Mostly excellent food and one of the best margaritas I've had in particular the pomegranate margarita with a blend of salted and sugar rim. This is one of those restaurants worth going to in PA although it is on the pricier side but you certainly get what you pay for and it's a pretty unique location being a former power station it also helps it's one of the few restraints in the area since there's really no competition nearby to compare this place too. I had the lobster Mac and cheese to start which was good with a solid amount of lobster in there, I then got a lobster roll (yes I was in a lobster mood that day) and I appreciated the amount of meat and overall good flavor although I wish it was a bit larger and with more seasoning it was good but could have been cheaper for what it was. For dessert I had the peanut butter pie which was great just the right size and a smooth creamy taste with a chocolate drizzle on top. Overall if you're interested in an overall solid PA restaurant which is rare give this place a try. read more

"Please bring our party of four an assortment of room-temperature food with a side of managerial hostility and don't skimp on the disappointment!" I will explain. Sunday night of Labor Day weekend, reservation for four for 7:15. We arrived on time and were greeted by very pleasant front of house. In the narrative that follows, we have nothing but praise for our waitperson TONI, who went above and beyond in adverse circumstances. We ordered appetizers and drinks (my lemonade arrived in its plastic bottle, a classy touch I wish more restaurants would adopt). Bread arrived, then after an interval, two salads. The women of the party looked at the empty space where there might, in an expert restaurant, have been food. An interval passed, and our truly apologetic waitperson arrived to explain that the kitchen was a man down, there were large parties, and things were backed up. We accepted her explanation politely and waited. I did tell her that my wife was hungry and unhappy, and asked if she could liberate a baked potato, which she did. At 8:10 our entrees had not arrived and we called her over to say that we were distressed, and that we couldn't pack up and go to another restaurant. She looked genuinely unhappy (on our side, not the restaurant's) and checked with the kitchen to tell us that our orders were the very next. A few minutes later, a man I presume was the manager arrived, in a white polo shirt decorated with what looked like Rorschach tests. If we expected him to be nice, to apologize to us, we were dismayed by the tenor of his response: somewhere in that middle ground between menace and suppressed anger. HE had heard that there were unhappy diners, and he wanted to know why. The unspoken assertion was that there was something wrong with us, and he actually said that he didn't think waiting an hour for a meal in a restaurant like this was anything out of the ordinary. Had this been someplace more urban, I would have asked for the check and left. But the options available us were few if any, so we waited. Our sullen manager in the ink-blot shirt comped the one member of our party a glass of house Cabernet, almost forcing it on him. Eventually the entrees arrived: the women of the party said there's were OK, unexceptional. My friend's duck was overcooked, his side dishes overseasoned. My beautiful steak (requested rare) was overdone and everything on the plate was tepid. Toni, our waitperson, was genuine in her apologies. We never saw the manager again. It was, in its own way, quite a relief. He might write to respond to this to say how unreasonable some diners are, but if you check my other Yelp reviews, you will see I rarely write to complain. It would have been annoying to wait for food, to find the results poorly done. But add in the spice of condescension and anger --- imagine our feelings. If you read this, I suppose there's no way to circumvent such an experience. Perhaps being one short in the kitchen is rare. But the manager's behavior was, to us, inexcusable. I am sure there are other restaurants in this area. Eater beware. read more

