I remember standing outside one night listening to my neighbor's generator roar to life again. It sounded like a chainsaw tearing through the quiet. Across the street, friends with solar and batteries had their lights on. Their kids were inside watching TV. Life looked normal. Meanwhile, I was packing up my family to leave our home. Rising electricity rates, AI data centers consuming massive amounts of power, and talk of double digit rate increases made going solar the right thing to do. I researched heavily. Built a spreadsheet. Interviewed over a dozen companies. Got bids through Energy Sage, cold called installers, and asked around for referrals. I wasn't looking for a sales pitch. I was looking for people I could trust with my home and my family's security. Infinity Solar felt different from the start. I didn't have to deal with brokers or middlemen to jack up prices. They are family owned, in business over 25 years, BBB A+ rated, and 5 stars on Yelp. Tim, the owner is a C10 licensed contractor, sets the tone for the entire company. His pride and commitment to doing things right shows up in every person on his team. Sara, our project manager, kept everything organized with clear, proactive communication. Blake handled the maze of permitting. If you've dealt with solar permitting in California you know what a mess it is. State, county, city, and fire department all with their own rules. Blake stayed on top of all of it so I didn't have to. Joel made sure the job site ran smoothly. The crew deserves real recognition: electricians Adrian, Ivan, Salvador, and Christian; roof lead Arni; installers Jose, Gabriel, Kieren, Israel, Erik, and Robert; and Deyvis helping with inspection. They showed up on time, worked hard, kept everything clean, and answered my endless questions without ever making me feel like I was in the way. Construction always has bumps. Permits get revised, inspectors want changes. What mattered was how Infinity handled it. Calmly, professionally, and without disappearing. Tim must be a good boss and take care of his people because this is a crew of highly skilled workers who take real pride in what they do. The day the system went live felt like a turning point. Our first outage was December 23rd while setting up for a Christmas party. Power was out over eight hours. The lights never flickered. I only knew because the app alerted me. Tim included a Solar Insure 30 year warranty covering panels, microinverters, wiring, and roof penetrations, including labor. It's backed by an A+ Superior rated third party insurer and is transferable if I sell my home. An installer's warranty is useless if they go out of business, so this gives real peace of mind. Because I verify everything, I called Solar Insure, Enphase, FranklinWH, and REC directly to confirm Infinity is a Premium or Platinum installer with each. They are. I'll break even in 8 years at current rates, sooner when rates keep climbing, and you know they will. But more than savings, it's peace of mind. When the grid goes down, our house doesn't. She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue. Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. Overall a very good response and experience with OC specifically for this issue. I feel that they do want to stand out from the crowd and responding proactively to feedback gives me more confidence they'll take care of issues as they hear about them.

They sent me a new tracking app to join last year so I could share my system information with them, which leads me to believe they weren't tracking the system the way they said they would be. The data it shared is the same data I had already communicated with them.

The install was painless, and the system was up and running before we knew it. Upon completion, the owner provided us with an app to track production and consumption in real time, so we can be sure everything is operating as it should. Unlike other companies, which apparently ghost you as soon as you've paid your money, SunSolar continues to reach out. They assured me that they're with us for the lifetime of the system, and everything so far bears that out. It's been a fantastic experience all around. There's a reason SunSolar's Yelp reviews are so high: they do everything they can to earn them! If you're thinking about solar, spare yourself the grief, agony, and distress that you read about in reviews of other companies. Go with the company that has proven itself, day-in and day-out, for over a decade.

A few months later, after an HVAC replacement, our solar suddenly stopped working. Justin responded quickly - even on a Sunday - and scheduled a follow-up visit within a few days. The issue turned out to be a simple fix, and he didn't charge for the trip out, which we really appreciated. He was also very patient in helping talk through my concerns before the visit and explaining everything in a clear, helpful way, which made learning a new system much less stressful. We don't expect off-hours responses or no charge follow-ups for an issue they didn't cause (even for an easy fix), but it reflects the level of care we personally experienced with this wonderful company. Overall, highly recommend Solar Tune Up.

While he was not certified for our specific required repair, he helped us troubleshoot and even contacted our inverter supplier to ensure we are still under warranty. The contract clearly says service calls and repairs will be handled at no charge. After Barnes was sold, bought by "LA Solar Group", two of my Enphase inverters failed. The manufacturer provided the replacement part, with the help of "LA solar Group", but the new company "LA Solar Group" refused to cover the labor, even though my contract says otherwise. They told me they would not grant "Barnes Solar, Inc." warranties and labor wasn't included -- which is simply false. A cost of $650.- for the visit. This leaves customers like me stuck with bills for repairs that should be covered for decades. It seems the new company "La Solar Group" took over Barnes's customers but not the warranty obligations. If you bought from Barnes Solar, know that your 25-year warranty may not actually be honored. I'll be possibly filing complaints with the CSLB and considering small claims to enforce my rights. If you happen to have the same issue please contact me. Very disappointing experience and a warning to others considering long-term solar warranties.

