This place for brunch on the weekend is great! It's right across from fashion square mall which makes it kind of hard to find parking but, otherwise it's a cool restaurant. I ordered the salmon hash bowl which was delicious and a pecan cinnamon roll. My only complaint with this restaurant is that the portion sizes are maybe slightly smaller than I'd expect, especially for the price! Wow, another hidden gem! Dropped in as my friend recommended it as a nice brunch spot as it was my birthday. We came after horseback riding so we were hungry. Baby let me tell you ... never get a mimosa on an empty stomach but if you do decide to get a mimosa on an empty stomach get it from prep and pastry. Specifically that prickly pear mimosa. Baby that will hit the spot. It's the right amount of champagne and sweetness that I specifically enjoy. Some places put too much champagne, not enough flavoring, but this place has the balance down!! I got the steak sanwhich and it comes with side potatoes, these are some of the best potatoes I have had. Really good flavor, soft but with nice crisp edges. For me I love ketchup on potatoes so it was the icing on the cake. Steak sandwhich did not disappoint as well. I will have to go back and try other options. We had ordered a ice vanilla latte, a caramel cappuccino , and a strawberry chai Honestly, each drink was not the very best tasting, but we don't know if that's how they usually taste or not due to the fact that it was our first time trying this place out. But we made it work out. I had ordered a BLT sandwich with fries which roughly came out to $15. The sandwich itself was good, but it honestly felt a little pricey due to the fact, it only had two bacon strips. 6/10 After hearing really good things about this place, I'm not sure what happened or if it was just an off day, but I probably won't be coming here again. read more

I've been lucky to have been to Prep and Pastry for years now, including when I lived in Tucson. I have to say their coffee and baked goods are top freaking notch. This last visit I had a cinnamon roll and it might be the best one I've ever had! The frosting was perfectly light and rich and as a whole it wasn't too sweet and was sooo soft. That gorgeous layered drink I think is a cubano - whatever it was it was so perfect. My friend always gets the iced lavender latte which is delicious as well. You can't go wrong with any of the coffee drinks imo, and I love the variety of mimosas. The food is hit or miss, not going to lie, which is why I went with a 4/5 rating. The shakshuka is really good, I def recommend trying that, as is the avocado toast, prep omelette, duck confit (this is REALLY rich), and the sweet potato hash. I tried the smoked salmon benny this past visit - something I've had plenty of times elsewhere - and it was not good. The salmon was super dry, the whole thing needed salt. I ended up just eating the potatoes and dousing it in hot sauce to give it flavor. Otherwise, this place is always packed on the weekend, so it's a fun vibe if you're coming for brunch and you can walk on the canal after! Make a reservation if you don't want to wait. The service is always fine, nothing amazing but they don't make you feel rushed which is always nice. I think this is one of the best brunch places in this immediate area as long as you order the right food or stick to coffee, drinks, and pastries. read more

One of our go to brunch spots! The atmosphere is always pretty calm and it's a pretty normal volume both inside and on the patio. We love sitting on the patio and people/car watching. The service has always been great here when we've gone. Every waiter and waitress we've had has been nothing short of wonderful. Anytime we've had an issue it's been fixed immediately. The entrees never disappoint and the chocolate croissants are a must. We usually order multiple dishes and then share amongst the table when family is in town. I have yet to have an entree that hasn't been good. There have been some hit or miss bakery items though like the red velvet donut and there have been some hit or miss drinks as well. Yummm! I just stopped by to grab some pastries because I'd already had breakfast and I'm really glad that I did! Everything in the pastry display looked great, so I had a hard time deciding. Now that I've had three of their pastries, I tend to believe that I couldn't have gone wrong. I got the chocolate croissant, the raspberry pistachio dossant, and carrot cake. The surprise favorite here was the dossant! The raspberry topping was more tart than I had expected, which was EXCELLENT because I really do not enjoy overly sweet fruity flavors. The dossant itself was soft and fluffy and very enjoyable to eat. I could have done without the sugar coating on the bottom, though. For me, this tipped the overall flavor into the top sweet domain. The chocolate croissant was SO flakey. I don't know how many folds they do for their croissants, but it's a delicious amount lol. Each layer was super thin and light and it gave the exterior a really nice crunch. There was ample chocolate inside, too. The carrot cake was moist and tender with a warm cinnamon-y flavor and a thick cream cheese frosting, mmmm! This place was just as good as 2 years ago when we ate here. Got Chef Kiannas special French toast this time and it was delicious. The cranberry sauce with the maple syrup simply delicious. (we did like Kayla's special Champaign French toast better) but this was great also. The poblano Verde was also very delicious the poblano peppers with the carnitas and egg served over the biscuit was delicious. The side of the roasted/fried potatoes were simply ridiculous and delicious. I could eat a whole plate of just those!! I got the cinnamon maple corrado and it was good and strong but didn't have too much cinnamon flavor. The iced cranberry matcha just had a weird taste to me but Boyfriend really liked it.