So there were 6 of us...we had reservations for a Friday night 6:45. Sat right down, no trouble. Ordered up a few drinks. Again, no trouble. We decided to not order appetizers and go right to the entrees. The waitress was attentive and helpful. So here's when things went south. We waited over an hour after ordering to get our food. Other tables who came in after us were served their food and finished their meals before we got our food. And then when we got our food, it was clear the pasta sides were sitting under heat lamps for a while. The skirt steak was cold. We sent it back to at least heat it up. It was fine after that. Veal saltimbocca was overcooked and chewy. The lobster roll was overcooked as well. We let the waitress know what was going on, and she was all apologies and told us that the kitchen is busy tonight. She came back and told us the management will discount us. So for a $275 bill they took a total of $20 off the entire bill. Unacceptable! We will not be back. A shame, too. Stopped here for some dinner after hiking and checking out the Jim Thorpe area . Recommended by a buddy who use to live in this area. We started off with the calamari, it had a bit of a different take Granny Smith apples with an Asian type sauce. It wasn't my favorite but it was decent . I like calamari steak cuts as they usually are more tender than the rings. The complimentary bread was good served along with a honey fig butter. My husband ordered the petit filet and added on a crab cake. The crab cake had a ton of meat in it which was awesome and flavor was great this was served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. He was very happy. I ordered the chicken Marsala upgraded to the Brussels sprouts with bacon , Angel hair and added sun dried tomatoes. The flavor was fantastic. If I could have ordered two meal I would have gotten the swordfish special as all the tables around were raving about the flavor . Patti our server was great, she was busy with a large group but made sure we had everything we needed . Ask for her when you go . Very sweet gal and great at what she does . I have been wanting to stop here for years and finally it happened. A very unique place. Easy to find if you are on I-80 in the eastern portion of PA. You need to read the history and you'll appreciate the restoration. We were there as the pandemic was staring to slow down and the US was returning to a "New Normal". It appears throughout the US that the workers are still very few and far between. Staffing for so many businesses have been affected and the restaurant industry is a prime example of hard to fill position openings. The Powerhouse has a sophisticated menu. Unique flavors and combinations unexpected based on their location. They have two giant rooms. The front side of the restaurant has seating and a huge bar. My husband and I decided to take advantage of a kid free night at Powerhouse! I had heard of it from a friend who was a local. We started with drinks and calamari. It was perfection! I had the Japanese flank steak and my husband tried something from the summer menu, lobster something that was amazing. Absolutely amazing experience at Powerhouse! We got to town on Tuesday after traveling all day and saw that this was one of the top rated in the area. We were staying in Lake Harmony so it was a 20 minute drive but well worth it. The first night Aiden (i think) took care of us at the bar and everything we got was incredible! We tried the risotto, French dip, and some of their signature cocktails. All of their juices are made fresh in house!! After a long day of snowboarding the next day we decided to go back since it was on our way home and we're taken care of by Angela who also happens to be the GM. She was AMAZING! Literally everyone on the staff is so kind and cool. Finally our last night in town was our anniversary and we decided to go back one last time. This time Zoe took care of us and left us on an incredible note. From the drinks to the food and the whole experience she gave to us i cannot recommend this place more. We had a party of 12. Arrived at 6:00 pm for our reservation and were seated. The waiter was great! We ordered by 6:15 but didn't get our food until 8:05. I ordered a New York Strip with Gorgonzola crust. My steak came without the crust and was nearly raw which was far from the medium well that I ordered. Other steaks at the table were undercooked and were sent back for refiring. Seafood Diavola wasn't spicy and had a bland marinara sauce added. Unappetizing and cold sides for all as well. This is the last time that I will dine here. I've been coming for 25 years. I will be sure to let everyone I know not to waste time or money on a dying restaurant. read more

My family was visiting from out of state and after a six hour drive, we began looking up reviews for local restaurants because we were famished. Powerhouse had strong reviews so we gave it a shot. Long story short, we ordered two diet cokes and they were completely flat and undrinkable. We ordered a salad, burger, chicken dish, and kids pasta and meatball. We then proceeded to sit there for 50 minutes without food while others who were seated after us were served both their appetizers and main courses. Our server never addressed or apologized for the long wait nor were we provided an explanation as to what was taking so long. Just as we were about to notify that we would be departing to go to a drive thru instead, our food arrived. The food quality was subpar. Wedge salad barely had any toppings, chicken dish appeared to be three chicken fingers covered in sauce, and the hamburger was way too heavily salted. My daughter said her meatball was just okay. The venue was not overly crowded so we are still unsure why just our table's food took so long to arrive compared to all the other surrounding tables and why we were never given an apology for that fact. We vacation in this area each summer and definitely would never visit this restaurant again. read more

