Bummed that the shabu hot pot concept came & went, but they seem to be onto a good thing with their new sushi & hibachi menu (a la carte or AYCE). We came here as a family on a Sunday after church. It was quite busy during lunch, but our waiter (Dan B.) was super gracious & attentive. The manger also stopped by our table to check on us (and gave us a postcard to checkout their other business - Tokyouth Arcade). Welcoming & friendly staff. We did the "standard" AYCE, which is about $40 per person (kids 4 and under are free). There's also a premium AYCE upgrade (for $20/pp more), but we didn't want to go in over heads on the first visit. Everything we ordered was phenomenal! Soups, appetizers, grilled items, and sushi - - they don't skimp on quality & freshness. Wonderful first impression. *My biggest recommendation: Don't sleep on the ramen!!! Wow! This was one of those rare moments where phone did not eat first. I was so eager to dig in that I completely forgot to capture the amazing spread that arrived at our table. There's a separate menu page dedicated to their new broth selections including Tom Yum, Golden Chicken, Spicy Miso and so much more. They've also introduced new hot items such as Soup Dumplings, Hargau, Siu Mai, and Tempura. These small bites were perfect palate changer between rounds of hot pot. The cuts of meat for hot pot were incredibly tender and the wagyu offered was beautifully marbled. Although each slice was generously cut, they were easy to split and share with the table. One of the highlights was the self-served shaved ice machine, a refreshing and sweet treat to perfectly end the meal. Prime Beef Shabu is currently one of my favorite places to get Hot Pot. We did a last minute switch to hot pot for Mother's Day. We decided to try a new place hoping the wait wouldn't be extremely long. They do take reservations which is a plus. We checked in and were told the wait without a reservation for 4 would be 20 minutes but they actually seated us in about 5. Seating capacity is 98. They took our order quickly and the meats came out fast. Just in case, there are items that cost extra like the wagyu. I had the house spicy broth. I thought it was pretty good and not too spicy for me but the wife was choking with the spiciness. We normally get 3 rounds of meat at kpot but we only went through 1 round here because the serving portions are larger. I was asked about or inquire about the "member price" shown on the menu. I was so excited to finally have one of these in the area - Authetic AYCE hotpot. Honestly, it was such a great experience. I went with the House Special Spicy Broth, medium spicy, as per server recommendation, and it was delicious. It was spicy (but not overpowering) and full of flavor - reminiscent of Szechuan. The menu also has plenty of offerings. All kinds of meat and seafood that come in perfect serving sizes. The beef looked and tasted amazing; same goes for the seafood. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. The food also comes out pretty fast, so you don't have to worry about waiting around. As for the bar, there are veggies, appetizers, and sides on the right, and the sauce bar and fruit on the left. They've got a really great selection to choose from on both sides. I'd highly recommend trying the curry beef, and adding Szechuan oil to your sauce or hot pot if you like an extra kick. Pro tip: If you want spicy broth, you can order any broth, get Thai chili peppers from the sauce bar, and add the pepper directly into the broth to your taste. The restaurant offers great value: Lunch is $21 and Dinner is $32. Lunch is Mon-Fri 11a-3p and weekends are all day dinner (pretty standard). It's also a plus that the hot pot setup has built-in fans. In restaurants where you have to cook your own food, you run the risk of leaving smelling like food. However, the stove pulls in the steam and fumes wafting from the pot, so you don't have to worry about that. Overall, great experience, great food, fast service. Newly opened, we decided to stop in on a Monday night without a reservation and had no issues being sat. Pretty straightforward, most things can be ordered at the table and there are a handful of items next to the sauce bar. Took some time to be greeted but the server was friendly and helpful in explaining how the menu worked. You pick your broth and then can order off the menu and they'll bring things out to the table. The broths were good, I went with the Original Bone Soup. We only opted for the individual broths. They definitely were generous with their portions for our table of four and everything came out quickly. While I don't recall everything we ordered (as we ordered quite a bit), I do recommend getting the Japanese 15 Waygu Beef Ribeye. Just a quick cook in the broth and it was tender and delicious. We did get the soup dumplings which were just okay in my opinion. The Curry Beef at the sauce bar was really good, they also had rice and fried rice up there. They didn't at the time have any alcoholic beverages since they don't have their ABC license yet but I imagine that will be available in a couple weeks. read more

Visited the other night for dinner and am so excited for family who now has a legit shabu hot spot place so close by! Our server Nana was kind and patient to explain how the process works for the rest of the family and was so quick at clearing the plates off our table/side cart so we never had any stacks of empty dishes which was appreciated. Meat quality/variety was perfect. No overly fatty beef slices and all veggies in the self serve bar as well as the ones you have to directly order from the server were all fresh. The way the seating is set up does make the dining experience a bit difficult, especially if you're not used to shabu spots but they don't rush you so there's that. Would 100% come back and recommend to anyone looking to venture out or in the mood for some tasty soup & meats! Typically these spots only have vanilla soft serve or sesame balls for dessert but Prime Shabu has not only 4 different types of ice cream but a taro shaved ice machine as well which was refreshing and such a nice changeup from the usual! read more

