We've been using Preventive for many years now for regular pest control and they handled our termite tenting as well. We recently started with their new Mosquito service in an effort to rid ourselves of the nasty ankle biting Aedes mosquitos that have become such a problem in the area. I was skeptical anything would really help with these pests but the technician showed me the larvae that was trapped in the device after one month and thankfully it appears to be working. I've recommended it to family members and we've even extended our service for an extra month past the original service period to be sure we eliminate as many of these nasty mosquitos as possible. When you are getting service ask if John Mejia is available. He is friendly, knowledgeable and VERY thorough. Our landlord provides this service and John is the first to really check on all the traps. He found the vines in back garden growing through the large trap which no one else who came took care of. I've been reading some of these reviews, and now i wish read them before I signed up for a contract. Because the issues people have had, is what i experienced. First, their service doesnt work. i still had bugs, after every service, 1, 2, 3 days a week later still bugs... literallly, right where they sprayed. No dead carcass's. I've had other companies service my house before, and there were always carcasss after they came. We ended up getting product from home depot that had instance results. YOu're better off to do it yourself, or hire a friend to do. I only stuck with the contract to avoid getting penalized. They said they couldnt spray up, which doesnt make sense because there's always bugs around the roof outside. Other companies will spray up. I called to cancel. I explained to two different people that i wanted to cancel. They were nice, and I thought it was taken care of, then two months later, I get a bill on my door saying they serviced my house. This was very shady, as I had already canceled. When I called them to fight it, they said they never got my cancellation and that i still needed to pay. It's unreal. She assured me that she would cancel this time, however, i'm nervous they'll pull the same shady trick, and come out again. Do not use this company.... despite the shady cancellation stuff, their sprays DO NOT work. read more

I have been using Preventative Pest control for some time now. Their prices are good and their treatments seem to keep the bugs away. We do outside, garage, interior atrium and balcony. I actually prefer seeing the same technician come to the property, but one cannot always get what one wants. I would have to say that I've specified a 10-15 minute heads up call, and the technicians have been mostly good about that. Today we had someone new to the property whom is also new to the company, i.e., John. He gave me the heads up call and showed right on time. He was respectful and courteous. He did a good job. His name is Rico, he was very polite, showed up on time and all pest related issues were resolved, including cob webs without us asking him to do his job! Had this company for 5 years. Asked the tech to remove spider webs from entry way ceiling and you'd thought I asked him to paint my house! He grumbled & complained the whole 2 minutes it took. Then he stopped service. Tried calling, but the number (on my statement) doesn't work, says no longer in service. Tried emailing the account manager...6 weeks, still no response. Not sure what happened to this once consistent company, but I have changed and will never go back. read more

We bought a yearly package from them. They send a teenager on their own schedule without asking you to spray around your house. They call in to cancel the last minute after you make arrange with your work. They lie and argue with you. After 8 months with them we have a rat infestation now. Beware! I have been on contract with them (cancelled the contract) as they NEVER controlled the pests. I would call them back out in between sprays and still no dead bugs. I went in between sprays and sprayed ourselves. To realize that we kill the bugs better than the professional service is sad. Then when I call to cancel and ask for the final bill. It takes them (2) months to send it and they are trying to add late fee charges!! Not OK. They tried to tell me their chemicals work in a day or two is not good. People want to immediately see rows of ants dead and gone. Not in a day or two. read more

I had this service for the past 9 months and they were supposed to treat ants and spiders and de- web the exterior. Every time they came, I was not home and it didnt look like anything was de-webbed and we continued to have spiders and ants inside and out. Used them for about a year and didn't renew. They are scheduled every quarter but we always have to call back in between. They don't charge for those, but it's inconvenient. On our last service, the guy stayed 10 minutes (clean and spray) and he indicated he was here 20 minutes. read more

I switched to Preventive Pest Control after having been with a different pest control company for a year. John Mejia came to our home for the initial service wearing a mask (bonus points) and explained the procedure. He helped us plan and advised to start off by spraying the interior and then move outside. I had been hoping for a product that allowed us to remain inside after the home was serviced. The smell was not at all bad and within 15 min the product was dry. John also explained how the mosquito trap we ordered worked and helped us identify a place to keep it so that it would last longer. Two days later and I have already started seeing the results for some of the pests. We have encountered a number of dead spiders around our house (better than finding them in our kids room!). Looking forward to having John return to help us with an Indian meal moth issue we have been having in our kitchen. read more
