The food at this restaurant is alright. The leg of lamb was cooked well and tasted quite nice. The main issue was with the pile of mushrooms and the overly lemony potatoes. I had to scrap the sauce off of the potatoes to eat them. That said, the potatoes were actually in and of themselves cooked well. The Greek salad is okay..mostly just chunks of feta and tomato with no lettuce. As a warning, they already add in a generous 20% "service charge" and do not make it known clearly as they then ask for gratuity on the bill. read more

Greek food at its finest! Peter, our waiter offered us great suggestions and was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He also was incredibly patient with our party of 8! The grilled octopus was great for one of our appetizers. Surf and turf Souvlaki was my entree with lemon baked potatoes and grilled asparagus. The beef was perfect! We ordered the cheese filled pastry with ice cream for dessert. Nice choice of Greek beers and wines as well. We dined inside, but there was outside seating. On a recent trip from DC to Miami Beach, after having some bad dining experiences on Ocean Drive, we decided to go for Greek food on Christmas Eve (we are Greek). I have to say that we were impressed by Poseidon. The decor is tasteful, upscale and sophisticated. The owner goes around to great the customers and help in any way. The waiting staff are Greek, very friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu and able to make excellent meal suggestions. The menu is very interesting. These guys have a passion about Greek food. Fish arrives fresh from Greece every day! Everything we tried was excellent. Especially the leg of lamb was divine, melting in your mouth. The oven potatoes are like nothing you've had before. The Greek salad is awesome; nothing like the generic "Greek" salad you've certainly had in many Greek restaurants. And of course, they use only Greek olive oil! Prices are reasonable too. The evening we ate there, there were tourists from Italy, France, us Greeks, and several local Miami people eating there too, all having a great experience. Poseidon, and the folks working there, transported us to Greece for a few hours, and that was the best part of the whole experience. Congratulations! read more

I would definitely recommend Poseidon if you are hankering for some good authentic Greek food. My husband and I went there while on vacation. We started with the grilled octopus appy which was really good. It was nice and tender with a great char on it. I love grilled octopus, but find that most places either overcook it leaving it dry or rubbery, or don't marinate it enough to make it super tender. Poseidon hit the mark on this one. Our mains were varied. I ordered the whole grilled Branzino which was the best that I have had so far. It ruined me for future grilled Branzino's anywhere else since it was THAT good. Herbaceous, tender and juicy with the perfectly crisped and salted skin. The portion was so big that my husband had to help me (I don't think it was a hardship since his fork seemed to continually gravitate towards the fish). Between the two of us, we still couldn't finish the whole portion. My husband's choice wasn't quite as spectacular. He ordered the scallops which were fine.....tasty, but run of the mill. I think that the key is to stick to typical Greek dishes and you and your stomach will be very happy. read more

Plenty of tomatoes and large pieces of cheese with olives, cucumbers and a wonderful dressing. The calamari came with a fantastic sauce that had us licking our fingers. We ordered the chicken and lamb kabab dishes. Large portions. The chicken had a wonderful marinated flavor while the lamb was a tastier meat. Both were excellent on their own way. The lemon potatoes were filling and we had asparagus, spinach and the fries (which are fantastic). Services is right on.. They made no fuss when we shared everything and brought us plates to use. We ordered a Greek salad, 2 minutes later changed our mind for Greek sausage, the waiter told us the dish was already prepared. Hard to believe the salads seemed prepared. The drink special is not really 2 drinks for the price of one, instead they have the same South beach gimmick going on, 2 people have to order drinks and both get a free drink. $16 a drink ouch. We had been really excited to try out this restaurant ever since we moved into the neighborhood because my boyfriend and I LOVE Greek food. Finally found time to go on a weekday night, but what a let down. :( We sat outside, and all of the white cushions on the chairs are disgustingly dirty. Like, they seriously look as if they have not been washed, and they have definitely never been washed with bleach. Moving on past that, they were out of several items on the menu. Of course we weren't warned of this first and spent time carefully deciding what to eat, only to order something they did not have. With a small-ish menu, I just don't understand how that happens. Anyways. Finally ordered the Moussaka and the salmon. The Moussaka was just eh at best. I mean, it was ok, but nowhere near as good as what I've gotten at other places. The portion size was good, though. The salmon was ok, but this portion size was very small for the price. (The other prices on the menu seemed to be appropriate, especially for the area.) Overall, we were disappointed with the experience and will not be back. Plenty of other delicious restaurants to try in the neighborhood. read more

