I have been coming here for years. I was sold by joe when I had a specific issue with my steering wheel shaking. I had been calling around and around places and most people just told me to bring it in and they would see what the problem was. Joe on the other hand, asked me about 5-7 questions about my issue trying to narrow it down over the phone so he could give me a price range. He did not try to bamboozle me like other auto shops. And ever since then, I will never go to another place. He's like my car guru. He actually cares about you and your vehicle! It showed when I brought it for a long overdue oil change and he expressed his disappointment of my care of vehicle. Lol. I was actually headed out of town just now. I used to go back and forth between getting my car repaired at the Honda Dealer and Precision Auto Clinic but since my last visit to Precision Auto. I am now a dedicated customer. A couple of things sold me on having my service only done at Precision Auto instead going to the dealership. First: Honda service center is bad a keeping records. If I go to a Honda service center one time in Van Nuys where I live and then go to a service center another time in Santa Clarita where I work. The service center in Santa Clarita will not be able to bring up the history of repairs I had done in Van Nuys. How in the world can I remember what I had done to my car since my last oil change. I would have to look up all of my past reports then present them to the service center. The Honda Service Center should have everybody's reports on the cloud that way no matter what service center you go to your vehicle history will be there. Get with the times people! Next, In all of my history of car repair I have never had the mechanic contact me after the repair to see how my car is running. THAT! is going above and beyond and that is how you keep your customers coming back. Last: (and there's probably more but I just can't think of any right now) I love how he takes pictures of the problems with your car and sends them to you. Let me start by saying how much I HATE mechanics...it's probably my least favorite part of life with a car (besides the 405 at rush hour...) Joe was great from start to finish. I live in Sacramento and contacted him about getting a truck that had been sitting for close to 3 years that I needed to get running and smogged. He patiently chatted with me by phone several times while we planned for a date to get the truck towed there and was always responsive when I had questions or updates. He methodically went through all the necessary checks and kept me updated on everything by text message, pictures and phone calls. He even took time out of his day to take the truck out for some freeway driving to get it ready for a smog test. My car battery died in my parking garage and I needed it to be towed to a mechanic. I called Joe to see if they were still open for the day as it was late afternoon and he told me he would wait until I got there even if it was after their closing time. What a nice guy! As soon as I pulled up with my towing guy he immediately came out to greet us. You know how you just get a good feeling about a person? Joe gives you that. He's a genuinely nice person. He text me this morning to let me know the price (which was very reasonable) and told me other things that need to be fixed but wasn't pushy in the slightest. Highly recommended this business for your mechanical needs. My husband took our sons car to get everything that was wrong with it fixed. The check engine light was on and we needed to get a smog. I did take my car inn for transmission and coolant change.It was a reasonable price and he also noticed that my car needed another part changed, he even sent photos of what he was talking about so I thought that was awesome to show me, not just tell me I had a part that needed to be changed.And he gave me a good deal to change it! There are 4 really good signs to what makes a good mechanic: 1. You call them up, and instead of saying "come in, let's take a look at the car," leading to them scaring you into a possibly unnecessary repair that is VERY costly, the good mechanic will listen to what the problem is, if it's a check engine light they'll get the codes from you, and access the severity of the situation, really instead of scaring you, giving you the options and possible outcomes. 2. Knowing that price is ALWAYS an issue, no matter who you are (no one wants to go to the mechanic) they'll make an effort to keep cost down, while trying to keep cost down. 3. They'll actually show you the problem, instead of that who "you can't go inside the garage for liability reasons," BS. They will show you what's happening, explain why that's happening, and then access the severity of the situation. 4. They will follow up with you, and they will also do what they can to help you with whatever situation you're in. Joe has this in spades. To give you the story, my car had an on-and-off check engine light, and I had a code reader. I called him, told him the codes, and told him I planned to sell the vehicle 2-4 weeks from that point. He said "judging by those codes, the problem shouldn't be severe to the point that it'll effect the drive-ability and if the engine light is off and the car drives, trading it in shouldn't be a problem." Well, going forward I felt uncomfortable driving the car and it turned out it would be another 6-8 weeks before I was able to trade the car in, so I took it in. Granted, the emissions diagnostic was $90, he explained why it costs that much and that it takes awhile to test that system, thus it's purely a labor cost. He found the problem with my O2 sensor, but looked further given the symptoms my car was having. Basically, my last mechanic lied to me in saying the Purge Valve wasn't severe enough to pay attention to or repair. He showed me how it was basically deforming my gas tank and causing it to implode and constrain the amount of vapor going into my engine. Besides disconnecting the valve until the part could be replaced, he did what he could to get a very particular part the next day and repair the car as quickly as he could keeping in mind my schedule. Summing it up, what would've been a $2000 repair at the dealer, or a $1200 repair at a franchise auto shop, ended up costing me around $800. I wasn't happy that it cost that much, but looking at what it could've been had I been stupid enough not to call Joe's shop, it could've been WAY worse. He even gave me great tips on cars that have a great maintenance record for future cars, knowing that the goal for ANY driver is to keep the car out of the shop as much as possible. Bottom line, if you want a cheap mechanic, that doesn't really exist. Parts cost money, the service of the mechanic costs money. It's the nature of the beast. Joe at Precision Auto Clinic is exactly what any driver would want: honest, has integrity, understanding and works with his customers rather than against. On an economic standpoint, he is also someone who understands the need and balance for doing the job right and keeping the cost down as much as possible. I can't recommend him enough. read more

Took my car here after having a terrible experience at CarFriend (I will never go back there again). Unlike Carfriend, the people at PAC were honest, courteous, professional and they did great work on my car at a fair price. I went in for a routine tire rotation / inspection and was informed that I needed new break pads, as mine had been dangerously worn down to almost nothing. This could have caused me a lot of expensive damage had it gone unnoticed for much longer, and the last place I went failed to notify me about this. I work nearby so dropped my car off here for an oil and filter change. They got it done the same day for a good price. They also managed to change the engine clutch actuator fluid on my Kia Niro plug-in hybrid which is a somewhat bizarre maintenance item that is only need in plug in hybrid cars that have a clutch to switch between electric and hybrid mode. The dealership we usually take our vehicle to get serviced advised us that the front brakes needed to be replaced as well as the brake rotors machined. I had no problem with that, as I knew the brakes had not been changed in a while. The problem I had was the expense of the repair was way too much. No wonder they call them stealerships. We looked around on the internet and came across Precision's Yelp site. The reviews were positive, so we decided to call them up. We spoke to Joe, who was professional and polite. He gave us a quote MUCH LESS expensive than the dealership, and a he said we could bring the vehicle in right away. I brought the vehicle in the next morning, and was greeted by Joe who took a look at the brakes and said he could have it done in a couple hours. I agreed, came back in a couple hours and the repair had been completed. I was really impressed with the professionalism of this place. I was quoted a fair price, the work was done when they said it would be done, and the brakes work great. What really impressed me the most was the follow-up call from Joe asking how the car was running. Who does that anymore? I will definitely be bringing my vehicles to this place when needed. read more
