Dessert that is literally so fluffy it's like eating a cloud if I could - the Cereal Milk flavor was made for a sweet tooth, and the fruity pebble topping made me nostalgic for the grocery store cereal aisle. Powder is such a gem. I always forget about it and then go back and wonder why I'm not here all the time. The shaved snow is so light and melty, almost better than ice cream honestly. I've had the black sesame which I'm super picky about and they do it so well. Ube is also a fave. Get toppings. They totally make it. The combos are thoughtful, the flavors are clean, and it never feels too sweet or heavy. One of my favorite dessert spots in SF, hands down. read more

the snow is solid. they have diverse flavors, like earl grey, thai tea, cereal, and more. i got a large snow, green tea and cereal, topped with condensed milk and strawberries. it's not as milky as i'd like it to be, a little more on the icy side, but the flavors are prominent. the green tea is aromatic and the cereal milk stays true to its name. i love condensed milk on any iced dessert. the perfect topping. inside, there's only one bench, and the waiting area can be cramped. you'll likely be lining up outside on a busy day. they also have a few tables outside. parking is almost impossible to find. the staff is helpful in explaining the flavors. read more

Small shop with a mighty menu. I believe there is only a bench for seating inside, but it's still a good spot to hit up after dinner if you're looking to satisfy a "I want a sweet treat, but not too sweet" craving. Portions are as-expected for the price. My favorite snow topping, mochi, was soft and fluffy. The strawberry snow (I think) has milk, so I'll probably order the guava next time, as I tend to prefer sorbet flavors. Bring a jacket to eat outside - SF summers are chilly! read more

Stopped by after dinner with a friend! Tiny little storefront with a few tables of outdoor seating. Staff was great in helping me choose a small Earl Grey, no toppings. The snow itself was airy and very strongly flavored, but more pleasantly than anything. Nowadays, sub-$5 for any dessert is a deal, so props for that as well. Will be back! read more

Really wanted to love this place after seeing influencers rave about it online. The shop itself is quite small with limited seating areas but a great neighborhood to walk around. The service was kinda neutral. Not warm. Not cold. The dessert itself was an experience. I love the selection of flavors and toppings they had! You can do a half/ half scoop though only in the large, which makes sense cause it takes time to create the shaved ice. It's a nice cute small shop and it smelled amazing walking in because the workers were making croffles- something they also sell there. I got the black sesame w/ condense milk, mochi and strawberries & they made it so quickly. Super delicious and refreshing! I enjoyed it all:) def will come back to try other flavors! read more

Love love love! It's so hard to find fluffy snow ice (which is a style of Taiwanese shaved ice inspired by the Japanese kakigori). This place does it so well. The ice is so fluffy and melts perfectly in your mouth. You can pick two flavors for the large size. We got guava and pineapple. The ice block itself is already infused with the flavor so once it's shaved, they don't add anything it's just the flavored ice itself. You can add topping if preferred but I personally like eating it the way it is especially on a hot summer day. read more

I came to Powder (Shaved Snow) on a Tuesday night with a friend. Even though I like the blue and white aesthetic on their menu, it was a bit difficult for my friend and I to read. We ordered a regular sized Thai Tea Snow with waffle cookie crumbles and toasted marshmallows as our toppings. After receiving our order promptly along with a free postcard that I asked for, we sat down on the one bench available in this small location. The texture of the ice cream/shaved ice reminded me of my childhood days of trying some fresh snow in the winter. The "snow" was made in front of us, and it tasted quite fresh. After a filling dinner, my friend and I felt that one regular sized snow was good for the both of us. The thai tea flavor was not too sweet and also not too cold for an autumn night in SF. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone visiting this area! read more

Stumbled upon powder when I was in the neighborhood and was excited to try it when I found out they served Taiwanese style shaved ice. I was pleasantly surprised and come back when ever I am in the neighborhood. Its not super authentic in the flavors and toppings they offer but that's ok because I'm not all that big of a fan of red beans and mung beans anyway. The shaved ice is delicious and my family really loves it. They offer a number of flavors as a base and extras can be added as toppings. They do offer a waffle cone and I would recommend having that. Would be nice to see more fruit options and condensed milk as a topping. Seatting inside is limited to a bench and there is a few tables outside. read more

