The decor is bare bones utilitarian. The food? Anything but. A piping hot bowl of green curry infused coconut accompanied by sizeable mound of fragrant Jasmine rice. Basil, string beans, red bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, and purple eggplant are accompanied by plump sweet, white shrimp. This gave me a slight runny nose. A sure sign of good heat! Does well as delivery. Garlic noodles with extra chicken was tasty, not overwhelming or overly greasy. The extra chicken portion was generous. Egg rolls were crisp snd flavorful. Thai iced tea with oat milk hit the spot, is not overly sweet, and I really appreciate that PraJam has 3 milk options to choose from (Half & Half, Oat, and Coconut). The weakest link was the mango & sticky rice: tasty, good and generous mango, but the rice was not as sticky as I like it. Rice also could have used more sesame seed topping, but it was still yummy. Prices were sometimes a little high (nearly $11 for mango&sticky rice), but not terribly so. Glad this place has opened in my neighborhood. read more

My test of a good Thai restaurant is a bowl of Pumpkin Curry soup & their Mango Sticky Rice. Prajam did not disappoint. Delicious Pumpkin Curry with just the right amount of "kick" & the Mango Sticky Rice was perfectly sweetened & the Mango perfectly ripened (I hate it when I get a hard Mango with the dish!). Had the best time at PraJam! I had the best massamam curry I've ever tasted in the Bay Area, and shared a tom kha and spicy lemon grass with my boyfriend. The staff are friendly and fun. We had the combo lunch which includes an appetizer (2-fried chicken wings, 2-fried egg rolls), entree (garlic noodles & pad Thai) and a beverage (sprite and coke). The food was delicious with good size portions of the entrees and tasty appetizers. The server was friendly, attentive and efficient. My usual protein choice is shrimp, and unlike a lot of other Thai places they give you your moneys worth for that extra charge. A twenty percent off grand opening special did not hurt either and allowed for a bit extra gratuity. Great! It is an excellent addition to the neighborhood, and street parking, just,off the San Pablo exit and on the way home. Love. I found the "medium spicy" eye-wateringly spicy but utterly delicious on all counts. Next time: I'm ordering everything "mild, kindly. With half the fresh jalapeño, please." Plus: it's the shortest of strolls up San Pablo to the Factory Bar, where you can get a fresh poured local beer to wash down that fiery delight and sit outside in the magnificent hidden garden. #thefactorybar. Like most Thai restaurants, Pra Jam is clean & neat, with staff that are polite & friendly. It's a casual place with ordering at the counter. For some reason, that struck me as going well with the Fusion slant on the cuisine. And it's popular already-- lots of to go orders were picked up while I was there. Be aware that you may have to park on the street as the restaurant is literally sandwiched between the smog place & another car kind of place. Parking in the lot is at a premium. I really liked the Sesame Noodles & I will gladly get them again. They even left the peanuts off when my partner asked if the dish had a lot of peanuts on it. We also got veggie egg rolls & chicken gyoza, which were good & also a good move since I was getting scarily hangry. For the Bay Area, the $15ish you'll pay for an entrée is totally reasonable. Food..... they do not have fresh spring rolls on the menu...only fried egg rolls. Unfortunately, the egg rolls were undercooked. They were not crispy brown on the outside and the wrapping was doughy and undercooked on the inside. The sesame noodles with tofu were bland and I could not taste any sesame. There just seemed to be no real flavor to them. The tofu was interesting as it was fried and sort of like a puff ball. I was expecting fresh tofu and did not care f or the tofu cooked in this way. Perhaps I did not read the description in the menu? This place is local for me and I was really hopeful based on the great reviews that it would be a new favorite place. I will probably go back and give them another chance. Until then, I would not recommend this place. read more

Holy Potatoes was I surprised at how fresh and tasty the dish was. Truly did not expect it to be this good. The staff was charming and attentive. Portions fair sized. My hubby got the eggplant stir fry. Packed with flavor, but kind of thick and a bit overly saucy. I got green curry with pork. Good sized portion. I asked for medium spice and it was more like mild to me. Curry was also a bit thinner. Mango sticky rice - mango was sweet and ripe. The sticky rice was a bit too sweet and a bit too runny for me. My husband and I have gotten take out multiple times now and every time food has been ready within 15 minutes. Their portions are big, the food delicious, and I prefer their Thai ice tea to everywhere else (tastes less plain sugar-y and more flavorful). Protein wise, the shrimp we've gotten so far have been quite big and plump, and the chicken is not dry at all. Nothing is overly salty, so we really like it! Mistake. We decided to try this place because we were hungry and didn't want to wait until after 5pm for our trusted Thai place to open. We ordered: crab rangoon - terrible. The wrap seemed to be actual bread dough? It was thick and hard to bite through. The filling was average. Not yummy. Panang curry - terrible. The curry didn't taste like anything but had a layer of oil on top. It was filled with way too much of tofu and vegetables. The fried tofu was just gross. It was doughy, soggy weird and Large chunks. The vegetables were old and overcooked. Pad Thai - terrible. It was an over cooked clump of ketchupy rice noodles. We had opted for the fried tofu on this too. Dang. Another terrible mistake. As I explained before the way they've treated their fried tofu is unlike anything I've ever seen. I really don't think they know what they're doing? They were terrible and we got this in two of our dishes. Shrimp fried rice - meh. This was the only dish that had any kind of character to it. At least it had a little bit of flavor. But once again, overcooked and mushy. I will never return here. That was a lesson to just wait it out and go to your favorite Thai restaurant. People don't waste your money. I'm not being mean this is real. I'm just being serious. I'm embarrassed for them. This type of food should never have left a restaurant that has any respect for what they're putting out. Unassuming exterior between a smog place and auto repair store, but lovely interior that I see becoming a popular restaurant destination for this part of San Pablo Ave with its various new dining options. Limited parking off the street. Clean interior with modern dinning tables and chairs for 2 groups of six or 4 groups of four. The music playing over the sound of the overhead fans was one of a jazz tone. The cashier greeted us with menus at the counter. We grabbed a few menus for our table and looked it over. Once decided, we order at the counter, pay (cash and credit cards) and just wait for the food to be served. We have young kids with decreased tolerance for spice so we had to decide which would be best for them. We decided on the pumpkin curry with beef, spicy curry noodle with chicken, and BBQ pork for our group. Food was served quickly with cute little plastic cups of water to avoid water waste. The dishes were nicely presented in bowls and plates. Since they knew our kids would be sharing, they brought out extra bowls and plates without us having to ask which was helpful. Pumpkin curry had a nice flavor to it however more on the mild spice side vs the spicy curry noodle that had kick to it even though both has the chili pepper symbol. The bbq pork was plentiful and tasty, just wished it had sliced tomatoes or cucumbers to accompany it along with the raw cabbage. I hope as they get used to serving times etc that they consider other unique entrees for their menu aside or specials of the day from the standard items that can be found at typical Americanized Thai restaurants. read more