Per Sunnyvale Municipal Code § 5.38.050, "It is unlawful for any solicitor to ring the doorbell or knock on the door of any residence that has a sign posted stating 'No Soliciting' or similar wording." Dave ignored this entirely and proceeded to pressure us about changing our solar system -- something we never invited or expressed interest in. That's a direct violation of city law and a clear breach of basic respect for residents' privacy. If this is how Nexus Solar operates -- disregarding city ordinances and harassing people at their homes -- I'd strongly recommend staying far away. If they can't respect your doorstep, why would you trust them with your roof? Shame on Nexus Solar.

Since my husband and I were in the process of making decisions based on contractor bids, I later reached out and specifically asked if a written quote could be provided. After waiting without receiving anything, I followed up with Arturo by text and was told that he would send the quote later that day. Four days passed, and I still did not receive the written estimate or any update. I sent another follow-up message and received no response at all. The only positive part of my experience was communicating with their staff, Abigail. The person responding to my texts, who I believe was Abigail, was responsive and helpful whenever I reached out to the company's main number. Unfortunately, despite her responsiveness, I still had difficulty getting the information I needed from the technician assigned to my project. I understand that delays can happen, but timely communication and following through on commitments are important. Based on my experience, I was disappointed by the lack of responsiveness and would encourage the company to improve communication between their technicians and potential customers.

An Architect's Review…read more As an architect, I work with contractors on a regular basis and needless to say, I was probably more particular than most when it came to choosing someone to work on my own home. Word of mouth and research led me to ARC / Armando... and I'm glad I went with him! From the beginning, communication was clear and straightforward. We went through the scope of work, my requirements and budget. I had some very basic drawings prepared to communicate my ideas. Along the way, Armando made suggestions to work with my requirements and budget. His pricing was reasonable and, most importantly, he completed the work within the budget we originally agreed upon. Anyone who has done a renovation before knows how easily costs can start creeping up once work begins. That was not my experience here. The scope and budget were established upfront and Armando stuck to them. And this was very important to me as I had no way of accommodating an increase in cost. The work was for a garage renovation, it included interior demo, replacement of an exterior window, addition of a new exterior door, vinyl wood flooring, drywall and installation of a new gypsum ceiling. Work progressed efficiently and to my expectations with no unnecessary delays. Communication throughout the project was excellent, and mostly Armando initiating the conversations to keep me updated. He was also very easy to work with on finishes and hardware. Some items I provided myself while others were sourced by him. Again, he made recommendations to work with my budget while not compromising on quality. Speaking of quality, the quality of the work was exceptional. It has now been over a year since the renovation was completed and everything still looks as good as the day it was finished. Absolutely zero complaints! His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He constantly made suggestions when he felt something could be improved. For example, he suggested a more random tile pattern for the vinyl floor instead of the more regular stagger I had proposed. We went with his suggestion and I am very pleased with it. Armando is knowledgeable, reliable and a pleasure to work with. Coming from someone who deals with contractors professionally all the time, I don't make that recommendation lightly. Definitely highly recommended and he will be my first call for future projects!

