I could walk 1 block to the post office, but I choose to walk 9 to this Postal Annex+. The staff is super friendly and we even had a conversation about funky stamps. I had some questions about postage and weights and he was super helpful. He even mentioned about getting stamps since the price was going to increase. (Great marketing standpoint). I've used this place to both pick up and send out stuff via FedEx or UPS. I think they also do regular mail, too. The real hidden gem here is the wide selection of unique greeting cards. They have the LovePop pop-up cards that are really beautiful. The cards they have don't feel like generic grocery store cards - they're very high quality. I've had limited experience with Postal Annexes, but if you would have asked me what I thought the customer service would be like before entering this one I'd have guessed it to be similar to that of the DMV. Man was I wrong! I had to return a Cox Cable box the other day, and it was a rather pleasant experience. Not only was the woman working the counter very nice, she even gave me change to fill my meter while she put together the paperwork citing how brutal the local meter maids were. I didn't need them for much that day, but just on shear politeness if I need a Postal Annex of the future I'm heading to this exact one. read more

You don't expect much from a post office but you learn to expect the best by going here. This postal store taught me that I've been, and continue to be, short-changed at all other postal stores/offices. As others have said, the employees are friendly, professional, and fast. Really get a neighborhood shop feel here. I never encountered lines here more than a few people long. Every time I need to ship anything, they seem to always know how to handle the specific situation and walk me through it - be it Half.com, eBay, or whatever. Love this place. I highly recommend Postal Annex in downtown San Diego. My wife and I, who are new to the area, had a short deadline for Notary Services, copying and overnight deliver of Escrow documents for the sale of a property. All to be done on a Sunday. I sent out 3 requests to various Notaries and Postal Annex responded immediately. The owner advised me the store would be closed on Sunday but she would be there working on projects and my wife and I could knock on the door at designated time and she would handle our services. Sure enough, all went according to plan and we were so grateful for the excellent service. The cost was also very reasonable and competitive. The lady at the counter was nice and friendly. I had to send out a Christmas gift box to a friend and did not want to pack it up on my own (there were some fragile items in there) so I came here. Easy as pie. She took out a box, packed the items in for me, asked me for mailing info, gave me my choices, and told me the price. All with a friendly demeanor. Prices weren't too bad, and since I was there already, I picked up some stamps that I needed. Nice neighborhood place. Took the time to carry a large mailing I was sending out, even had postage on it already. They told me since they had to take the mail to the post office for mailing, my envelopes would be to much for them and could not accommodate sending my letters out. I was dumbfounded!!! You are in the business of mailing/printing services right??? They told me I would need to be the one who took them to the post office. So i did and recommend not to use this business. I am not a fan of standing in long lines at the post office so I usually head down to Postal Annex which is a block from where I live. The owner, Ferrel is just about the nicest and coolest person I know. She takes pride in her store and gets to really know her regular customers. I mail stuff, fax stuff, make copies, and buy random but cool things. She has some mentally disabled people come to her store once a week to work for her and I can't say that many other companies do the same. If you ever need to mail something and you live downtown make the trip to this Postal Annex and you will not be disappointed! read more

I love coming here because when I ship with them I get my email confirmation on shipping status sent and received . I was prepared to give a four star review based on a "no postal annex merits five stars for any reason" but then I read the other three five star reviews and realized that they've got a good thing going at this postal annex. I've walked by this place a billion times, but it wasn't until I needed a box large enough to hold a small hotel blow dryer (long story- don't ask!) that I walked in. I got quick, friendly service and the interior had a homey, neighborhoody vibe leading me to think that I had stepped into a store from some other decade (a friendlier, more neighborly decade.) The people who work here are the BEST! I rented a medium PO Box for two years and it only put me back $250.00-$300.00. Which is pretty reasonable, considering the fact that the poor employees have to deal with me calling all the time to see if a particular piece of mail has arrived. Lol. They never seem to mind. I arrived around lunch time on a Monday to mail a shipment and the line was out the door! I was reconsidering whether I should come back at a different time, but I decided to tough if out. And even if I don't have any of these needs at the time, I have found the perfect card for many occasions and many high quality (but not expensive gifts) that are great stocking stuffers at the holidays or just a Thank You for small favors I have received. I strolled my lil luvpug here because (1) I needed to get a packet out and (2) we needed a walk. I luuuuv any joint that welcomes pups and this place was definitely pet-friendly. The staff was very efficient and nice. I mailed a Flat Rate USPS envelope and paid a few dollars more than I would have at the post office - but it's worth the convenience and shorter lines. I enjoy the warmth & the community feel of this establishment. I would most likely return. However, I'm taking 1star off because my package never made it to the destination. Yes, the address was correct. Yes, I had the "to-be recipient" look for it at their front door, the back door, scatter their junk pile around... even interrogate the family & pets. No dice! Perhaps not totally the Postal Annex's fault. I don't even know where to start to track this packet. Note to self: pay more for over overnight deliver with signature required & tracking capability. read more

I was so impressed by this place today that I had to write a Yelp review! I walked in with a big package of large photo prints that I needed to mail to a bunch of different people. I wasn't really sure how I was going to send them safely so that they wouldn't get crushed and ruined. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - it was the sort of service you tend not to see very often these days, especially in the city. The staff member who helped me showed me the right packaging to buy, helped me package it up, dealt with my anxiousness and multiple requests, and got everything shipped quickly and efficiently. I really didn't know what to expect walking in, especially after expensive FedEx and their lackadaisical employees in Hazard Center, and the downright rude and cranky USPS employees in Linda Vista, but I will definitely be returning to Postal Annex to ship things in the future. read more