This restaurant was not very good overall. The food was decent but the atmosphere outside was horrible. I had two random people interrupt my dinner. They also had two different types of music playing loudly from the restaurant and the store next door. It was annoying and made me want leave. The food also took awhile to come out and my mash potatoes were cooler than I normally get them. Because I waited so long for my food, I was so hungry that I filled up on bread making it difficult to finish my meal later. I recommend sitting inside if you come here. Went to Posiden last night 4-29 -2019. I have been to the restaurant many times with friends who know the owner and the food has always been good. Last night we ordered the flaming cheese, tarasomolata, a Greek salad and the grilled calamari. The flaming cheese came to the table and no lie its was 4 to 5 inches thick. Flaming cheese is only supposed to be a quarter inch thick. When the waiter lit it nothing melted it was solid hard cheese. I called the waiter over to tell him this is t write and he told me I was wrong it always comes like this, NOT TRUE. The grilled calamari was horrible it was drowned in a tomatoe sauce and there was only 3 pieces of calamari in the entire dish. The Greek salad came and the vegetables were mushy. The taramosolata was way to salty and fishy. The waiter took the flaming cheese back after we went round and round about it. We asked the waiter to remove the food which to he honest there was 1 bite taken maybe two from each dish. It then took 20 minutes to get the check after asking for it. The host came to the table when he saw I was figiting looking for the waiter to get the check. I explained what had happened and he spoke over me ignoring what I was saying u till I raised my voice saying the meal was not edible and verged on disgusting. He was shocked and the waiter came over and I explained what had happened again and all either could say was sorry looking dazed and confused. If I was the waiter I would have grabbed the manager to talk to us. Instead I paid the $100 bill for the appetizers and we left. This was a sad example of how not to treat people when the fikd is horrible. read more

We just had dinner. Let me say this- the red headed waitress has no clue what's on the menu. If you work at a greek restaurant you should know what a gyro is. There is no way in hell you should serve a chicken pita. Then act like its my fault. You don't even know what saganaki is? You should also know what sides come with a meal, and offer educated options to your patrons, not let them order the same sides their meal come with. Have you ever worked before? This may be her first job, but she should take pride in her job. Being from Chicago, and married into a Greek family- this place is a joke. Miami, I'm sorry if this is your #1 award winning "authentic. Hire real servers who know what they are doing, and don't over cook the octopus, then serve it cold. The whole concept is disgusting. $36 for a plate of less than mediocre- cold, over cooked octopus with a disgusting yellow sauce, "side salad" with no dressing, and 10leaves, with cold mashed potatoes is a sad play at meal worthy of that price. Thank you red headed waitress for recommending the old-frozen spinach and feta, served cold as well. Please train your staff. Don't ruin the Greek legacy by being a joke. read more

Not sure what all the fuss about. Slow service, food ok. Needed descent place to have lunch before walk on the beach. I had two children of 4 years old with me. Ordered from lunch menu which is very different from what shown on website. It literally had 5-6 options and one of them lamb gyro was not available. Lamb-Greek restaurant-not available. Chicken gyro was chewy. Fish and cheeps was ok. Kids spilled one of their juices right after we ordered it and we were not offered a replacement...one of the the waitresses was kind to charge my phone and I am very thankful for that. Took long to get food and check even though we were literally only customers at that time. Later two more couples joined... and restaurant only had two waitresses. read more

One of my favorite places in Miami Beach. I've done lunch here multiple times and every time it's fantastic. They always start you off with a delicious grilled bread paired with a sumptuous tomato and feta dip, absolutely fantastic, I could make a meal out of that alone. After that, I always go for the fish dishes and they are fantastic. I especially recommend the salmon and swordfish dishes. read more

First time in south beach and wanted to find a nice place to eat and we honestly had the best experience we have ever had in a restaurant! We went a few hours before closing on a monday, so the place was really chill. Our waiter was incredibly genuine and so funny. He really believed in the food, and hyped up how tasty our meals will be. We had such high expectations because of the restaurants ratings and because the waiter told us stories about how good the food is, and it honestly went beyond our expectations. The pasta, was to die for! I've never had such tasty pasta, especially at a greek restaurant. So glad we searched up what restaurant to go to, and found this gem of a place.
