There was a long line when my family and I came here. I learned about this place through TikTok. I guess they are very popular for their onigiris and their Japanese style cream sandwiches. For having such long line the employees were quick and swift. Although once you're in be forewarned that it does get hard to find seating. You may have to sit outside by this tree with a planter box which many use as a bench to sit and eat their foods. Inside there is a free water station. The Strawberry and Cream Sando was not bad, for a long time my family and I had anticipated trying this sandwich and then we finally got to try it here at Tadaima. My initial response was meh, I must say we didn't really what the hype was it is just a sweet fruit filled sandwich. The onigiri on the other hand were fun to eat a bit pricey, but I can see why they can price it at that price point because there isn't much of a competition there are only a few places where you can get onigiris. Such a cute Japanese café! Tadaima has a beautiful, minimalist interior with calming green tones and a cozy modern Japanese feel. We tried the Matcha with Strawberry Cream and Matcha with Pistachio Cream. Both were creamy, smooth, and really enjoyable. The strawberry cream adds a fruity sweetness that pairs surprisingly well with the earthy matcha, while the pistachio cream is richer and nuttier. Given their focus on sandos and onigiri, I thought it was pretty good. Understand I'm putty for konbini sandos, which are those delectable sandwiches sold in Japanese convenience store chains. Tadaima tries to take the concept to the next level. The results are a bit mixed. This new location is right off the N-MUNI line, so it's easy to get to, especially if you're en route to Golden Gate Park. It was fairly busy with most customers under 30. I'm sure I was skewing the median age by my presence. I wasn't hungry enough to order Chicken Karaage, so I went with the $14 Potato & Egg Salad Sando (Photo 8). Not what I was expecting with the filling dominated by the kewpie mayo. It wasn't my preference with the potatoes and soft-boiled eggs cut in big chunks and the Japanese milk bread sliced on the thick side. I prefer the Egg Salad Sando just a few blocks away at Sakura on Irving. However, I liked the $12 Strawberry & Cream Sando because the execution was more straightforward (Photo 9). Impromptu visit while in the area. Cute aesthetic. Short line of about 6 people that moved quickly. Friendly staff. We had such a lovely experience at Tadaima! Location: Inner Sunset. Parking is always tough here but if you're willing to walk a few blocks, there's street parking to be found. Better yet, take public transportation! The food: High quality, Japanese comfort food. The two of us shared an unagi onigiri and a fish katsu sando. Both were delish! I was especially impressed with the fish sando: the bread had the yummy chewy texture of proper milk bread, and the fish was fresh and freshly fried, nice & warm. Tadaima Inner Sunset has been very popular since their opening early 2026. During peak hours (weekends around noon), there's always a line out the door. The employees make the onigiri very quickly, and there's a front window you where you can see it. If you're getting a sando or a drink, wait might take a bit longer. Currently they're not accepting cash due to the recent break-ins. The chicken filet karage sando is pretty good. The white bread is so soft and fluffy, the chicken juicy and lightly breaded, and the shredded cabbage and house sauce provided plenty of moisture. All of their sandos are best eaten immediately so the bread doesn't get soggy. The onigiri (selection of eight, two of which are vegetarian) and spam & egg musubi are perfect for snacking on the go. The rice is seasoned well, but proportionally, there's a bit too much rice. 2-3 onigiri or musubi per person perfect amount of food. They range $3.50 to $8.50 each. I've tried their matcha latte with salted cheese cream, matcha latte with strawberry cream, and hojicha latte with salted cheese cream. All were delicious and refreshing. I recommend adding the salted cheese cream for extra flavor, sweetness, and light texture. Irving & 9th and the surrounding 2-3 block radius is always busy with bus/car/foot traffic. Best to park a little further away (if you're lucky) and walk. Golden Gate Park is half a block away, so Tadaima is perfect for lunch/snack in the park. read more

Finally tried the third Tadaima location, which ironically is the closest to me! My bestie and I came here to catch up over matcha and both got the pistachio matcha. I love pistachio flavored everything but hadn't tried the pistachio matcha at any of the locations yet. I found it to be perfectly balanced here, super creamy and nutty, but not too sweet. Think it's my fave so far out of the Tadaima lineup. The interior of this location felt the least chaotic out of the three - probably because it was a Monday - and we were able to find seating. The barista who helped us out was really nice and all around liked the vibe here. Trust when I say I was hungrily eyeing the variety of onigiris on display, but since we had a dinner resy right after, I saved my appetite, so I'll have to come back again to try those. read more

