Since it was my first time inside Pranzo Pizza & Pasta It took me a few minutes to know what I wanted to get for dinner. Pranzo Pizza & Pasta offers a wide range of options from their menu such pasta, sub sandwiches, pizza by the slice, and much more! After reviewing their menu, I had decided to order the following 1 Slice of their Cheese NY Style pizza Chicken Parmesan sandwich The meal wasn't too expensive, less than $20.00 for both items. Their restaurant has plenty of table seating available if you wanted to eat inside. I instead decided to take my order to-go, back to the hotel. The food was pre-cooked at the restaurant and the team bagged each item separately. The pizza slice was delicious! It had a ton of cheese and the sauce was quite flavorful. The dough was cooked perfectly and the bottom of the slice wasn't burnt. The Chicken Parmesan sandwich was good. It would have been better though at the restaurant as the cheese had cooled a little bit on the walk back to the hotel. The bread used for the sub was really good! The inside was soft, and the outside had a slight crunch to it. The chicken was tender and scrumptious! The food is delicious at Pranzo Pizza & Pasta. Next time, I'll have to try their calzones! I went with a chicken roll after being super indecisive, only to hear most people ordering the meatball hero. Ill have to come back and try that one or any of the parm hero's which seem to be the most popular items here. My roll was a little over cooked i wasn't too happy with the chicken and the oven heated it up way too slow, it seems like just the outside was warmed up. Kind of odd. If you're on one of those "quest for the best pizzas in NYC", this probably shouldn't be on your list. Nice, cozy setting? Check. Moderate price? Check. Quality food it ain't. You can say I was excited about going here after reading all the good reviews and praise and it was right across from where I worked--super plus! I thought this was going to be a quick but nice, family-setting Italian restaurant that serves hearty food. So maybe it did feel nice in there but one bite can ruin the whole experience. I didn't want to risk my chances so I got a mushroom slice - a small slice for $4. Glad I didn't get anything savory because it is on par with dollar slices, or maybe slightly worse. The width of the slice is very thin and its not very big in length as well. I love extra cheese but it seriously looked like they topped extra mozzarella cheese over what looked like goat cheese. The cheese underneath was so dried up and clunky, like it was made days ago. So disappointing. The bottom was also burnt - so not my day for pizza. Can't say the same for the other pizzas, though they do have deep dish pizza! read more

The lasagna tasted funny because it had fatty hamburger meat in it. Very fat meat I must say, although the sauce was good. It was cold cause they didn't bother to reheat for me. As a result, I wouldn't recommend their pasta or hot food. It wasn't a pleasant experience for me. Try the pies, as their pizza was decent, and is what I'll get (if I'd go again). No frills quick Italian food served cafeteria style. Line up along the left hand-side and move down the assembly line, order your meal, drinks, and pay. There is plenty of seating with people constantly getting up and sitting down. I came on a Friday and ordered the Shrimp Parmigiana ($7.50 + tax = $8.15). On the bottom was a generous portion of al dente spaghetti with a heaping spoonful of sweet tomato sauce. I enjoyed their tasty spaghetti, a notch up to so many Italian restaurants who serve you a small dish of spaghetti with bland tomato sauce. On top of the spaghetti were 7 thinly breaded/crusted medium-sized shrimp, held together with the melted mozzarella cheese. The breading mixed with diced onions, had some great flavor though erring to the slightly salty side. However the saltiness of the breading was easily counterbalanced with the sweet spaghetti sauce. The shrimp were fresh and cooked perfectly with a nice firm crunch to them. Served on the side was a piece of bread, which was surprisingly good. I don't know if it was just me but I found hints of butter and saltiness to it. Pranzo's is a great place for quick Italian food under $10. Portions are sizable. The only downside was that the dish was oily as heck with a 1/8" pool of oil sitting at the bottom of my dish. read more

Luckily I've had good pizza elsewhere so I'm not ripping NYC's pizza rep and street cred to shreds with all of my friends back in Cali. ;) However, if I were a tourist, didn't know any better, had made the mistake of choosing this place to eat after reading the reviews here, and thought that this was what NY pizza is supposed to be about, well I'm sorry but NYC's great pizza rep would be DONE with a capital D. Four stars? Are the owner's friends and relatives writing the reviews I read? I've seriously had better pizzas from the cafeteria when I was in high school. This pizza was greasy to the point where the toppings slid completely off of three of the slices. All that was left was soggy dough and a little bit of Pranzo's watered down sorry excuse for a pizza sauce and way too much fennel. I'm starting to think that nobody in the Financial District has tastebuds. I'm losing my faith in Yelp for this area. What's the deal? 100% of ALL of the restaurants I have tried in this area suck with the exception of Sho Shaun Hergatt but I can't afford to eat there on a daily basis. And it's not like I'm some hardcore foodie but I can differentiate between mediocre and somewhat decent and nothing has even come close. Pranzo is a dependeble pie. Nice & thin with crunchy crust...the thin crust style that is. The pan pizza is a little doughy for my taste but people seem to like it. And the pastas get solid reviews and are consistently good with a nice variety...especially for the price. Overall, don't expect anything too special, just a nice inexpensive little meal to go. My personal favorite is two thin slices with one topping and a soda for about $7...you can't go wrong with that. "Crunch" This makes me think if I ever want to have pizza in California again. This was the first place I ate at for the first time in NYC and from the first bite I fell in love. Not sure how this place only has 5 reviews, but this is the right place to be. Best Pizza I ever had. And when I get back home, I'm forced to eat Costco pizza by my cousins. And this made me wonder if there was a Costco in New York, and if there was... Would the pizza be close to Pranzo's. But if any of you Cali folks are out in NYC, I really suggest Pranzo's, you will not be let down... They do something different on Saturdays and Sundays as told by the owner.
