We went on a date to Preserve last night, and overall had a good time, but it's not going to become a place I want to go on a regular basis. The food and drinks were creative, but didn't all hit the mark. Their house made kombucha was, for me, the highlight, taste-wise. It was delicious! At $7 per wine size serving, it was the thing that I believe was best value for the money. My partner got the gin cocktail, which I also tasted, and we agreed that it was tasty, but was very blueberry forward, and the Earl Grey in it was buried completely. We each got the Summer Squash entree, after having indulged in more comfort foods over vacation recently. Unfortunately, this was pesto heavy and we both wanted more actual squash. It's presented beautifully, but like with the cocktail, the balance was just a bit off. I would have been happier with half the pesto and double the veggies. For dessert, we split the brownie with blueberry compote and basil whipped cream on top. In this form, the basil didn't really taste like basil specifically, but gave the whole thing a bit of an odd flavor, it didn't mesh with the blueberry the way basil usually does. Overall, enjoyed the meal, but can't say I recommend it much or that I will go back soon. Maybe just for a glass of their next kombucha flavor. The modern, open interior with the cutesy decor/atmosphere has an inviting feel that can't be ignored - so in we go. I sat at the bar on both visits. The menu has changed since then and I honestly can't remember what I ordered the first time, which was more than a year before my latest visit, but this visit, I can say with certainty that the food was solid. Nothing too crazy but I also wasn't looking for that. My salad was dressed perfectly - balanced seasoning topped with smoked salmon. We also had some wine. Service was attentive, space was clean, and there really wasn't much to complain about. But I have to say, I'd be more prone to come here as a local. We ordered the pickle brined fried oysters, so delicious with a nice kick of heat and not overly breaded. Next we got the harvest salad which was a palette of sweet, salty and nutty. Then on the brunch menu we ordered the salmon roll, I have to say it reminds me of a lobster roll not exactly the same but a little on the presentation. An unexpected discovery on Main Street in downtown Annapolis. We didn't know there was a boat show weekend when we took our out of town guest to Annapolis. Our favorite lunch places were fully booked and parking was impossible. Found Preserve thanks to fellow Yelpers' reviews and we were lucky to get a table right away. On Sundays there is a branch menu till 3 pm. We chose from it - smoked salmon on toast with eggs Benedict and salad. It was excellent. Salad was an interesting mix of garden greens, eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection. I tried home made kombucha and it was very good, truly kombucha with a hint of honey , not a typical commercially made vinegar smelling acidic drink. This is the first establishment where kombucha was exactly how it is supposed to taste.
