They are straight up on telling you what is wrong with the car, but they overcharge on parts.They told me it would cost $160 for a crankshaft position sensor and I just ordered an OEM part for $65.They were charging me $114 or $140 (I don't exactly remember the price he gave me) for a MAP sensor and I just ordered an OEM part for $95.Where the hell do they order their parts from? First Impressions really count!!! So glad I found Joe and his shop on yelp. I really needed an oil change today and since I'm not so familiar with the valley. I trusted yelp to find me some good and honest reviews. Precision Auto Clinic was the #1 recommended on the list.. so I figured I would give them a shot. I had just gotten out of work so I didn't even notice that they were 30 mins into closing. Joe had missed my first call, but he returned my call within the next minute. Told me to head on over to the shop. ( side note, I totally went to the wrong place first, a block down the road there was a smog shop that has almost the same business name) O_o.. When I got there Joe and one of his mechanics, helped me right away. Both of them had such a good vibe, friendly and professional. Right after I introduced myself to Joe I felt at ease. Even at the end of the day they are still able to remain happy.. thats a good thing. You know that they love what they do. I don't know much about cars but so far the prices are reasonable. During the oil change his mechanic found something wrong with my car and told me about it right away, and I was surprised that he called me over to actually see for myself what the problem was. ( My car is an old honda civic, Ive had my fair share of repairs, and many were overpriced and probably unnecessary) I was surprised when he called me over to show me the damage and explained it to me. They didn't distract me with big words, it was straight to the point. Im very happy that I now have an auto shop to go to. I totally see myself coming here for all of my car care needs. PS. My car had been sitting for a year and had quite a few minor issues, so I needed to bring it in. I called AAA for recommendations, and found out if I used one of those businesses, the work would be under a special warranty since I was a AAA member. Unfortunately, I looked up each of those businesses on Yelp, and they all had low ratings and scary reviews. I was tired of always getting ripped off, so when I saw the 5 star rating for Precision Auto, I called the shop and asked if they were on AAA's list. When the guy said no, I hesitated, then told him I saw his rating on Yelp and would give it a chance anyway. I scheduled an appointment, then brought my car in. When I got there, it was in a "strip mall" of other auto shops with very little parking. I was a little worried, but when I met Joe, I felt a lot better. I'm not sure what it was, but he had an open, honest face and a quiet, pleasant manner. Still, I wasn't sure what to expect. Before I left, I asked him about a flashing light on my dash, and within one minute he was able to tell me what the problem was (my car wasn't recognizing my key anymore). Impressed, I went home and waited for his call. When Joe called, he gave me a full breakdown of problems, and without my prompting, told me what was most important and what was least important and could probably wait. He gave me a quote, and I consulted my boyfriend to find out if it was reasonable. My boyfriend said it was extremely reasonable (lower than any place he had ever gone), and told me to call back and accept right away. An hour later, I got another call from Joe. He had found two more things - a minor issue with a cracked belt, that he wanted to warn me of but said it could definitely wait another year before it needed to be replaced, and that my headlights were very dim and that there was a process a shop next door could do to restore them for $75. I definitely wanted my headlights restored (I had been having difficulty driving in the dark, but thought it was my eyes (turns out it was absolutely my headlights - if your headlights seem dim, HAVE HIM DO THIS)), and my boyfriend said the quote for the belt was very low, so I should do that too. Because Joe hadn't pressured me into replacing the belt in the least, I felt Joe was definitely more honest than other mechanics in my past and was now comfortable with him working on my car. I let Joe know I wanted him to replace the belt and restore the headlights, and then went to pick up the car the next morning. Surprisingly, the car had been thoroughly cleaned and waxed, and the parts under the hood looked brand new. We were so impressed, we asked right then and there for a quote for my boyfriend's car, and Joe fixed one of the issues for free within 5 minutes. Now, a few months later, my car is still working beautifully and I still feel no buyer's remorse. My boyfriend and I have finally found our mechanic! read more

I got side swiped in my Prius and to top it off the person took off. I was new to the valley and just sat in the middle of Sherman oaks crying not knowing who to call or what to do. I called me cousin for help and she directed me to joe. I had my car towed right to his shop. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease after such a dramatic experience. Wow! Joe at Precision Auto saved us two days ago. We live on the central coast and were down in So Cal to pick up a car that my daughter had left there when she moved to New York. Unfortunately, a few days before we picked up the car (and unbeknownst to us) someone stole the catalytic converter of our 2000 Acura 3.2 TL (really? who does this?) Anyhow, we had to get the car back home and we didn't know if we should tow it home or try to get it repaired down there. On a fluke, we decided to check YELP and see if there was anyone nearby who could help. Precision Auto came up with five stars so we gave him a call. By my description of the sound the car was making, he knew exactly what had happened. We brought the car to him around 2pm and he said he'd try to get it taken care of so we could get home. Sure enough, he found a replacement catalytic converter and had it taken care of even though it had to be taken to a welder to be finished. Also, when we pulled up to Joe's shop, we couldn't help but notice how CLEAN it was. Clean, tidy, organized....we felt very confident leaving our car with him. Joe was so personable and knowledgeable and did I mention that he shop was CLEAN? I would recommend him to anyone needing any auto repair. Joe did a great job on my car. I took it in for an oil change and engine clean, but he ended up findings a few other items that needed attention. He took care of everything and even followed up with me a few days later, which was very nice to know he keeps his customers is mind even when they leave the door. The only "criticism" is the price charged for labor. Personally for me, it seemed very high, however I did not shop around to see what other shops charge nor did I attempt to negotiate. I can't attest for any of their other services as I just needed a smog check but I gave them five stars for seeing me on such short notice. I was at the DMV all ready to get my car registration when I was told that I needed to get a smog check before they wold issue me a new sticker. Yelp to the rescue! I yelped smog stations nearby and Precision Auto Clinic was the first to pop up. I called to see if they take walk ins and Joe answered the phone. He was was very friendly, they were very accommodating and took me in right away. 20 minutes later my car passed the smog I went back to the DMV and was issued a new sticker. Joe at Precision Auto was just amazing. for being a women having to take my car to a mechanic and not get ripped off or lied to, I am really impressed. My 2009 Altima stopped driving, my car was in gear and I just left a stop sign and when I pressed the gas my car quit shifting. He wasn't someone who was going to overcharge you like the other 2 mechanics I went to did. In Los Angeles for work from San Diego. My car started shuddering when I hit the gas and it felt like the engine was either not getting enough gas or getting too much. I took it in to Joe based on yelp reviews and he managed to replicate the problem while it was attached to his equipment. He said it was the ignition coils and gave me a ~600 estimate for parts/labor. My father has rebuilt a few cars so I was able to ask him if this was a plausible diagnosis/good price. He told me that if the coils were responsible I was getting a great deal (he said most places would charge about a grand). Joe responded quickly, within about 5 minutes of my inquiry on yelp.
