I've been to other Greek restaurants in Miami like Maria's, Mykonos, and Taverna Opa and this is by far the freshest and most authentic. I had the lamb YOUVETSI CHILOPITES. We had the most amazing dinner tonight at Poseidon Greek Restaurant. First we were treated to ouzo when we sat down and a nice tapenade with grilled bread. We ordered the flaming cheese which was so good and served with grilled pita. We had a variety of lamb chops, leg of lamb, chargrilled chicken and sea bass and all were expertly prepared and served.the staff could not have been more helpful and attentive! We made a mistake in our wine order, but the staff accommodated us so nicely. Excellent service & food. Traditional Greek food. Our party had the assorted Greek spread platter with tzatziki, melitzanosalata (eggplant), taramas (caviar spread), turokauteri (spicy feta spread). The Choriatiki (Greek salad) was fresh (except for tomatoes) and light. Oil olive was very tasty. Mpifteki Gemisto (stuffed burger) satisfied my husband and his meat loving friend. Our friend loved the Pastitsio (thick macaroni with sauteed ground beef,garlic,onions, fresh tomatoes, topped cinnamon bechamel). The sides were generous and good. I don't think our waiter visited the table once after taking our order, and seemed rather upset that we only ordered 2 apps and a salad ($56 worth of food for 2 people). The food was pretty salty. Had the Greek salad, dip platter and spanikopeda. They then put 20% gratuity on our check (for 2 people)... A check that we had to wait at least 10 minutes for, after our table has already been cleared. The place was empty. No reason for bad service. I had such high hopes for this place so maybe my review is a little skewed. I will start by saying the service is really good and attentive. Anyway we ordered the calamari and the baked feta as appetizers. The calamari was good, it was obviously good quality and not chewy or anything but maybe a little on the bland side. The baked feta was my favorite thing we had, my Hubby disagrees but I loved it, it had grilled onions and capers on top and it was just super yummy. We both had fish, I had the swordfish and he had one of the ones you fillet at the table. It was pretty cool to watch them fillet the fish at the table. Again though it was definitely good quality fish but kind of bland. My swordfish entree was good but it was a little overcooked. I really loved the greek fries--get them! Yum-o. Everything was good but nothing was like fantastic knock your socks off amazing. I think they could go a little bolder on most everything, except the feta and the fries--those were on point. Came here based on best bang for buck. Got the grilled octopus, but I found it to taste/texture like grilled chicken. I also got the leg of lamb, which was what I expected from any Greek restaurant. Hands down one of the best fish dishes I've had and the best Greek salad I've had in the states. The feta and tomatoes tasted as good as I have tried outside if Greece. You cannot go wrong with the grilled whole fish which they filet table-side. It is a taste of Greece in South Beach with down to earth and welcoming service. A must try. read more

While visiting Miami for holiday, my girlfriends and I came to Poseidon for dinner. I didn't pay much attention to the decor, but there was a huge scenic picture of Greece behind the bar that definitely made the space open up more. The service was great - everyone was very attentive and friendly. Our water glasses were never empty!! We all shared the dried calamari, which was really good; the squid wasn't too tough though the batter could have been a little more fried, in my opinion. I got the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was great! Really good steak. I would highly recommend. A couple of my girlfriends shared the seafood pasta and I had a little nibble of it and thought it was pretty good as well, but I didn't have much of it so I don't think I can accurately say one way or another. Another couple of girls shared the Aegean Sea Bass and I did get several bites of that. It was AMAZING. Crispy and slightly lemony skin, perfectly seasoned fish meat, and they debone it at the table for you! Overall, we all had an amazing experience at Poseidon, from the fabulous service to the scrumptious food. The food was pretty good however they were lacking in the service area so I thought 3 stars should balance it out. I had the seafood linguini ... my two friends had the octopus and sea bass which all three were great ... However the waiter made the mistake to bring us two sea bass instead of the one that was ordered... Then he implied that he confirmed the order which he didn't btw.... SOOO they wanted us to pay for the extra one ... That wasn't the problem ... The problem was how he was basically insinuating that we were trying to get a free meal... The manager came to our table and apologized for the misunderstanding and assured us that we did not have to pay for the extra sea bass which no one wanted to take back .... But the waiter had to mess up again and write on our bill that his 'tip was not included' ... Um I guess he thought we couldn't read lol anyway overall my experience was not great ... But like I said the food was good but not worth the miscommunication and stereotypical attitudes read more