Shaved ice was amazing. We ordered the Horchata and the Matcha Green Tea, both topped with sweet milk. They were soooo good! The reason I don't give them 5 stars is because of the service. We got there 8:45pm, 15 mins before closing time and my daughter said "Hi" to the girl there only to be greeted by a side-eye and an eye-roll from her. So not nice! We immediately felt uncomfortable and kind of ruined the experience. Ambiance was ok. The place is super small with almost no space to sit down inside. It was ok for a quick and easy dessert though, mainly bc of the service. It would have been an amazing experience otherwise. read more

Was in the area with a friend and decided to come try powder again for a sweet treat! Went over at around 4 pm on a Saturday and this time I noticed their new and seasonal flavors. We took a little time to order and the service was very fast once again but the staff was rude. They lightly yelled at my friend from across the shop to finish the tip screen and didn't seem very interested when we were ordering our items. Kid Size Passionfruit Snow with Sweet Milk Glaze, Organic Strawberries and Mochi - Decided to get the kid size and it was more of a perfect size for me as a small dessert. The passion fruit flavor came through, wasn't too strong and it was still creamy as before. The toppings added different textures and the organic strawberries were sweeter and not frozen this time. I love the concept of the single serving, build your own shaved ice but the service I am a little iffy on. read more

Great little spot that satisfied our sweet cravings after spending a whole day hiking out in Mt.Tam. Even though it was cold out, we decided to grab some snow ice because this stuff always hits. We weren't the only one thinking the same because after we ordered, there was a line out the door... They had a variety of flavors and toppings to choose from. I got the horchata with some mochi and azuki beans on top. It wasn't too sweet, which was great - only wished for the fresh mochi balls. They have outdoor seating, not much room inside. Walked in to this place after dining out and eating something extremely spicy that it warranted a sweet treat! The shaved snow - with cereal milk - was just so flaky and light refreshing that I easily saved my palate from the spicy dinner! I combined this base with a cookie crumble topping and the cookies were also really well made. The folks were very friendly and helped me find the right size bowl :) there is not much space indoors except for a tiny seating area - to sit and enjoy, but it's on Divisadero so you could just walk out and stroll the streets! read more

I've been wanting to check out Powder for a while and everytime I drive by, I can never find parking. My other half took me here this past weekend and it was all that I thought it would be. I got a kids size sesame shave ice with adzuki bean topping. The ice was creamy and not too sweet with a ton of black sesame flavor. The adzuki bean topping was thick and paired well with the nuttiness of the black sesame. The service was quick and the smell of the croffles almost made me order one! But I'll try that next time I return. Now that Bingsu has gotten popular, I'm glad there's a place like Powder around. You don't have to spend over $20 for an order that requires 3 people to eat before it melts. read more

Mixed experience here. We ordered 4 different flavors: strawberry, Thai tea, ube, and Vietnamese coffee. We had trouble tasting the Thai tea and ube flavors. Strawberry and Vietnamese coffee were more noticable. The workers had trouble getting the honey out but they made it happen. Only indoor seating is this small bench so y'all will have to brave the elements outside. read more

Soo sooo good!! I love this place DOWN! If yoy love bingsoo (Korean shaved ice) you need to try this spot! They let you custom flavors and toppings I will keep coming back here! Their seasonal guava flavor was amazing. I got passion fruit and thought it was way too sour but my topping balanced it out. I got strawberry flavor last time & highly recommend that too. Service was great. The shop was a lil small but I always just sit in the car after grabbing ice cream from here. 100/10 read more

I got one of their Croffles with cinnamon sugar, whipped cream and toasted marshmallow. It was SO GOOD. The croffle is really a next level dessert. It is rich, and I shared the regular size with one other person, but damn is it good. It is definitely worth getting the whipped cream with it. Really excellent place. read more

The snow was good.. plenty of toppings, got the large black sesame, mochi, strawberry, and sweet glaze. $6.50 for large and .50 cents for each topping. It's a tiny place with one bench against the wall for seating, But i think more patio seating but it was raining. Just delayed service and a bit of attitude from the person taking my order for less stars. and not the most velvety snow i've had but pretty velvety. I checked out this place because their website advertised it as Taiwanese shaved ice, but honestly, it has nothing to do with the real thing at all! I tried the passion fruit and matcha flavors. Personally, I liked the passion fruit more--it was tangy and sweet, very refreshing! The matcha flavor had a bit of a grassy taste, but their mochi was really good! Also, their shaved ice texture is super soft and not too creamy or heavy, which I really liked. Overall, I think the prices are pretty reasonable. I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

