I love Prasino! As many times as I've been there, I never had an issue. Very professional staff and good food. I've taking many people to Prasino and they all say the same. My favorite is the Citrus Salmon salad! It's literally perfect. The fish tacos, the salmon zucchini lunch, and the ahi poke are other great options as well. I've had the braised short ribs, I wasn't a fan of the cauliflower gratin but the short ribs were good. I'd highly recommend Prasino for a nice lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I've been to a different Prasino location a few years ago, but this is the first time I've been to the LaGrange location. It's a pretty big restaurant with outdoor seating available. If you decide to sit outside during the summer, be prepared to dine with flies. We had a couple of pesky ones join us. For a Wednesday evening at around 6:00pm, there were barely any customers. No need for reservations for two people if you plan to visit Monday - Thursday around that time. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup, shrimp tacos, and chocolate mousse dessert. The chicken tortilla soup was definitely different than the ones I've had in the past at other restaurants, but it was good. The shrimp tacos were tiny, which is why they give you four of them. Also, there are no sides with the tacos. My hand was bigger than one taco! I enjoyed the flavors of the taco but just wish there was a bigger portion. The chocolate mousse was delicious and had a hint of raspberry flavor. The mousse was light and airy. The service was excellent. Our server was extremely attentive and nice. We received our food promptly, and she checked on us a couple of times to make sure everything was okay. read more

My mom and I went here for breakfast on a Thursday. It was not crowded at all. We were seated straight away and the service and was fast and attentive. The food was very good! I got the blueberry breakfast quinoa and my mom got the Greek yogurt with fruit. The portions were good, we had leftovers so they were both good the next day as well! There was an option to get dairy free creamer for your coffee which was very appreciated. The price for the coffee and dairy free creamer was kinda shocking though. Saw on website they were open until 10 PM. Dying for food we called at 9:30. No one answered the phone. We were close so we decided to drive there and order carry out. Got to the restaurant at 9:45 and a waitress said they weren't open. We tried the door and it was locked. I told the waitress I thought they were open until 10. Rather than showing any empathy or understanding she haughtily said: "I just told you we were closed and so we're closed. " Rest assured I'll never frequent them again. ****WARNING***LONG POST* **** Nice upscale appearance inside and out, nice spacious waiting area (very trendy). But for a Sunday morning, my boyfriend and I understood that there was going to be some sort of wait time for seating which we were okay with. We waited 15 mins to be seated, we were handed menus, we looked over the menus and waited about 10 mins to be waited on. We ordered our food and drinks and were served our drinks fairly quickly. I glanced down at my watch to time how long our food took to be given to us which was 30 mins. I was already annoyed that it took that long to be waited on and then not to have water refilled frequently on a very hot day on the patio was just the cherry on top. When we finally got our food I was given the wrong toast but I overlooked it because it already took 30 mins to get to me. I ordered a steak skillet which I must say for the price and quantity was not the best quality and had no flavor. I was very dissatisfied and didn't even finish my food. My boyfriend ordered the city farm omelette which was very tasty and he had a side of bacon which was great too. When we were given our food that is when we got a refill on water which I downed rather quickly. When I asked for a box for my food that is when my waitress asked if I wanted more coffee. I said yes and she poured me a half a cup and then she said let me see if there is any in this other one. That coffee was old and I, again, didn't finish it. We spent $46 excluding tip, for food that just didn't meet the expectation and we had an underwhelming experience. But we are willing to try it again hoping for a better time. read more

