Best Ham & Butter ever!! The same quality as in the best Parisian bakeries, and that's rare in NYC!!

The Pistachio Brest was perfect . Unlike many pistachio desserts, it didn't seem to have that artificial almond flavoring a lot of pistachio goods do. The choux and pistachio cream were beautifully balanced. I actually went back the next day hoping to get some more, but they were already sold out of the pistachio brest by 11am Since I was there, I picked up a veggie quiche, which was decent. The server was also kind enough to include a pistachio macaron on the house to make up for the sold-out brest, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the macaron did taste of that almond flavoring I dislike, so I can't quite recommend that one. read more

I work a couple blocks away and saw this place for the first time this morning. As we had loved the baguette sandwiches we had in Paris last year, I decided to try to them for lunch. I saw on their website they had the quintessential Parisian sandwich on the menu - Ham, Gruyere and butter on a baguette. First... The price at L'Ami Pierre was more than what is listed on their website. I don't like that and I am pretty sure it is illegal in NYC. Second... Must have been sitting around since early this morning as the cheese was glistening - which is what happens to Gruyere that sits out too long. Third - Virtually no butter. French butter is excellent - would have been nice on the sandwich. There was a tiny trace of butter on the corner of the baguette. Lastly - a 5 and half inch tiny sandwich for $13.34. At the office, some one asked me where I ordered a half sandwich. Overall, the sandwich was DRY! The ham itself was good, the cheese was absolute junk (and Gruyere is my favorite - we have in the house all the time) and the bread was good. I ended up adding butter I had in the office, because it was too dry to eat otherwise. read more

Stumbled upon L'Ami while looking for a coffee to go. Scored an Americano and a chocolate eclair. Coffee came out yeeouch hot, and there weren't any sleeves for the cup. i wish maison kayser went away during covid, but this is really good replacement. i stop for a jambon beurre (they just call it ham and butter) in the mornings and its great. the bread is chewy in a good way, ham is good quality and smells a little smokey, again in a good way. the turkey and brie is good too, but go by your preference of course. read more

Needed a quick breakfast and popped in here. It was packed so that was a good sign. We had the French hot dog and a lemon tart both were good. The lemon tart was indeed tart but not uncomfortably so, and the meringue on top was nice and fluffy the pastry part was light and flaky. The fresh OJ was delicious and light pulp. My matcha was good, not very sweet I could have used a sugar packet or one more pump of vanilla. The French hot dog was good and had some type of aioli and cheese on it. read more

I love a chocolate almond croissant in the morning as a little treat to myself!! This one was a little more doughy and soggy than I'd prefer. I asked the employee to warm it up for me and then she put it in a bag and it was a short walk to my job. Not sure if having it in the bag immediately after warming affected its texture. Regardless of the texture, the flavor is still really good. I love that there's lots of chocolate with every bite and the almonds on top is the perfect touch The cafe itself is very nice and clean. Expect zero service -- think blasé heroine chic with nuclear level "I don't belong here and too good for you peasants" attitude. Water is literally from the tap and you will be made to feel like the cheap bastard that you are for not buying overpriced bottled water. Then the food -- how do you screw up a simple baguette sandwich?!?! The pastries are delicious, if you love chocolate croissants I would give the twist a try you can't go wrong! The coffee is good but I wouldn't rate it in my top 3, but it wouldn't stop me to get some next time . I ordered a pain raisin and coffee through Seamless. Instead of just refunding my money or calling to ask what I would like as a substitute he sends a dry pain au chocolat. I didn't want that and when I called to rectify this Pierre who doesn't identity himself just says that's what he always substitutes it with. He said he would refund my money and he didn't. Fortunately when I called Seamless they gave me my refund. They were trying to call him to approve it, but he didn't answer but they refunded me anyway. I don't eat chocolate and even so it's the arrogance of him deciding for me because he didn't want to refund me or take the time to ask if I would like something else. Plus the coffees are more expensive than Starbucks and half the size. Due to the poor customer service I will never patronize. If you are using a food app, and distance doesn't matter Eclair is better. read more

3.5 stars. L'ami Pierre serves tasty fare, but it's pretty pricey considering this is more of a fast casual place. I stopped in for lunch, mainly wanting to try the Le Pierre sandwich (ham and butter in a baguette), and it was a simple and tasty bite that was steep at $11. The perfectly baked baguette was the star. The ham was fine I suppose, but not notable, and I couldn't really taste any butter... kind of blasphemous for a French spot. I enjoyed the three-cheese quiche much more. Since I dined in, the employee warmed it up for me. The crust was buttery and delicious, and the filling was so eggy, cheesy, and satisfying. The mushroom soup was also great, very hearty and flavorful. Both were on the heavier side, which made it easy to save them for a separate meal. read more

