We have a 2013 RX350 F Sport with the 8 speed transmission that began to shudder at around 85k miles. I replaced the transmission fluid twice according to the Lexus forum. People online have known about this problem for a while now, and many have had to replace their transmission. At around 90K (last month), I felt that the shuddering was getting more pronounced. Called Fremont Lexus and left messages but no one called back. Also called Lexus (manufacturer) and they pretended they had never heard of such a thing. Anyway, I called Henry on a Monday morning before operating hours and he asked to see the car. I brought the car in on Wednesday, took it for a test drive and proceeded to ask me to try Lubegard before doing any major work. Explained to me the workings of transmissions and torque converters for over an hour. Two weeks ago, I tried the Lubegard and to my surprise, it fixed the shudder. Is it a permanent fix? Probably not, but just the fact that he had my car and my pocket book in mind more than his business is unheard of. Thumbs up to Henry for being such an honest and standup guy. I had a problem with the transmission on one of our winding machines. with a bent shaft and he fixed it too a very tight tolerance., which I did not think it could be done. When we but it back together we ran into another problem, because Henry did such a good job I gave him a call for help. He came out to our company and went over our problems. Easily 5 Stars, don't waste your time looking for another shop. My 1st gen Tacoma was having issues changing gears. I looked online at forums, etc. and talked to several transmission shops here on the Peninsula and Santa Clara. Everything pointed to either bad solenoids, rebuilding my transmission or to buy a used transmission since they no longer make mine. Either way I was looking at spending $2k - $5k. I luckily found Precision Transmissions, stopped in and spoke to Henry about a rebuild. He has 5 stars for a reason. In short, he listened to what I had to say, asked a few questions and said I might not need a rebuild but he will need to see my truck. Dropped off my mother's 2005 Toyota Matrix since it had approached 170K on the odometer. I had previously recommended my fishing buddy Tom and his Toyota Sequoia for a transmission overhaul, and Tom was happy with Precision Transmission's work and reasonable price, so it was a no-brainer along with the handful of stellar Yelp reviews. Mother's Toyota Matrix had a slight whine before bringing it in, and Mr. Henry (very nice and professional, but what is most important to me is that he is very honest) educated me that it was the transmission bearings that may be getting old and eventually will go bad. But he also told me that the car was still good to run safely (even though the tranny bearings are getting old), and maybe even with some good maintenance and early and often fluid changes, might even last another 50K miles. Handed the key to my cute mother's cute little Toyota, and in 24 hours later received a phone call to come pick it up. While driving her Toyota Matrix home, it was shifting buttery smooth again. The feeling is like a fresh new oil change, the car just runs almost like new again without hiccups. Needless to say, i am satisfied just like my friend who had a whole new rebuilt transmission done. So now that i have a good and trustworthy mechanic/shop for my transmission work, i am going to be scheduling my BMW 530i and Nissan Titan to have both transmission fluids changed. Peace of mind is often worth more than the journey itself, and preventative maintenance is the way to go for me. But only, if my mechanic is honest and good at what he does. Precision Transmission gets busy. I am almost reluctant to post this review, since it is already hard to find parking the times i've been here. Henry a professional and will explain the process of what is needed to get your car back on the road and won't quit until it's done right. He does have a small shop so he may be busy but he'll tell you right up front that he may have to pug your car in a lineup but he'll get to it being so busy it may take an extra day to her it back but it'll be right when you do. Henry and his team did a great job rebuilding the transmission in my truck, and for a reasonable price. If you hear loud grinding coming from your transmission as you cruise on I880, and are filled with dread that some manner of terrible things has befallen your vehicle, at least be thankful if it happens near Precision Transmissions. As I coasted off the freeway I was fortunate enough to call Henry, who was still around after hours. He was recommended by other mechanics in the area as "the man" to go to with transmission issues. They are not wrong. Henry was able to give me a reasonable estimate on the spot, and schedule my truck in (he is busy!). He was able to diagnose the likely parts failure, and cost, based only on the particular type of unpleasant noises being emitted from my transmission. How cool is that? He was busy, but a week or so later, as promised, I picked up my truck with rebuilt transmission and new torque converter, for slightly less than Henry's estimate. It shifts as smooth as silk. It is apparent that these guys know transmissions inside out, have the experience to do what is a challenging job, and do it right. They can also regale you with some fun stories of other epic transmission-related failures to boot. I was lucky my truck decided to chew up its transmission on Henry's doorstep. When it comes to Auto Machanics, HONESTY is what I look for. I had a 1996 Toyota Van with a transmission that starting to shift slower than normal. First off, thank you Henry, you are truly an honest guy and mechanic. Transmissions are something that anyone could easily fool a customer into more expensive repairs and such. However, Henry was very transparent and honest from the get go, he was actually referred to me by my regular mechanic who I would also vouch for any day. Anyway, Henry made me feel very comfortable knowing that the car was left in great hands. The turnaround time was long, but Henry had saved us a bunch of money with his careful diagnosis and by taking his time to exhaust every resource that he had to give us the best deal. Henry also didn't have the easiest time with the specific car that I brought in as he had heard from 3 different people regarding it, so thank you for your patience with that Henry. Got a used 2006 F-150 manual transmission from a used car lot. The sellers always don't tell you something. The clutch sometimes not work and has noise when turning. Henry found out the problems that need to replace the clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, and the front wheel bearing. Henry finished the job in one day with a reasonable price. Besides Henry did more than expected! He changed my front rotors and fixed the hanger of my exhaust for free. He also drives me to my company the day when I drop off the truck.