Loveeeee the food here! I've been a couple times and they never disappoint. My favorite and go-to is a small orange juice and the banana foster crepe! First off, the orange juice and fresh squeezed and tastes so refreshing and sweet! The crepe is exactly what you expect and more. It is just perfectly sweet without being too much! Delicious! Also, another random fact, their cream of chicken wild rice soup (I think that is what it is called) is beyond amazing! My family and I love this restaurant and have been frequent customers since it opened. It has delicious healthy options (and not so healthy, but sooo yummy options). Their smoothies are always fresh and delicious, and their food options are always hard to choose from since all are delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in town! First time here surprisingly after all these years it's been open. We came close to close on a Saturday night, I wish it was open a little later then 10pm. I had one of the mules which was made very strong and was perfect for what I was looking for. L We started of with grilled octopus as well as prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Both were flavored very well but the octopus could have been cooked longer. I prefer it slightly charted. For entree I had the braised beef short ribs which were slow cooked in a cauliflower gratin, Swiss chard, and truffle mushroom Cabernet sauce and was tasty. 5 star worthy, but just didn't quite make the grade with one hot mimosa and a too cool burger. Upon my first visit, I was fully prepared to give Prasino 5 stars but since then, I've cooled down (and so did the food) and settled on the cuatro for Prasino. The restaurant itself of amazing. Well lit, gorgeous deco, HUGE space, and a great green menu... though it had veal on it and I'm really not sure how green veal can be. Cruel, yes. Green, me thinks not. I liked that they had menu items for vegans, vegetarians, and meaties sooo everyone in our group had something. I had looked over their menu online and was so.very.excited about the fresh basil mimosa... until it came to the table, that is. It was warm, like really really warm- more warm than room temperature even, which is weird because it's jammed to the brim with ice. I wanted it to still be delicious but the bottom line was that it was't. In fact, none of our cocktails were as delicious as they'd sounded on the menu. On my second visit I got a vegan berry smoothie that was very good and a decent size and my BF got the spicy tomato juice blend which the loved. If I'm back, I'll defo stick with either a beer or a non-alcoholic drinkie. Lesson learned. On both trips to Prasino I got the risotto cakes. Upon first visit they were piping hot and amazing. We literally scraped the food off the plate. The second visit was a little underwhelming. The risotto cakes weren't very warm at all and didn't taste nearly as good.So far, for dinner/lunch I've had the black bean burger twice- the first time was good, the second time it was meh. It was falling apart all over and again, not very warm. I've also had the veggie flatbread, which I thought was just okay, the greco flatbread (without chicken) which was yummy but AGAIN lacking in warmth (urg!), and the butternut squash ravioli, which in my opinion, out of this world, fantastic and surprisingly light, and I'm not generally a pasta eater. Now on to my one true love, dessert. Get the chocolate lava cake! It's small but for only $5 this affords you the power to order a couple of desserts to share and split, or hoard to yourself (my method). Lava cake was the star in my eyes but the table was split, some liked the banana dessert with yummy ice cream best. I'll translate this into meaning that all the desserts are good and you can't really go wrong. I think I'll likely be back again sometime. I hope they can get their food temperature issues worked out though. read more

I just have to confess my ongoing love for Prasino and update my review. I've tried so many more meals, foods and seasonal specialties here since the first time I wrote a review that I feel the need to heap even more love on them. I've eaten outside on their fabulous patio. I have had Mother's day here with my family for two years in a row. I have had breakfast here, lunch here and dinner here. And lately, if my husband picks me up at O'Hare we now come here before heading home. Let me tell you, their food never disappoints. Sure they are sometimes out of some things and yes, they dropped Cinnamon Cream Lattes from their menu but meal after meal have been inventive and delicious. My current obsession is the beet salad and the lamb sandwich. Fresh and yummy. Now if they would just stock that cinnamon cream syrup again, I would try to make them a 5 plus! read more

