I hadn't been to this diner since I was a teen and now I regret not being a regular. I went for a busy week day lunch and the service was excellent and the food was fabulous. Our server shared all the daily lunch specials and listed the sides and soups of the day. I had the Kingranch chicken special with mash & corn. This lunch special included soup or salad and dessert of peach cobbler! All was delicious! The portions were awesome and I found all this food for the lunch special a bargain for around $8.95. I will definitely be back! If your ready to feel your viens shrink your in the right place because Prices Chef is heart attack zone went there a few times and honeslty the food was great just grease I had more grease on me then a 1960's Itailian. Great service and a friendly environment with good prices for good food. I had Price's breakfast which had Ham, sausage, bacon, with two eggs and toast as well as a very good sized pancake. Had my first meal here today at 1:00... Neat old diner with friendly people but not good food. I ordered the king ranch chicken, and it was a bunch of process melted cheese with a few chunks of chicks and maybe some tortillas in there. A real cheesy mess..... The green beans ok, but the mashed potatoes were artificial. the best part was the dinner rolls. Hubby got the country fried steak, and after verifying with my own taste, it had no flavor whatsoever. No seasoning in the breading at all! Totally tasteless. This could be a great hangout place, and some people obviously like it for that, including the CCPD, but the food is not good. read more

If you visit Corpus Christi, or live there, a restaurant I highly recommend is Prices Chef at Six Points, where Alameda, Aryes, Staples all converge. This place has been around for 40 years, and I used to walk over there and eat when I lived at Staples & Naples in 1970s. Great decor, but the food is tandout, daily lunch specials, super burgers and salads also. Recently when we made quickie trip down there I took Paige & boys to eat there, all were 'why haven't you brought us here before?' So will be a place I will take them from now on when visiting my hometown. *Note they close at 3:00pm!! read more

Simple home-cooked food made with excellent ingredients. The family that owns Prices is incredibly friendly and welcoming. This is one of the only places open on Sunday, so that's a bonus. Get here early to avoid the rush but well worth the wait. The Sunday turkey dinner is awesome. On any given Sunday morning, you can find past mayors and congressmen dining here. A real political scene. The photos of the customers on the wall is a real hoot. We use to go here all the time before "Covid" way of life started. And let me tell you we enjoyed it every time we dined here. I've heard of restaurants losing their mojo sort of speak with everything going on during the pandemic and I hadn't experienced that until today. I don't complain about the wait as this place always had a wait regardless, but once we sat down our server seemed very flustered and overwhelmed. We sat down and waited for menus as no one informed us to scanned it on our phones. Once we did we saw the menu had changed a bit but still saw some of our favorites. Our ordered consisted of a Clubhouse Sandwich, Prices Omelette, a bowl of Chili and a Chefs Salad. Clubhouse sandwich was supposed to be Texas toast and got regular toast with the ingredients being skimmed to none as if they're limiting the food. The omelet was a poor excuse of a crepe thin egg thrown on top of the ingredients on a metal skillet to what I must ask "why not a plate?". We didn't get our toast with our omelet as well. The Chefs Salad was tasty from what my mother told me. She added Chicken which cost more than 1/2 the salad price (no biggie she enjoyed it lol). The chili was decent, and the onions rings that came with the Clubhouse were really good! Idk if they changed cooks, personnel, or operating procedures but this wasn't the Prices Chef I remembered enjoying. I hope it was just this one fluke... read more

It's a good thing this place isn't in my neighborhood I would would weigh 400 pounds on my recent trip to the Coast this neighborhood Diner was recommended by the Airbnb people we stayed with. It was so good we ate there twice a day our whole trip. After the first meal our waitress knew I wanted water without ice my partner wanted ice and lemon and that I was nuts for crackers. I love a good old-fashioned, "greasy-spoon" cafe and Price's Chef fits the bill perfectly. I eat breakfast (sometimes lunch) here with my husband at least 3 or 4 times a week. As Jack said, the owners are fabulous...friendly, accommodating, and just good people. For breakfast the classic special is a value. At lunch, try one of their sandwiches on homemade bread. YUM! Best CFS ever! Always wanted to stop here while shopping in Corpus and today I did. I ate at the counter and every dish that passed looked great - almost got the chicken and dumplings which were a "special" since they looked like my Mothers. Now I can't wait to return to try the eggs benedict as they serve breakfast all day. Real diner look outside and in and the staff were all friendly including the cook who gave me a bowl of gravy.
