We started off with the stuffed fish ball appetizer and I highly recommend. I loved the seasoning. My sister tried their calamari before and she said it was okay, but recommend the other appetizers. I got the curry fish ball hot pot and medium spicy is perfect. It satisfied my cravings especially on a cold day. It had a good amount of beef and fish balls. My sister got the recommended house special and we loved the broth. We love the firm fermented tofu but you can always opt out of it. I can't wait to try their other flavors. My party and I went around 5:50 to 6:00 and we made it just in time before the dinner rush because the place filled up in the next 20 minutes with a large line for both takeout and dine in. The interior is mid sized compared to other dining areas in the same plaza, but it should have plenty of room for a meal. Before we ordered, we made sure to identify which items had peanuts due to a peanut allergy and the staff were helpful with finding which items were peanut free. The appetizer we ordered was the fried pork blood rice cakes and they were chewy with some spice. The tomato and tofu was the non-peanut based item and it had a nice light flavor with some spice to it. The beef broth was nice, but a bit too salty. The meat was precooked and added to the pot with other assortments of vegetables and items. I was really disappointed with the service here. The young white manager was extremely rude and came off as entitled and unprofessional. Instead of addressing concerns respectfully, he spoke to us in a dismissive way and acted like being the manager gave him the right to talk down to customers. There was also an Asian female staff member who was equally unfriendly and rude. The overall attitude from multiple employees made the experience very uncomfortable. Customer service and basic communication skills seem to be seriously lacking here. The only positive part of our visit was one young male Asian staff member who was genuinely kind, attentive, and provided great service. He was the only one who made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff's behavior really ruined the experience. I've been here before and the service and food was great. Today we came in before a few other people and told the girl that we were ready to order. The server totally ignored me and went to the next two tables (one who came in after us) to take their order than she went to the bigger table who also came in after us and took their order. We had to flag down a guy name Eli who has "store manager" on his tag and I told him we've been here before other tables and we've been ready and you're taking orders for people who sat down after us and he rudely said you can see we are busy what would you like to order?!! What kind of customer service is that? And not only that he gave me this rude look like I'm just complaining and I should probably shut up! I'm spending my money here and I get treated like I'm just complaining because they're busy! Not my problem that you can't handle being busy or taking into account that someone is ready and was here first before other tables! No apologies other than to spit back in my face that YOU CAN SEE we are busy! I will never come back here again! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting a friend at Pot On Fire for lunch. She and I live about an hour away from each other, and an hour away from the restaurant. We're are constantly on the lookout for new hot pot restaurants to try and Pot On Fire was our next spot. I read the reviews, good and bad, and went in with an open mind. When we arrived, the restaurant was well lit, spacious, and clean. I like bright rooms, it's good for the spirit. There were about half a dozen or so families in the restaurant. We were promptly greeted by Eli, who sat us down and gave menus. He asked if we'd been there before. We let him know it was our first time and he thanked us for giving them our business. It felt nice to be appreciated. I had questions about different pots on the menu, to which his knowledge blew me away. He was pleasant and attentive, not only to us, but everyone in the restaurant. The food was equally enjoyable. My friend and I both got the satay which was incredibly flavorful. Some reviewers noted little meat in their pots or soggy vegetables. That wasn't the case with ours. We had plenty of meat, with plenty to take home. The veggies were also plentiful and perfect. Christian circled the room, ensuring everyone had what they needed, including refills on broth. He was equally pleasant and accommodating. It really stood out to me. Once finished, I asked for a container to take my broth home. Christian topped me off and gave extra satay paste. The inside is clean, has plenty of tables and several booths to service big groups as well as smaller parties. To order, you scan the QR code at your table and place your order through the app. The Table # is assigned to each QR code. Very efficient! My favorites here are the Sukiyaki and the Taiwanese Spicy Beef Pot. However, my go-to is the Taiwanese. So flavorful! It's one of their larger pots (only comes in 1 size) and has so many delicious meats. IMO, this is the most tasty pot on the menu. They have 4 Spicy levels: Mild, Medium, Spicy and Dangerous. I'm a spicy fanatic and have a very high heat tolerance so I get Dangerous. It's so hilarious to see the staff's reactions every time; they've said "Wow, amazing because I can't. It's horrible!" which cracked me up because honestly, it's REALLY SPICY!!! Lmao I love their honesty and I've seen them advise certain customers against this and I think it's cool. They look out for your safety and I must agree; unless you know you can handle, don't! So choose wisely! Personally, I freaking LOVE it and I actively choose this dangerousness. Lol Depends on the day and time you go too, you can get extra meat for a discounted price or free drink (tea) with your pot(s). Staff is very friendly and attentive, always on top of getting you situated with seats as soon as you walk in. They take their time to ask if it's your first time to make proper recommendations and answer questions to ensure you enjoy the dish(es) that you choose. There were four of us, and we were seated at a booth, but it was uncomfortable, so we moved to a nearby 6-person table (two tables pushed together: one for four, one for two). While one of us was in the restroom, a staff member came over and abruptly asked, "Are you really just four people?" Without waiting for a proper response or giving any notice, they moved our utensils to a smaller table, insisting we sit there instead. No apology, no explanation. To make things worse, when another group walked in, the server took the utensil set from our original table and handed it to them--right in front of us. That was the final straw. We left immediately without ordering. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there was absolutely no reason for this kind of rude, dismissive behavior.