Wow! What a great new addition to the La Grange dining scene! Prasino is a Greek word meaning "green" and green this restaurant is. From the seasonal, local and organic food to the environmentally friendly surrounds, Prasino delivers. We went for dinner on a snowy night but they are also open for breakfast and lunch. There were only a handful of people in the place due to the weather. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming-and uses re purposed or sustainable materials for the decor. From the bamboo wood chairs- to the cool cardboard and recycled wine bottle light shades, to the table tops from a a demolished building and wood flooring from a barn - Prasino's has made the effort to demonstrate that things can be re purposed. They have a full bar- or you can order one of their organic beers, teas or specialty drinks. We split a couple of appetizers- the tuna tartar and the flatbread. The Tuna tartar was a huge portion of three stacks of tuna set atop avocado and served with a sesame cracker. Delicious! The flatbread had feta cheese, grilled chicken and artichokes on it and was also very tasty. For our entrees- I went with our server's recommendation of the short ribs and my friend had the Asian salad. The server was right. The short ribs came served over spinach and with a cauliflower gratin. The meat was tender and flavorful and that gratin? I could have eaten that as an entree it was so good. Cauliflower and cheddar cheese never tasted so good! After sitting and watching the snow pile up outside- neither of us wanted to move from our cozy seats so we also ordered dessert. Creme brulee for my friend and an amazing caramel banana bread pudding for me with butter pecan ice cream. Had they not been closing for the night- I may have sat there all night. Service was spot on- our server was helpful and friendly and knew so much about the food and the restaurant. She was proud to be working at such a green establishment. She also told us that it was the first place she had worked at where the staff got to eat everything on the menu before they opened so that she could talk about all the dishes. Nice. Dinner for two was very reasonable given we both had enough food to take home another meal and ran about $78 for everything including drinks. And street parking is free and a breeze or there is a lot located to the north of the restaurant. So happy that a new restaurant has opened that is not Italian and not a pizza place. Moments swirled around our table in an endless passage of a story that we wanted to last forever. Kathleen M, Clifford S, M and I were eased into conversation with Prasino's libations and appetizers. The refreshing Cilantron cocktail was my favorite - topping even the velvety White Mayan. Other drinks that played on our tongues were the Kir Royale, Strawberry Mosa, at least two different red wines, and a concoction created extemporaneously by the mixologist. Although our hearts were brimming with pleasure, Prasino filled our stomachs with edible delights. We started with mussels and crab cakes. I only had a nibble of crab cake because I wanted to save myself for more. M is a mussel aficionado and said that Prasino's rendition was good. Later Kathleen M enjoyed a generous portion of lamb, Clifford S and M were both served pork chops where the corn somehow took center stage, and I had the lobster avocado and dragon roll. My lobster avocado tasted like butter. The owner Peggy stopped by our table a few times and treated us to dessert. Kathleen M devoured hers before I had a chance to see what it was! I'm also unsure what Clifford S ordered because M's vegan chocolate mousse dominated the conversation. We unanimously decided that animal fat is a blessing in mousse and that the vegans are martyrs to their diet. The visionaries of Prasino know how to carry a theme. Their food is clean and simple as is the decor and service. Unstained wood tables and chairs and prairie style lines throughout bragged of unadulterated lucidity. At first the service was slow, but then picked up. He did not interrupt us with verbose explanations of specials or menu items. He was the breeze bringing us delights but gave us space for the ebb and flow of our banter. I feel confident speaking for my group when I say that we all had a delightful four hours at Prasino in LaGrange. Although it's always the case that the restaurant only provides the backdrop for our visits, Prasino rose to the occasion. They did not dominate our interactions with grandiose ornamentation that distracted our conversation. Great place to meet up with friends for a leisurely meal. I went here for dinner tonight and ordered the hummus appetizer to start. This plate was HUGE. The hummus was pretty tasty. It came with pita bread, two large crackers, celery, carrots, and bell peppers. More than enough for three people to share. For my dinner I ordered the spinach salad with bacon. The salad was fresh, not too much egg, and the dressing had the right amount on it. The bacon, although so thick and smokey, really made the salad too salty. I ended up leaving some pieces behind; very hard for me to do since I am a member of the Clean Plate Club! The dessert menu came our way (we think it was the wrong one because it said "Fall menu"). I've been here a handful of times and I've been pleased with my food every time. I LOVE the atmosphere here; you feel like you're in a spa with the bamboo shoots and calming beige coloring. It's very relaxing and fairly posh for a place in La Grange. I've tried plenty of the menu, including delicious pancakes, crab cakes, and eggs benedict. There's something for everyone here whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, or a plain ole omnivore. I really appreciate that the menu specifies which items are vegetarian/vegan since I don't eat red meat. The food is SO good and you can eat feeling completely okay with finishing an entire entree because everything is pretty healthy (nothing has been bathed in oil like so many other restaurants). The atmosphere also makes me feel relaxed, and in a good mood as I enjoy my meal. My only complaints: It's a little pricier than it should be. Again, this is a suburb, not Chicago, and menu items should be priced accordingly. If I wanted to order an app, drink, and dessert, then I would end up paying probably $80 for two people. We were conscious of this when choosing items to order. Additionally, the service was a little off. All three of the times I've been here, I have made a reservation first and the hostess did not seat us right away. Why even bother making the reservation? I've also barely received any kind of apology for it. I make reservations because my time is valuable, and I fully expect restaurants to honor those reservations. If super busy, popular places in the city can properly honor reservations, then I really expect a place like Prasino would be able to do so (and, if not, offer a complementary drink). In any case, I do enjoy and recommend Prasino. I will definitely return in the future because it's one of the nicest place to get brunch in the nearby Western suburbs. read more