The apps were good but came out sporadically. Dinner was not good. 4 orders had issues. The Prime Rib dinner was awful. Overdone and overpriced. A small slice of fatty prime rib with horrific brown gravy. The filet came out with the wrong sides. The chicken piccata had no pasta and arrived much later when we were done eating. It was so good, had dinner 2 days in a row during a long weekend stay there. The menu selection was very interesting and ordered duck breast, pork loin with crabmeat (signature dish), pear/brie crostini, French onion soup, OG burger, calamari, and crabcakes. All delicious even the bread basket with their homemade bread and flavored butter. We're sad the restaurant is not near us back home. I am astonished by how much our experience differed from so many of the reviews here. We drove 45 minutes out of the way while on vacation to dine here. We first ordered a watermelon mojito, which was undrinkable and tasted like spoiled watermelon juice. We watched as every table around us got bread aside from us. When the bus boy came we flagged that and asked if we could also have bread. He said yes and never returned. We split the lobster bisque, which in my opinion was inedible. It was overly salty and tasted off. My husband ate some of it and said it was bad but tolerable if hungry. I had a lobster roll and fries, he had the crab au gratin. Both were mediocre at best and tasted low quality. I cannot believe we spent more than $100 on a special occasion dinner that was so disappointing. The best part of the night was leaving. read more

I've been living in NYC for about 9 years and recently moved to NEPA. I was excited to find a restaurant that's NYC quality - price range is the only thing that matches with fine dining in NYC. My main dish, fish was frozen. Very disappointing. Worst of all- we were the last table the day we dined. And the restaurant was dead. I forgot to pick up my belt from the chair when i was leaving - (had to take off because got tight after eating bunch of bread) well assumed they would put it in a lost and found or something. I call next day- they say they never seen the belt. Well I'm damn sad to lose my favorite belt for an overpriced frozen fish. I do not recommend Ps: service was good thats why two stars read more

This was my first time here and I will definitely be returning with more friends and family in the future! I ordered for an appetizer the fried calamari with the black garlic aioli and it was really good. It comes with tiny sprinkles of fried prosciutto which at first I wasn't sure about but when the dish was served you can see how all the flavors really complimented each other. For the main course I had the shrimp and scallops pappadelle and my friend had a fettuccine dish with pesto and chicken. Both dishes were excellent! I ordered a jack n coke and they made my drink perfectly. I would definitely come back to this place in the future! It's a great place for a birthday, special occasion, as well as just a night out with friends and family. I was looking for fine dining in the Wilkes Barre, PA area and found this place 20 minutes south of there. The history of this place as well as the variety of dishes is most interesting. I tried the Burrata Salad and the Duck Confit with Street Corn Ravioli and Tequila Cream Sauce and both were excellent! The bartender Angela was very friendly and professional. The service is decent and food is good, but it takes an hour to get from the time you order, so expect to spend 2 hours here. Drinks are average, not exceptionally strong. I can only recommend the burger because it is the ONLY reasonably priced item at $16 but it does come with fries. Everything else is about 25-35% overpriced, the only reason they get away with charging these amounts is because they have a monopoly on "upper scale" restaurants in the area. read more

The restaurant's name is a little misleading for those who haven't dined here before. It's not a post workout nutrition cafe. It's a restaurant in a building that was previously used as a power plant. We started with ricotta dumplings served with lamb. It was one of their daily specials and was very good. It had a very generous portion of meat for a appetizer. We also shared the daily special salad which had pistachios and prosciutto. Those two items go great with everything! For my main course, I ordered a cheese burger. All quality ingredients which came together well. My fathered ordered the prime rib which was outstanding. I'd highly recommend his dish. They have a nice selection of drinks. For beer, the have some competitively priced macros as well as some good craft and local offerings. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is really pretty, unique, nicely decorated. Very quiet even though it is a large space. Great for a date night. We had John's meatballs and beet carpaccio for appetizer. The meatballs were luke warm at best. The beet carpaccio, the beets were almost impossible to find. They were buried under the greens and there were only 3 very thin slices. I expected more beet, thin yes, just more quantity. For dinner we had crab and shrimp cajun fettuccine and shrimp francaise. It took a very long time to get dinner, it wasn't that crowded to take that long. I don't mind waiting if it is worth it, not sure this was. I asked for extra francaise sauce on my capellini, not only did I not get extra, I barely got any, even on the shrimp. Again, waiting that long, the food was barely temperate. For dessert we had coffee and creme brulee, that was delicious. I was expecting more, I was expecting better. I'll give it a try again because maybe it was just an off night, it happens. But I'm going to go in hesitant because of this experience. read more

The Hostess is always very nice and makes us feel right at home. The wait staff has been excellent. Keep in mind that we eat early four or five in the afternoon.