Ah, breakfast! This place confused me, but my wife had it figured out. You walk in, pick what you want from the display case. If they need to heat it, they heat it (like our quiche). If they don't, they hand it to you, go find a seat and enjoy. Counter service is prompt and polite. Lots of eye candy around the restaurant, plants, trees, and other neat to look at things while you nosh down on breakfast. I also grabbed a yogurt parfait and a Raspberry Tart, both of which were quite enjoyable. I also grabbed a banana, which was fresh. Lots of good food to select from, and it just worked nicely. Wow! An amazing place that needs to be recognized. Just came from Paris a few weeks ago (for the first time) and this place reminds me of our wonderful time. The jambon-beurre (ham + butter) with the croissoint is amazing! Perfectly crunchy outside with fresh soft bread on the inside. Although I'm not a big sandwhich person, you definitely should give this one a try! Also the pan au chocolate reminded me of Paris - wonderfully flakey, buttery, and just thr right amount of sweet. What a gem of a bakery tucked away in midtown. From the sleek interior design to the high quality pastries, I was instantly in love. The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I came here in the late afternoon on NYE and were glad everything wasn't completely sold out yet. I would recommend coming here earlier in the day for a wider selection. We got the chocolate & almond croissant, crème brûlée madeleine and an apple turnover. Everything was absolutely decadent with well balanced flavors and sweetness paired with impeccable textures. My favorite was the madeleine but I'll be coming back for everything soon enough. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return! read more

4/5 lemon meringue tart! The meringue is sooo creamy and not too sweet! Wish they charred the top more for the smoky s'more flavor. The perfect balance of fluffy meringue on a bed of lemon curd, with a nice flaky crunchy buttery crust. I had to heal my tongue from the bad lemon meringue I had over the weekend . Sadly packaging doesn't match with their own product - the beautiful poof gets smooshed inside the box. Also no baggy to go, so it was a bit inconvenient to carry on a rainy day with an umbrella in one hand. read more

I am in love with the Jambon Buerre at L'Ami Pierre. Each bite of this fragrant ham sandwich instantly transported me to Paris. This is not a regular ham sandwich typically sold here The ham is Jambon de Paris which apparently is difficult to find. The butter is French. The baguette is tender and chewy. I have eaten this twice and each time I was in heaven. I could easily have this twice a month. At $10.89 it is a tad expensive but worth every bite. Thank you Chef Eric Ripert for creating this gem with Pierre-Antoine Raberin. Located on West 51 Street, this is a casual cafe with coffees, teas and soft drinks. A variety of viennoiseries and colorful macarons are tempting. Soups and sandwiches are also available. A variety of French edibles - cookies, yogurts, bottled sodas, tinned soups, caramels and chocolate bars are also sold. My favorite La Fermiere yogurts are also sold here. The service here is friendly and kind. Two clean restrooms, one with a code and the other without is also located here. Highly recommended. read more

I came here hoping to get a good quiche like the ones I used to get when I was living in France. Instead I had a quiche that was apparently good but, although I asked for it to be ward, was still pretty cold inside. Tasty but not amazing. Pretty expensive too, but not surprising, seeing the location. It can be a pretty nice place if you're working in offices or corporate and look for a healthy lunch. This place is truly special! The space feels warm. Everyone is so friendly, you forget you're in NYC for a moment. The pastries on display are magnificent to look at, and even better to eat! The croissant was flaky, soft, and delicious. Their ham sandwiches are divine. Each bite melts in your mouth. I found myself wishing I had more! In town for a day. Croissant and a double espresso. Place was packed it was 1230pm on a Tuesday. This part of town used to be my stomping grounds as I worked within a few blocks at different points on my work life. This place was not here back in the day. Mes amies, this is an uncommonly pleasant and civilized cafe, and very much worth visiting even if (like me) you don't eat pork and therefore won't be trying the highly hyped ham sandwich. You enter from a wide sidewalk (widewalk?) and then, even if there are lots of people in line to your left, and lots of people in the seating area to your right, there's a big open space in the middle of the cafe. This is important partly just to make the vibes more mellow but also for practical reasons, because the middle is where you'll find a wall of genuinely intriguing artisanal eats, and you're going to want some time to peruse the offerings without a chaotic crowd all around you. What you'll find is a thoughtfully curated assortment of real-deal, made-in-France, rarely-seen-in-America sweets from producers that actually use real butter and have not (yet) been acquired by Unilever. There are heavenly lavender cookies. There are divine little doughnuts ("nonnettes") filled with bitter orange marmalade. There are also savory snacks, should you be in the mood for a tin of mackerel or a petite jar of aubergine "caviar." Remarkably, the prices in this grocery section are merely high, not egregious. And when you make your way over to the front counter, where the pastries and coffee can be found, the prices are utterly normal. What is not normal, however, is the friendliness at the counter. The staff actually smiles and makes small talk. Inexplicably, they bestowed two free (and excellent) macarons upon me. I know! Sacré bleu! Great French cafe in midtown to stop by for coffee or a quick bite! They have a great selection of pastries -- would definitely recommend their madeleines! I went to this cafe today for lunch to pick up a quick over the counter sandwich. I have been here before as the food is delicious, but the service is a hit or miss. Today is a miss as it was quite busy with many people waiting in line to be served. There are basically 2 lines with 2 or 3 registers open. The setup is not optimal as one line could take much longer than the other, since the cashier just randomly asked for whoever is next without knowing who's been waiting the longest, and sometimes people who just got on the line could just jump ahead if the free cashier is right in front of them. Then there's a runner who does sandwich preparation who can become the cashier at a moment's notice, adding to the confusion. I was waiting on one line while some people on the other line who just joined was served right away, while another customer and I were waiting longer than necessary. So either they need to employ the most efficient 1 line only rule, or if logistically not possible, to employ multiple lines but the cashier only serves customers in his or her line. This will provide a fair first come first served standard for all customers. read more