I just came back from Poseidon Greek restaurant on Miami Beach. It is hard to find authentic traditional Greek food in Miami. The food is spectacular. The chicken kebob skewers were so tender they satiated most of my cravings. The Greek salad was a combination of multiple tastes and flavors. The garlic bread was toasted to perfection. This is a mom and pop restaurant that is a reflection of a lot of love and passion for Greek tradition and pride in their cuisine. read more

Delicious, delicious food and fantastic service. We had only left half an hour to eat, pay and get out because we're idiots, and the staff duly rushed everything out and it was still pristine and flavoursome beyond belief. My date gobbled down the grilled octopus and I went to town on an expertly grilled swordfish. Both were crazy tender and bonkers yum. I went based on the fairly good yelp reviews but did not have a great experience. My daughter faired the best, she had chicken kabobs in a marinade of lemon and salt that she really enjoyed, the chicken was tender and there was a nice sized helping of potatoes and asparagus. She was the only one in our party happy with her dinner. My son had pasta with seafood but the seafood was mostly very large rubbery calamari (usually he loves calamari), not a lot of seafood. I had scallops. There were 3 scallops, they tasted ok but for the high prices I would have expected more, I left hungry which is unusual. My husband felt the same, he got tuna, he did not think it tasted very good and it was a small slice of tuna on a plate with 2 overcooked pieces of asparagus. Prices are high, portions are very small and taste was mediocre. read more

I really hate to leave bad reviews. However, I would also hate for someone else to be mislead by the menu and end up with a bad experience like I did. I will compliment the fact that the Greek unfiltered wine was fabulous. We ordered "Authentic" Saganaski came with a thick layer of breading that added an unauthentic taste and texture. It was heavy and salty. Secondly we ordered the "world famous" Grilled Octopus. The first bite of the end crispy, charred tentacle was delicious! It was cooked to perfection. Then, I moved up and it was so salty that I my tongue pruned! So, our final try was the "Grilled" artichoke topped with feta. It came out in a baking dish and was the canned artichoke that is marinated. Three strikes! I asked for the manager and (of course) he tried to tell me everything I "thought" was indeed incorrect. But, when the check came, the 3 dishes were removed. What an unfortunate outcome from a well needed night out with a good friend. I will now go home and be bloated. read more

Came here for dinner. The atmosphere was lovely. I really like the white and blue decoration. We ordered salmon and a salad. Both of the dishes tasted good, though the salad was a bit too sweet. We also ordered desserts. They were good. The service was not so good, though. We were supposed to be served by one waitress, but other waiters or waitress kept come and asked whether we ordered or tried to take away our plates. So the service was a bit mess. And we need to pay 20% tip for that service! that makes me not happy. read more

It's my tried-and-true rule of thumb: If you're new to a location, wherever you happen to be, look for a Greek restaurant, and you will not be disappointed. Greeks know food, service and hospitality. It's kind of what they do. So here's my brief yet bangin' review of Poseidon. It's freakin' awesome! My dinner companion got a free glass of champagne just for checking in online, so do that. As for cuisine, the grilled calamari is succulent, fresh, smoky and divine. The "Real Deal" Greek salad could not be fresher, crisper or more toothsome. The feta cheese they use is mouthwateringly scrumptious, unlike any I've tasted outside of Greece. As for main courses, do yourself a favor and order the chicken artichoke. It's unbelievable! And all dishes are totally shareable. To sum up, Poseidon absolutely deserves five stars. I'd give ten if I could. read more

First time ever eating at a Greek restaurant, and it has left a good impression with me. Our server was awesome and hilarious. The award winning octopus was amazing! Excellent recommendations all around by our waiter. Excellent atmosphere. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead 5, was solely because of the high prices.