John Arellano of prestige roofing came by the next morning and within 15 minutes came up with suggestions and a very favorable estimate for removing my roof on top of a roof and replacing it. Within two days he sent a professional contract which I immediately agreed to. On the day of work, the company brought a portable toilet. The team showed up on time, removed the double roof and put all the trash in the truck. They stopped at 5 PM, and cleaned up the front and backyard. The Forman Lupe, and his assistant Peter had the job checked by the city inspector and the work started again. The process was efficient and the crew were polite and considerate. Lupe and Peter were great in supervising the job and team. The roof was completed in 3 days. Jocelyn their office manager, was very helpful with the documentation and even drove out to show us shingle samples. I am very satisfied with the work Prestige roofing did. Part of our roof is flat and there is an extension which is also flat (Total ~1000 sq. ft). Both sections had leaks around sky lights. Got estimates for several companies for flat roof replacement. John from Prestige roofing came and got on the roof and showed me the issues we had. He detailed how they were going to apply 3 layers and add additional protection around skylights. Price was very good among the 3 layer application quotes. They added metal flashing around the two large (~8ft * 4ft) and sealed it with silicone. Work was neat and clean. They also took care of significant # of broken tiles in my tiles roof section. The supervisor Lupe also detailed/explained all the work thoroughly, and made sure it is done correctly. Prestige Roofing did an amazing job on my new roof. I told them exactly the roofing that I wanted and they found it and made my dreams come true. My roof is beautiful and it is by far the best roof in my neighborhood. My new roof made my 1945 house look new and updated. The Prestige crew was amazing, they worked so hard and completed the project quickly. They were constantly cleaning and removing the mess of the old roof while installing the new one, they even made sure that my garden was not damaged. John the owner came by to check that everything was perfect every day. They even installed some awesome skylights that brought light into my dark hall and bathroom. After several research on line, I found out that Prestige Roofing and other company get a 5 stars review but I'm still not convinced until I met John of Prestige roofing. I decided to go ahead and sign the contract with John and did not expect he have time to work on my roof right away due to his very busy schedule, but John manage to do it for me right away. The quality of his crew's workmanship is unbelievable, they got the job done very quickly and beautifully. Got higher quotes with cheaper materials from other roofing companies. They use very good quality shingles. Also something that I value highly on any business is when they take care of the customer in case something goes wrong. There was a misunderstanding on the scheduling of my job, but they recognized, apologized and more than made up for it by giving me some extras on the work done. A home in our neighborhood was re-roofed (i.e. they replaced the roofing paper and reused the existing tiles) ) by Prestige. That owner gave a glowing report of their work. So we obtained 3 bids for the same type of re-roof, including a bid from Prestige. We found Prestige to be competitive but not the lowest bid, more like in the middle. My confidence in their professionalism in presenting a timely bid made the difference. Diligent crew. Good communication with the foreman. And a glowing recommendation from another nearby homeowner. They reused the tiles and installed the plywood decking and underlayment, and replaced rotten wood. It was during a 2week period of rain. I made my deposit and the day after the rain stopped Prestige started the work and had it all completely done in 4days! Did my research and got several quotes from various companies. The owner (Francisco) gave a very reasonable quote for the work. My flat roof was about 1200 sq ft. They replaced the entire roof in several days, replaced much of the fascia wood and primed it all (haven't decided what color paint yet). I felt that this company was honest with pricing and reasonable. So many people are taking advantage of insurance companies demanding major repairs that may or may not be needed and there are a lot of roofing companies that are overcharging for work. They were very transparent about costs, did the work quickly and professionally, cleaned up, and were kind to my family. Very thankful for their work!

The handyman "supposedly fixed" it, charging me for the repairs every time. He even went so far as to replace the roof. That cost me thousands of dollars additionally, but the leaks continued. This year, heavy rain caused water to gush onto my covered patio, frying the TV and AV system that was located there. I was away on a trip and did not see that until after my return. When I called the handyman to see the damage and make repairs, he flatly refused because I was very angry at the time I spoke to him about his shoddy work. That was pure gall and more on his part! At that stage I was desperate but fortunate to find All In One Roofing. Reggie reviewed the problem and suggested all options for repair. His team then promptly made the necessary repairs for a reasonable price. I haven't had any leaks since, and hopefully I will not have any more fried TVs and other electronic equipment. I must say that the leak, while I was overseas could have started a house fire and I was fortunate to have dodged that bullet.

The owner of the company came out right away the same day, (which we appreciated greatly) though it wasn't an emergency. The owner used a drone to send up to take close-up pictures of our cement tile roof. He showed us the pictures and then gave us 2 options to select from: 1. To just fix a smaller area around the fireplace, (close to the Solar Panel that may have attributed to the leak.) by using flashing around the fireplace and under the Solar panel bracket. (We also requested the Solar Panels be cleaned as well.) 2.. Or fix a larger area beyond the leak area by using flashing, cleaning the larger area of the roof, making sure no tiles were broken and cleaning the Solar Panels as well. The owner was nice, polite and friendly. He shared that he doesn't get out to Norco very often but he was happy because he was meeting 2 of his best friends (that lived out this way) for lunch and it gave him an opportunity to see them. The owner stated that he would "get back to us that night" with the 2 estimates for Option One and Option Two. We were happy that we had found a company that could do both Roofing Repair & Solar. We were looking forward to hearing back from the Owner, as we really needed and wanted to get this project going. Well, we were very disappointed as the owner NEVER got back to us with the estimates. David came by to inspect my leak by physically going up on my roof. He told me that he would email me the estimate next week. I waited until yesterday, 4/7/26 to reach out to David for the estimate. I texted him at 9:23 AM about when he would be sending me the estimates for either the repair or the entire roof underlayment replacement. I saw that he read my text message but he did not reply back. The next day I texted him again that I will be informing his office of my interaction with him. He texted back right away that he is out of town for training and he apologized for the late response. I told him that I will not be using his company for my repair/replacement due to his lack of care and commitment. He texted me by the name of Trina and Angela, although all he had to do was scroll up on the text messages for my name. If it's this difficult to get a hold of this company to give them money for their service, it might be impossible to get a hold of them once they have your money.