I visit this restaurant one weeknight and there were only a handful of customers. Although I have limited experience with shabu, it's still a pretty simple concept. This is AYCE, there is no other option. Their menu is fairly straight forward. The small white menu is their drink menu, one side for alcoholic drinks and the other side for non-alcoholic. You will see a large selection of bubble teas on the non-alcoholic side. Their large black menu contains the AYCE food choices, and most items have no prices, which means it comes with the AYCE. Anything with a price means it is extra. My initial reaction when I saw this name pop up as a new restaurant a few months ago is wow, a place serving all prime beef? That sounds awesome. However, after eating here, and based on the menu, there is no actual indication that any of the beef is actually prime. It's just in the name of the restaurant only. Most AYCE places have certain rules, and they are no exception. You are allotted 1.5 hrs for lunch and 2 hrs for dinner to complete your experience. I tried the house special spicy medium, as recommended by a few other yelpers. Then, I picked a few items from each section of the menu, then visited the sauce bar to make my custom sauce. Like most places, they have recommendations on the wall, depending on the type of broth you chose. Next to the sauce bar are the hot items, soups, steamed rice and veggie bar. I grabbed a couple items from each section but was not thrilled about most of the hot items. The curry beef (soup) was interesting but got old and got cold quickly. Luckily, I ended up making a really good dipping sauce by adding a few additional ingredients to the recommended recipe on the wall. When the broth comes out, hopefully you picked a good one, because if you don't like it, or decide you want a different one halfway through your meal, they are likely to say no. I ended up liking my broth quite a bit initially, but then as the broth evaporates and gets used, they bring out more "broth" to pour in your pot, and it essentially dilutes the flavor. The "broth" they're bringing out for refills seems more like salted water that is only slightly cloudy and looks nothing like what you order in your pot. For some broths, like the mushroom, when they bring your refill, it looks like they're pouring straight tap water into your pot. I know they aren't, but it looks very clear. The more additional "broth" they add, the more the pot becomes diluted, and you end up with a bland broth by the end of your meal, so try to strain as much as possible and keep the heat under control to minimize evaporation. I tried the crystal beef, which is just a raw egg on top of sliced ribeye and wasn't impressed. The waiter indicated the egg crystalizes, but I did not see any crystallization occurring whatsoever. The other beefs are pretty standard. I also chose pork belly. All in all, I had several trays of proteins and was overwhelmed by the amount. The waiter indicates each portion came with 4 slices, so I was thinking 4 thin small slices, but in reality, it's between 5-12 large slices per tray when they bring it out. The waiter even tried to get me to order more, like double my portion, thank God I just stuck with my gut, otherwise I would have surely had way too much and couldn't even eat it. My waiter came back at least 15 times to ask if I wanted to order more, and I told him no all 15 times. The back of the menu has the proteins which you can add to your meal at a cost, the best looking one was probably the A5 Japanese wagyu for an additional $20. I was already full and did not end up adding this one. Maybe next time. The best part of the meal for me was maybe the end. They supposedly have 3 or 4 desserts, but some were "out" and the waiter indicated they only had 2 that night, scoops of ice cream and their taro shaved iced cream. Get both. The taro is fun and really good. Just be careful turning on and off the machine, as I found out, it did not turn off immediately when you press the off button, it keeps going and going and if you're already have a mountain of shaved ice cream, you will likely overflow like me while waiting on the machine to actually turn off. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place one star is because the service was decent-- everything else was a major letdown. We dined here at 9pm on a Monday, and it was clear the staff wasn't thrilled to have customers in the final hour. They were out of nearly everything we tried to order -- no sliced beef, no Japanese wagyu. For the price they're charging for an all-you-can-eat Shabu Shabu experience, even the basics were seriously lacking. The buffet vegetable bar looked like it hadn't been restocked since the morning. The meat quality was poor, and the vegetable options were disappointing. I ordered king mushrooms and got six paper-thin slivers from the ends of a mushroom. The enoki mushrooms weren't even fresh. I honestly gave up and stopped ordering altogether. We also ordered two appetizers -- cheese shrimp balls and steamed soup dumplings -- and were charged $4.95 each. Both were terrible. I can't believe they charged extra for these items on top of their already steep price. To make things worse, even though the restaurant supposedly closes at 10pm, the kitchen was shut down at 9:30pm. Our server made the "last call" at exactly 9:28pm. They even started breaking down the buffet and dessert area at that time. How is it "all you can eat" if you're not actually allowed to eat past a certain point -- even though you're still open? Completely ridiculous. This place was a ripoff, plain and simple. I won't be back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Save your money and drive down to Bellerive for a real hot pot experience. read more

A solid choice to bring friends out for some exotic food (frog legs, fish balls, exotic forest mushroom...) as well as staples (sliced beef, prime rib, pork,...) to enjoy in a boiling pot for each person. If you've never had Shabu Shabu, this place will take care of you. read more

They have a mixture of tables, some for individual pots and some for sharing. The food is very enjoyable. They do have a membership that has an annual fee but it will save you money with each trip. I was so excited to hear of an AYCE in The Woodlands. I went and tried it with my friend and brother and I have to say I was really impressed. Their bar area and the free appetizers stood out the most to me. They had free beef curry of all things! And tempura cooked to order. Their hot pot menu items were also very diverse and I was pleased to see that they even had winter melon which I can't recall if I've seen at other AYCE's. The waiter was very nice and got our items out within a minute or two. The ambience is also very cute and I noticed in the back they had a private room for large parties. They have several options for the soup base however it is really bland. I couldn't taste it and the difference. The meat is good but if you want the prime cut you need to pay extra.
