We live nearby and figured that we'd eat dinner at Pounders. It's not like we have many options for a sit down restaurant in the area. I think it's been a year or so since we ate here last. The first thing that jumped out at me was the prices went up tremendously! The pounders burger and fries was $25! The last I remembered it was either 16 or 18 dollars. I knew things were going to be interesting when it took the waiter (not going to name him) 20 minutes to even come to our table. It wasn't busy by any means. We had many things go sideways just from ordering. Little things were missed. The only thing that happened quick was when the check was brought out to us! There were some other things that didn't go well but I don't want to pile on. The place is still nice and clean. People are still friendly. I expected more for the prices they are charging now. I doubt I'll be eating here anytime soon, unfortunately. read more

We were driving by to get some show tickets and decided to get a quick bite before driving home... oh, wow! NOW, this is my new DESTINATION spot for the best burger I ever had!!!! Swiss Mushroom Burger is simply PERFECT. Great combination of taste, texture, smell, sloppiness. It's awesome. Add to it the most marvelous French fries imaginable. Thick(ish) fries with just enough crisp on the outside but soft insides. Yum. The other half had clam chowder with shrimp and THAT was a great meal in it of itself. This is an awesome place to eat for lunch or dinner! Upon entering, we received a warm welcome from the team. There was no waiting time -- our group of 15 was seated right away. The food was excellent! We ordered the family meals, and I personally had the garlic shrimp, fish nuggets, and taro chips. Everything came out on time, warm, and exactly as ordered -- even our special requests were handled perfectly. This is a great place to stop for food after the Polynesian village. Menu is diverse and has something for everyone. Although a bit on the pricey side. Our server was really slow at welcoming us, getting our menus etc. He was kind enough but considering it was a near empty restaurant he could have been quicker with things. Food was outstanding. Try the sun fish if you want something impressive. My mac nut crusted fish was delish as well. My husband enjoyed his tacos. The smoked marlin was tasty and a great snack. read more

Sooooo delicious!!!! We had a late night dinner here and it was wonderful! Staff were great! I requested to have the mushrooms and onions removed and they very kindly did that. We spent the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center and decided to eat before we headed home. The restaurant was fairly quiet so seated right away. Our server was friendly, provided great service. However the food was very average and not worth the price. Two of us ordered the Korean fried chicken and neither one of us were satisfied with our meal. There was more breading than chicken, which was overcooked. Not enough sauce. Husband thought his meal was just okay as my brother in-law did as well. Took my family to Pounders restaurant for my wife's birthday luncheon. When we walked into the restaurant we was greeted by the hostess and seated to our table quickly. The waitress came and we all was ready to order because it was not our first time there. Or food came in a timely manner. The appetizers and the main dishes came quickly. We always have such good service everytime we come. Today was no exception. We tried something new today and we would get it again. We shared the Holy Cow Pizza. It has grilled chicken with BBQ sauce and a drizzle of ranch. It also has French fries which sounds weird but it works. We've tried all the pizzas here and this is our favorite one. read more

Always like eating here and supporting the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the students. So todays lunch was good, but here are my recommendations to makes it to my liking. After lunch I also gave my thanks and recommendations to the Head Chef Fongu. 1) Yes there's a list. We ordered 4 dishes, after a 15 min wait all but one of them arrived. There seemed to have been confusion with the ticket and there was no Fish for the Fish Tacos. It no one got back to us on it. and we had to order another dish 5 mins after the other dishes were on the table. Btw no discount or a free offer given for this mistake. 2) The Huli Huli chicken is not bbq but oven baked. It was tasty and tender. Nice Ulu mash and fresh steamed vegetables. What ruined the whole dish was the glaze. The glaze was salty and it was poured over everything! Will Oder it next time without the glaze! The Korean Fried Chicken was good. 3) Lastly the dish we had to reorder was a delicious shrimp rice bowl. This was delicious. The shrimps were cooked perfectly and it was tasty. I just found out today that Pounders is run by a private group of owners now. It only seems to be getting worst here. So I came today to have my favorites but no moa. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and was very disappointed. No flavor what's so ever. So I asked for salt and more sauce cause it was pretty dry for the dish. I will say that their taro bread toast was good. If you are gonna take over a well known establishment at least match its location which is Polynesian Cultural center. I usually don't mind prices but for what they serve and how they serve it the price was overrated. On another note bring your fly swatter. Flies galore. This trip to Pounders was just as unremarkable as the last. Don't recall the server's name, sadly. But they were lackluster. Their demeanor was as if we were bothering them! The Huli Huli chicken was awful. Overdone, dry and tasted like the sauce was burnt. The veggies were so undercooked, they might as well been raw.
