But I brought my Subaru in for the typical oil change this past, hot Sunday. They didn't tell me until AFTER the fact. But they accidentally drained my CVT fluid (which is a big deal for Subarus). I don't know what they replaced the fluid with since the fluid wasn't listed on the invoice. My car started to make a "whizzing" noise from the CVT area while slowly ascending an incline. This noise hasn't previously happened in the past. I was already planning to bring it into Subaru for a CVT fluid flush. But this mistake by Valvoline made it mandatory for me. So I'm bringing it into Subaru tomorrow. I'm hoping that the transmission fluid they used hasn't caused any damage. I don't know if it was just the hot weather. But I can't trust them enough to go back to them now. I'm hoping no real damage was done to my CVT.

He stated that he bore no responsibility, and claimed responsibility lay with corporate , in effect, their inefficiency. As if he the employee and the company were a separate entity. Absurd! I never received any cancellation email or notice. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. Yet, my experience may not be your experience. Still, customer service goes a long way in my book.

When I tried to explain I was just confirming, he hung up and placed me on hold mid-sentence. When I called back to express that hanging up was dismissive, he told me I shouldn't bring my car to the store at all. When I asked for a manager, he stated he was the General Manager, then repeatedly talked over me until I hung up. As a woman seeking auto care, I already approach these shops with caution. This interaction left me feeling completely unwelcome. It is deeply concerning that this behavior comes from the person responsible for leading the store. Joe, the owner and sole worker is awesome! brought my car in for a smog check plus additional fixes. I went in for an oil change, tire rotation, and re-alignment (as my alignment was terrible). Turned out, I needed new tie rods as they were very loose and causing major problems. That was the exact reasoning given. This was not about warranty. It was not about saving me money. I was fully prepared to pay for an inspection or any necessary correction. I was simply asking for a professional second opinion. If a shop refuses work because they're concerned a customer might "get upset," that raises serious questions about confidence in their own work. A reputable shop stands behind its skills and diagnoses issues regardless of who previously touched the vehicle. Changing the explanation publicly after the fact does not reflect well. I stand by what I said. I had a very disappointing experience at Automotive Instincts in Northridge. I called and spoke with Steve about looking at my car after another shop had worked on it, and he basically told me they didn't want to touch it because another shop already did the work. His reasoning was that he didn't want me to "get upset at them too." That makes absolutely no sense. As a customer, I'm simply looking for a professional second opinion or proper correction if something wasn't done right. Refusing to even inspect the vehicle just because another shop previously worked on it feels unprofessional and dismissive. Cars get worked on by multiple shops all the time -- that's normal. Turning someone away out of fear of a bad review instead of standing behind your own skills says a lot. Very disappointing customer service. I expected more professionalism and confidence from a shop with such high ratings.

Over a year later and I now only go to Connor for anything car related. I even got my boyfriend to go to him and he is now a loyal customer as well.