So I was heading out with a group of friends that needed 1. a kid's menu, 2. specific gluten-free options and 3. peanut free food. Prasino hooked us up with all three bases covered. The risotto cake and lobster stuffed avocado starters rocked. The kiddies enjoyed fresh-prepared smoothies with penne pasta and Amish chicken entree. I LOVED my butternut squash ravioli and my hubby's skirt steak. The molten chocolate cake dessert was a hit with the kiddos and the adults. Bonus points for great coffee. One particular weekend was different - my dream of brunch at Prasino was coming true. Onto the good stuff. The food. It's important to note that all 3 menus (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) contain some of the best sounding dishes I've ever heard of. After countless minutes of indecision, I opted for the hippie omelet and a side of fruit. The omelet itself was packed full of spinach, basil, goat cheese, and a side of tomato jam. It was nothing short of amazing. Light + fluffy + flavorful = perfection. The side of fruit was generous and full of pineapple, melon and grapes. My still half asleep bf ordered the Austin Texas eggs which is a spicy, jacked up version of biscuits and gravy. The jalapeño corn buttermilk biscuits were smothered with chorizo gravy and topped with a couple of over easy eggs. The dish had a definitely kick to it and was downright delicious. In fact, I was shot the evil eye when I went back for an extra bite. Service was the bummer of the day. Fine, I admit it. I am a meat and potatoes guy, I love burgers and I probably eat too many things that aren't good for me. If I could just live inside Prasino, I think I could be a reformed man. I would eat healthy, fresh organic food. My juices would be freshly squeezed and my meals balanced and nutritious. Plus, believe it or not, I would be one happy guy. This is the restaurant which balances it all; the food tastes good and it is good for you. And isn't this the idea? I have never had a bad meal here and I have eaten lots of breakfasts, a couple of lunches and a dinner here over the past year. Each one has been better than the last. Want to live longer? This was a nice change from the usual lineup of breakfast places. We're not often in the area, but decided to make a stop on our way to Brookfield Zoo. Service was nice, pretty professional and prompt. The host could have been friendlier and certainly more helpful when I asked to be directed to the restroom, but I'll let it slide. The coffee, I didn't love, but my husband enjoyed, so I guess it's a wash there. Seems like they make their own brand of coffee somehow, although I didn't see a place for a roaster on site. Cream and sugar were served in cute, reusable containers (not that I use either, but still appreciated the nice touch). I enjoyed my Jump start tacos. Egg whites, avocado, and cheese, with an interesting salsa served on the side. My husband and kids had the Hippie omelette that is made with tomato jam, which I've never had before but is so uniquely delicious. The potatoes served with our meals were top notch. And their GF pancakes are nothing to sneeze at, either. We weren't given kids menus despite having two little ones, and there was no changing table in the restroom. Pretty family-friendly otherwise, despite coming off a little cool and upscale. I'm interested in coming back for lunch. read more

My first experience at Prasino was truly impressive. The realm of breakfast is rarely surprising or impressive. The meal I ordered this morning was surprisingly impressive. I ordered the smoked salmon toast, the crab cakes Benedict, and the Austin Texas. The smoked salmon toast came with a small salad that was surprisingly fresh and bright. The veggies were delicious, and were benefitted by a delicate dressing and kalamata olives. The main dish featured avocado smeared on toast with smoked salmon, but the surprise was a thin layer of savory hummus that complemented the smoked salmon without overwhelming it. The Austin Texas is essentially biscuits and gravy, but the gravy is made from chorizo sausage. I was surprised by how the biscuits maintained their texture while still absorbing a little gravy. The chorizo gravy was rich and well seasoned with just a hint of heat. Served with eggs and diced hash browns, the Austin Texas alone was worth scraping the ice off my windshield. I highly recommend you try this wonderful dish while it is available as a limited time special. Overall I was very pleased, and intend to order from Prasino again, with an eye towards their creative, well executed specials. read more

I came here for dinner with a couple of friends on a Saturday night and was quite surprised to find that the place was dead. I will say that the menu was very interesting. It definitely caters to allot of different diets for example you'll find a lot of gluten-free items and dishes that are vegan. I have a flat bread as an appetizer, sushi for my main entrée and chocolate mousse for dessert. I was not impressed, this would not motivate me to try something different from their menu. Had a wonderful dinner with my daughter and grandson on Saturday evening, 4/6/19. My scallops were perfectly done accompanied by risotto and Edamame.
