What a fun place to stop for breakfast/lunch in downtown Corpus! It's a little shabby on the outside but don't let that stop you from going in to eat. It has been around since the 1940s and I can see why! The food was delicious. I went with a Reuben with onion rings while my boyfriend got the patty melt. We weren't feeling breakfast but another in our party let us try their pancakes and they were so delicious! Very fluffy but super filling. My Reuben was delicious. It came out a little slower than the rest of the meals for some reason but the wait was worth it! It was over done with too much sauce and was just greasy enough. The onion rings were okay but they needed a little extra kick of flavor. The decorations were nothing special but it was cool to see a wall dedicated to their loyal customers. This place is AMAZING. We were just visiting Corpus Christi this weekend and decided to pop in for breakfast.. every morning we were there. The service was incredible, it had such an amazing feel and vibe to it. They've been open for 80 years! Not only was the staff extremely friendly, the other guests there were so nice too. I had a simple breakfast cause I'm a plain Jane, and the fiancé had a Western Omelette. These were the best hash browns i have ever had in my life, no exaggerations. The omelette was fluffy, the bacon on my plate was thick, and cooked to perfection. The chef brought us out a pancake with cooked bananas on top... oh my goodness. It was so delicious! And he was SO nice. The second time we went in it was packed for Easter Sunday so we took some omelettes to go to enjoy on the beach before heading back to San Antonio. Even to go the food was amazing. Alex and his mom really made us feel welcome with incredible service and food. If we are ever in Texas again we will definitely make the drive to come back here. The bread pudding is to die for! It is homemade everyday from scratch and rivals that of my grandmothers! The service at Prices Chef was immaculate, they really make you feel like your back home. I hadn't been to this diner since I was a teen and now I regret not being a regular. I went for a busy week day lunch and the service was excellent and the food was fabulous. Our server shared all the daily lunch specials and listed the sides and soups of the day. I had the Kingranch chicken special with mash & corn. This lunch special included soup or salad and dessert of peach cobbler! All was delicious! The portions were awesome and I found all this food for the lunch special a bargain for around $8.95. I will definitely be back! Had my first meal here today at 1:00... Neat old diner with friendly people but not good food. I ordered the king ranch chicken, and it was a bunch of process melted cheese with a few chunks of chicks and maybe some tortillas in there. A real cheesy mess..... The green beans ok, but the mashed potatoes were artificial. the best part was the dinner rolls. Hubby got the country fried steak, and after verifying with my own taste, it had no flavor whatsoever. No seasoning in the breading at all! Totally tasteless. This could be a great hangout place, and some people obviously like it for that, including the CCPD, but the food is not good. read more

If you visit Corpus Christi, or live there, a restaurant I highly recommend is Prices Chef at Six Points, where Alameda, Aryes, Staples all converge. This place has been around for 40 years, and I used to walk over there and eat when I lived at Staples & Naples in 1970s. Great decor, but the food is tandout, daily lunch specials, super burgers and salads also. Recently when we made quickie trip down there I took Paige & boys to eat there, all were 'why haven't you brought us here before?' Simple home-cooked food made with excellent ingredients. The family that owns Prices is incredibly friendly and welcoming. This is one of the only places open on Sunday, so that's a bonus. Get here early to avoid the rush but well worth the wait. The Sunday turkey dinner is awesome. On any given Sunday morning, you can find past mayors and congressmen dining here. A real political scene. The photos of the customers on the wall is a real hoot. It's a good thing this place isn't in my neighborhood I would would weigh 400 pounds on my recent trip to the Coast this neighborhood Diner was recommended by the Airbnb people we stayed with. It was so good we ate there twice a day our whole trip. After the first meal our waitress knew I wanted water without ice my partner wanted ice and lemon and that I was nuts for crackers. This kind of service in Dallas Texas would bring people all the way across town the food was always fresh tasty prompt and served with a smile. I can't Rave enough.
