Went for the first time approximately two weeks ago, and the individual who served us seemed, perhaps, on the new side, but was really polite, thoughtful, helpful and kind (hence four stars, instead of three). That said, my observations suggested not all of the service people were helpful... in fact, some of the other people behind the counter were pretty rude, barely acknowledging us prior to the individual who offered to help us, and the food overall wasn't that great. I really love the veggie sub here. Very tasty. Potbelly gives a wide variety of ways to personalize the sandwich and that's great too. I could eat here multiple times a week. I tried this sandwich shop a few months ago and the employees were very rude so I haven't gone back in a while. I figured maybe things have changed over the last few months obviously they have not. A lady taking our order was incredibly rude. They have no communication within themselves and the whole ordering process was horrible. First time trying this place and I'm pretty sure I'll be back before I leave. I'm in town for a conference and this place is right across the street from the hotel. I tried the grilled chicken and cheddar cheese on wheat with bacon, a dab of ranch, lettuce, tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Maybe I was really hungry but I thoroughly enjoyed it. For those who have never heard of this place, it seems to be a cross between Firehouse Subs (everything is warmed/toasted) and Subway because you can pick your toppings. But the one difference that I saw is that they sell shakes! Yum! Wouldn't have thought about shakes and sandwiches, but why not? I'm sure there is more to this place that I haven't mentioned, but I was in a hurry and didn't get a chance to linger too long. And they also sell Zapp's potato chips!! Yes!! Fast and convenient. The line wasn't long when I came in around 11:55am on a Tuesday. I find it a little odd how the menu in store offers a slightly higher price than the online order menu. Also the tax percentage is way different. After reading a couple reviews about the online order doesn't seem to work, I thought I might as well avoid the online fee and order in store. But because of the price/tax difference the total ended up about the same. Maybe they lower the price online so that customers don't have to pay extra? Maybe. My roast beef sandwich wasn't bad. I just wish there was more meat and veggies in it. It's not something I'll be craving in the future as the sandwich is very ordinary and mediocre, but it's possible for me to revisit for its convenience. Potbelly's, what would I do without you? Located next door to my job, I find myself here a little too often. Back when I was tan and living in Miami, I would often crave their chicken and cheddar sandwiches. I was thankful there was a potbelly's located in the southwest terminal of BWI airport so I could grab a sandwich before I headed back to the 305. Now, I get it all the time!!!! They have the best breakfast sandwiches (I dream about them) and even their salads are dope. I'm currently chomping on one as I speak, and this is big considering I hate salads!! First time in this place was for breakfast. I was looking at all the menu options and looking for a breakfast menu, I didn't see the sign "order here". I just went to the end and asked the employee. She gave me an agitated yes. I gave my order and she didn't bother to tell me the next step. So I scoot down the line to the register and waited. Another lady starts shouting to me, what did you order? I'm a little confused because there is only me in the shop at this point. How could she not know what I ordered? So I tell her, she as asks what toppings. I tell her none, she asks again and points at a board, again I tell her none. The lady at the register looks annoyed to be there but gets me out the door without incident. I returned that afternoon and got the same annoyed/agitated behavior from the staff. There isn't a whole lot to choose from and I'm not sure if this is standard but the only cheeses to choose from were provolone, swiss, and cheddar... :/ I told the gentleman at the counter I did NOT want my sandwich toasted but it was toasted anyway. I used to use this place because its convenient for where I work. However, sometimes I have to place an online order for pickup. Every-Single-Time I have done that, it gives you a time to pick it up. It is NEVER made when I show up. They always end up making it while I'm standing there. The point of online ordering is because someone doesn't have time to wait in that long line. The worst experience I've ever had at a Potbelly ever. The guys making sandwiches were dismissive and more involved in their conversation about smoking pot than they were in making my sandwich. Open conversation about drug use is not OK. I don't care how high you got before work or last night.... There was one other person in line and they still asked me at least 3 times what I asked to have put on it as they put on then took off toppings I didn't want (what if I had a food allergy?). The whole ordeal took close to 20 minutes since I had to go back and remind them to give me the pickle that I ordered and paid for. They guy from the register ended up using the same hand he takes cash in to dip in the pickle jar and grab it. Truly awful and frustrating. I told the guy on the line to listen to me when I gave him my order the second time, which got me an eye roll and he STILL got it wrong.... Never going back to this location. Potbelly is one of my favorite sandwich shops and I'm glad to see them opening up lots of cities. Their bread and ingredients are all fresh. I especially like their breakfast sandwiches. The bacon is peppery and meaty - yum! You can add tomatoes and other veggies to them to make them "Western." This location is like their others, clean with a nice busy ambience. Potbelly is tasty, cheap, and reliable and this location is clean and efficient. The workers are friendly and move the lunchtime rush through quickly. The chocolate brownie cookie is amazing and I'm a fan of the seemingly little-known breakfast. An egg, cheese and bacon sandwich with all the veggies (note: the bacon is cooked nice and crispy like I like it!) is only $3 and way tastier than McDonalds or Starbucks.
