flavor so I never reordered. Overall, great food and experience. read more

Stopped by tonight with my mom and daughter (3 years old going on 16) and was impressed! The thing that I first took notice of was that instead of coloring for kids they instead give tins of action figures (in pics). Coloring holds my kids attention for maybe 2.5 minutes but with the little action figures she kept herself entertained for pretty much the whole time!! Our server Mike was very attentive and gave some very good recommendations. The food was very good as well! You can tell fhe chowder is house made and everyone as more than satisfied, with their entrees. Additionally the drinks were made perfectly. I often go to restaurants and they either make drinks super weak so you cannot taste any alcohol or its the total opposite and so strong that you cannot drink it! Thankfully they were perfectly made and not obscenely priced! All and all it was a very enjoyable meal...the only complaint I have is that i didn't save any room for dessert read more

Drinks, apps and entrèes all great and worth the $. Service wasn't anything to write home about. The decor and atmosphere was pleasant with outside patio that faces independence park where they hold week long 4th of July concert series. Asian style nachos are awesome on wonton chips. Tuna is fresh. Veggie lettuce wraps refreshing. Burger with housemade pickles and A1 aolie. Chicken very tender and moist and mashed potatoes very flavorful and creamy/ cheese. Specialty cocktails you won't find anywhere else. Tried the oatmeal cookie vodka cocktail, strong in a good way. Would definitely go back. Was so full by the end I couldn't even try a housemade dessert. Will be going back for another coffee cocktail and I must try vanilla bean cheesecake. read more

I have a friend that lives super close to Portside and this is one of our go to spots to go to together in Bristol. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here and I've been numerous times for Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. They have a variety of items on the menu to choose from and while I haven't tried everything, I don't think you can really go wrong with anything you choose; everything I've had from here has always been excellent. We tried the Portside last night. We were so impressed! We had reservations, but went to the bar first for a drink. They have outdoor seating, but we were happy to eat inside after being in the heat all day. Their watermelon margarita was delicious, not too sweet, and actually refreshing! We had the seasonal hummus plate for an app, as well as the Korean pork nachos. Both were very yummy. For dinner, I had the black bean burger. Normally, I would have had something from the "sea" part of the menu, but I had a lot of seafood during the week. The burger did not disappoint! It was freshly made, and not mushy like some black bean burgers can be. The service was very accommodating and attentive. We sat on the bar side, so the bartenders were in charge of us. Great people. I live in Bristol and this has become my all time favorite restaurant. I have ordered most things on the menu and for the prices, the food is exceptional. Some of my favorites are: wonton nachos, soft pretzels, clam chowder, shrimp skewers, Portside burger, and the steak tips! They are frequently very busy so there are some flukes once in a while when it comes to seating but I also come here almost on a weekly basis so it's bound to happen. Usually good food however the last few times we've gotten take out the food has been lack luster/made incorrectly. This is the pesto chicken sandwich I ordered without onions. Came with onions and the chicken itself is a very thin sliver and overcooked. The other picture is of how much arugula came on the sandwich, with even less pesto. Tons of mayo. One star because that's automatic in Yelp. I'll add another because our server was great and the food came out pretty quickly. The third is only because others I trust have had really good meals there. But my dinner last night was almost inedible. The chicken marsala was ... wrong. The sauce was so thick it was like a pasty gravy (you never add flour to this sauce except the bits that are left from your chicken dredging), poor quality marsala wine which never got reduced enough, hardly any mushrooms. The chicken itself was actually perfectly cooked. The broccoli rabe tasted like someone (barely) cooked it and dropped it in a bucket of salt before plating. The mashed potatoes were good. The person who had recommended (and also) ordered this dish had had it before and said it was nothing like the one he'd had before. Port side salad was a light refreshing lunch. It included bed of greens, seeds, and crumbled cornbread and other yummy eats . Portions were plenty big. I haven't had such a good healthy salad at a restaurant in a long time . The lettuce wraps were a delightful tasty surprise. The staff was terrific. Outdoor eating relaxing. Last Sunday, friends and I went to Portside Tavern for dinner with a 6:15 reservation for the outside patio. We were very specific about wanting to be outside due to covid concerns and it was a beautiful day. When we arrived (10 minutes early) we were told that there were no outside tables and it would be at least an hour wait. Apparently, people who just walked in were given the table "reserved" for us, so the reservation was made irrelevant. Inside was fairly sparse, so we decided to move indoors, despite some hesitation. Within 15 minutes, the restaurant was packed so much that we felt extremely uncomfortable. No waitstaff were wearing masks, no customers were masked and everyone began visiting other tables, standing right over our table as we tried to eat. We left as soon as possible and won't go back ever again. Now, I have been to Portside for lunch on a few occasions this past summer and sat outside, which was lovely. I enjoyed the pulled pork tacos. Unfortunately, the lack of honoring our dinner reservations and cramming in as many people as possible with little to no concern has ruled out visiting again. I'm not a review guy and I understand we're living in a covid world - but this place needs a bit of a wake up call and I do believe there is potential here. For starters out party of 7 was sat in some weird afterthought of a back room. Clearly a function room with no windows turned into a place to flip tables. No music, super uncomfortable furniture and just odd at best. My first drink, the "hot & dirty" sounded like an interesting take on a dirty martini. It was warm and arrived mid way through our appetizers. Undrinkable I ordered a dirty martini - also warm. I ended with a vodka soda. Thankfully that was on ice. 3 people at our table ordered the mahi tacos. The side salad looked like it was made 7 hours earlier. Wilted lettuce and inedible. The tacos themselves were served on a disposable napkin. Super weird and really not much flavor. Our bill was around $500. Like I said, I know we're living in a weird time, but the food was a let down, the drinks were terrible & the timing of the service was off - also PLEASE stop using that back room to sit people.