Got the Thai crepe cake instead, which was the only cake not sold out. I like the Hokkaido more. Overall, the dessert is not too sweet! Service is solid. Nothing too crazy or attentive, just average. With most cookies, I usually can only tolerate having a few bites, or need to have a coffee in hand to enjoy it, but I didn't feel like that was the case here: both treats were delicious. The store is larger than it looks with some seating along the sides and back. I opted a small cup of the lychee black tea and auntie Kendra's garden. The lychee black tea was INCREDIBLE, strong, strong tea and fruit flavor, perfectly creamy, and not too sweet. The more memorable of the two, however, was definitely Auntie Kendra. It was a vanilla base with salty plum juice, passion fruit, and preserved lemon peel. The delicate vanilla, the lemon aroma without the sour tang, the floral, exotic passion fruit, and the unexpected punch of salt and earthiness from the plum juice, this is a WHOPPER of a flavor. Every bite allowed me a new appreciation of the layers of flavors in this scoop. While a bit pricy, Garden creamery is on par with the other local ice cream spots in SF and well, the flavors and my enjoyment of them speak for themselves. The interior is more industrial and small and definitely more of a grab and go, or sit down for a quick few bites type of vibe. My friend and i got a few things to try, but the standouts were the mulberry danish, and the kimchi bacon Danish. All the pastries were crisp, with many buttery layers and were clearly well made but these two had the most flavor and stood out as offerings that are a bit more unique compared to other bakeries in the city. We also tried the black sesame kouign amann, which was more reminiscent of a morning bun type pastry, and the cubano and the ham and cheese croissants, which were good but just lacking a little in flavor. Overall, Juniper has excellent pastries, and I'll definitely be sure to grab a plain croissant next time to try it out as well - some pastries pack a bit more flavor than others but given how quickly the like moves I'll definitely be back again to try some of their othering offerings soon!

I usually don't drink/like coffee, but the guava cold brew sounded so interesting I couldn't resist. The fruity jasmine tea somehow paired so well with the coffee and made it a nice refreshing drink. I was also lucky enough to try the matcha crepe cake, which I believe they get from Lady M. It had really nice layers and was light, but unfortunately it was a little too sweet for me. I had came here a few days ago, almost a week ago and I ordered a cereal killer, it was absolutely amazing! I loved the consistency of the snow and the sweet milk glaze along with the crunch of fruity pebbles was outstanding. The service was great, there were 2 girls working who were very sweet and respectful and an older lady with them. Although, I would give it 3 stars because the lady who was working with the girls was not really nice to them. I'm assuming she's the manager and I couldn't help but listen to their conversation because she was getting frustrated at one of the girls for a small fixable mistake. She raised her voice and had an attitude. It caught other customers attention and how I know is because I heard one of them whisper to their partner, "Why is she getting so mad at her." I couldn't help but ask the girl if she was okay because she looked so embarrassed and was about to cry. I told her, hey everyone makes mistakes and it's okay to do so. I felt so bad and wanted to speak to the lady about it because those girls do not deserve to get treated like that. They aren't perfect and neither are we, we make mistakes but that doesn't give you the right to treat them poorly just because they don't meet your satisfaction. If there is one word to describe the texture of the snow ice that you'll have at Powder, it is, in fact, powder-esque. Literally, once you put a scoop of this deliciously sweet powder in your mouth, the ice flakes instantly melt and sooth your tongue. The flavors then mesh and travel across your tongue and gives off the tingling sensation of how good this stuff is. I have had shaved ice that was not flakey at all. As a matter a fact, sometimes, I have had chunks of ice in the middle of my snow. I have to say my favorite is the green tea with the mochi and condensed milk, which is the classic. But Powder does change it up once in a while to keep up with the seasons. Sometimes they have pumpkin, strawberry, sesame and Vietnamese Coffee! Overall, there is not a long line, but for a small cup that amounts to $7 out the door, it can get a bit price for what really boils down to flavored water. Good flavored water! Powder is ok. Shaved ice/bingsoo which is different from ice cream. Remember these desserts are ice infused with flavor. With that, Powder is ok. We ordered 3 different ice and the only one with flavor was the black sesame. The Thai tea barely had flavor and as did the ube. If the ube shaved ice didn't have the shavings and red bean, it would have been a total bust. It wasn't crowded for 9:30pm on a Thursday night when we walked in. After placing our order the desserts came out quick! There is a small curbside area for seating but the evening was cold and sitting outside with the light fog/mist wasn't appealing so we ate in the car. read more