Despite the line, our drinks were ready pretty fast too. Longest wait was for the Peaches & Cream sando - maybe about 15 minutes. Based on recommendations, we ordered the Strawberry cream and Pistachio Cream matchas. The matcha flavor came through, as well as the pistachio and Strawberry - good. The shiso salmon onigiri was still warm when we picked it up. Kiddo enjoyed it. The snow crab one was also good - crab on top and in the middle with a slight citrus flavor. Stumbled upon this place during my most recent trip to sf! I went shortly after it opened and there was already a line forming. We tried the spam/egg musubi, shiso beef onigiri, and miso crab onigiri. All were great! My favorite was probably the beef onigiri, with the spam/egg second. My main critique of these was that the rice was a bit dry for what I prefer in onigiri. I also got a hot matcha latte which was very good. The matcha is nice and strong and I can tell how high of quality it is. The shop itself is very cute, with a small amount of indoor seating. I like that you can watch the staff preparing fresh onigiri, and love that they're wrapped to be easily eaten on the go too! Anyways, when we saw the menu on the door, it seemed like they don't sell many drinks that isn't some type of matcha. I'm not a huge fan of matcha drinks, so I only got the onigiris, but they do sell sandwiches here too! We got the Miso Snow Crab and Tuna Salad onigiris. Both of them were good, but I felt like the Miso Snow Crab onigiri could've had more crab or something to add more flavor to it. The Tuna Salad was good too and we thought it was cool how there's corn on this onigiri since it helped add more flavor. I'd recommend this place if you're craving some onigiris! Tadaima definitely lives up to the hype! I remember seeing it being popular since a few years ago and I always wanted to try but never got the chance. Coincidentally there was one near Golden Gate park and we were able to make it just on time before closing. The service is very fast, you order at the cashier and they bring out the sandos very fast. I got the tonkatsu with pineapple which was the best sando I've ever had! It is in the pricier side but it was worth every bite. Everything in the sando was made fresh, so the crunch of the tonkatsu really pulls everything together. And the combination with the fresh pineapple made it juicier! As for the matcha latte, you can definitely taste the quality of the matcha they use. It was creamy and strong enough for my liking! I would honestly give them a 3.5 and I didn't feel comfortable giving them a 3 so I increased it to a 4. I wanted to like Tadaima as much as other people like or love it, but it was something that I tried once and will probably not go back to just because I know other places with better tasting matcha and Japanese sandwiches. This place is packed and for good reason! A line out the door indicated that this was a good place to try. You line up and are presented with 8 different types of onigiri. We got the salmon, crab, spam musubi, and the curry. All were great and what you would expect. The crab was nice and creamy and the curry was nicely done. The rice itself was fluffy, sticky, and uncrushed. We also got the pineapple tonkatsu sando which had red cabbage, pineapple, tonkatsu, and they called it pineapple sauce but kinda like sweet and sour and ketchup. Overall great because the pork was not dry and each element brought acid and crunch to the soft pillowy bread. The mixed fruit sando was good because it had fruit all the way to the back of it. Most places only put fruit for the presentation side. The cream was thick and sweet which played nicely with the sweet milk bread. The drink is a solid 8.9/10 (regular sweet with almond milk) with great blend of nuttiness and sweetness, just wish the matcha was a tad bit stronger. I've tried their shiso unagi, shiso beef, shiso salmon, miso snow crab, and mushroom and pickled daison. Shiso salmon was my favorite given great portion of fish and roe, great pickling on the inside, and the shiso giving a fresh element. Shiso unagi is my second favorite, but wishing eel flavor is more. Beef and snow crab were pretty good! Another matcha spot that came back from resilience, Tadaima in Inner Sunset. Like the one in Mission District and Cow Hollow, same matcha drinks, same neatly prepped onigiris, and same sando variations. There's even a 50g matcha green tea powder pouches waiting for anyone to have. And of course, I never grew tired of its café space and vibe. The iced Straight Matcha with sugar never fails to please me even when it's never on their menu option. As for the mixed fruit sando, I received an assessment from my brother after he tried the whole thing. He claimed that the milk bread from Tokyo Central in Emeryville tasted way better than the milk bread of Tadaima. Of course, everyone has different views when it comes to their taste buds. All in all, I be more than welcome to come back once more to order a sando straight from the specials. read more

I've wanted to try this place for sooo long. Found a parking lot nearby and it was a 5 min walk. I came here before it opened and there was only a small line. Onigiri is also freshly made. It's actually pretty spacious inside with seating. Service was good and quick. Iced Matcha Latte: thin drink but still a really strong matcha taste. Got their default sweetness with less ice and it was a perfect sweet. I prefer bittersweet matchas and this was perfect. read more

Came here on a Sunday & there was a short line outside. It was well worth it! We ordered an iced matcha with strawberry & an iced matcha with salted cream. We also ended up trying a tuna onigiri & a yuzu salmon onigiri (which they were running low on, and making fresh). The matcha drinks were only $7.50 and $7.75, which seemed pretty reasonable because the matcha was fantastic. There was some seating inside & the place overall has good vibes. Solid matcha latte for $6.75, but with whole milk. It has notes of umami and not bitter. There is an additional charge for milk alternatives. I also tried some rice balls, great snack for the airplane too. The miso crab tastes more like yuzu. The yuzu salmon tasted good and bright. However, unagi shiso is my favorite, because all the filling is balanced quantity wise. The herb leaves a refreshing after taste. The yuzu salmon and miso crab had more rice than filling. It was quick service and everyone was friendly. The store front has great interior space with seats. There was a small line on Monday morning inside the store. read more

The chicken karaage sandwich was my favorite! I would definitely come back for this. It was very lightly fried and the milk bread they use was so light and fluffy. I tasted 1/4 of the fish sandwich which was my second favorite. The tonkatsu pork with pineapple I would probably skip next time. The pork was a little on the dry side. Though, the pineapple was sweet. I took some onigiri out to try later, but haven't tasted them yet. The ordering system was quick and we waited maybe 10-15 minutes for the sandwiches to be made fresh. They have some small tables to sit and eat at and there is a clean and beautiful bathroom. The green color interior of the restaurant is very soothing. I would say this place is a little better than Yutori in Palo Alto in terms of their sandwiches. read more
