Bull & Bourbon is nice elegant steakhouse located inside Sycuan Casino. The decorations, tableware, and service all let you know that this is a fine-dining establishment. I came in on a Sunday to try the $35 slow roast prime rib special. It comes with a 12 oz prime rib, roasted mushrooms, mashed potatoes, maple carmelized brussel sprouts (I don't like brussel sprouts so I let them keep those), and garlic parmesan bread balls. The service was great. The steak was cooked perfect. All of the food was really good. It was a bargain for $35. They also actually give you a sharp knife that can cut a steak unlike some steak restaurants. I will definitely be going back. Next time I'm trying the B&B chocolate cake that I spotted on the dessert menu. read more

My husband and I have been dining at Bull & Bourbon for years and, until now, have always had wonderful experiences. That is why this review is so disappointing. On May 28, 2026, my husband ordered his usual meal, and I ordered the salmon special, which I had enjoyed on previous visits. The meal itself seemed perfectly fine. However, approximately five to six hours after returning home, I woke up violently ill. Earlier that day, the only other thing I had consumed was a protein shake, making it clear the illness was related to my dinner. My symptoms were severe enough that I contacted my doctor that night, who confirmed that my symptoms were consistent with food poisoning and advised me to report the incident to the restaurant immediately. The following morning, May 29, I contacted Bull & Bourbon to report what had happened. About a week later, the manager, whom we have met on several occasions over the years, called to gather additional details. He explained that the information would be forwarded to a third-party company for investigation. It is now nearly the end of July, and I have not received a single follow-up phone call, email, or update. While I understand that investigations can take time, the complete lack of communication has been far more disappointing than the incident itself. As long-time customers, we expected at least the courtesy of an update or acknowledgment. Customer service is measured not only by how a business performs when everything goes right, but by how it responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, we no longer feel valued as customers and have chosen to take our business elsewhere. Since then, we've enjoyed outstanding meals and excellent service at The Grove at Viejas and The Steakhouse at Jamul Casino. Sycuan is a go to for my wife and I. We love the casino, hotel and pool. Finally tried Bull and Bourbon. What a pleasant meal. My wife tried a few small sides and appetizers and I had the ribeye. Her shrimp cocktail and twice baked potato were excellent. I usually have a medium rare steak but ordered it medium this time. It was perfect !! Very beautiful cut of meat. And of course the flight of my wife's favorite Glenlivet. The staff was very accommodating and attentive but not overly. The only thing I would have changed was my choice of seating and I very much could have asked and didn't. I sat too near the entrance and server station. The quality of the food is consistently exceptional, and the atmosphere makes this one of our favorite places to enjoy an evening. But what truly keeps us coming back are the people. I want to recognize three Bull & Bourbon superstars in particular: Cynthia, Jeffrey and Emily. These three are exceptional. No matter how busy the restaurant gets, they work incredibly hard to take care of everyone with speed, courtesy and efficiency--while somehow never making you feel rushed. They are warm, attentive and genuinely friendly. Over time, they've gone from simply being people who provide us with great service to people we genuinely look forward to seeing. They remember us, welcome us with a smile and always make us feel like family. Great restaurants can serve an excellent steak. What separates the truly special ones is having people who create an experience that makes you want to come back again and again. Cynthia, Jeffrey and Emily do exactly that. I recently dined at Bull & Bourbon and had a really great experience overall. I started with the bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer, which was absolutely delicious -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the Delmonico ribeye cooked medium well with a side of potato soup. The steak was cooked just right, though I do think it could have used a little more salt to really bring out the flavor. I also tried a drink called "Friends with Benefits," and it did not disappoint. My server, Israel, provided excellent service. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience. This restaurant is located in the Sycuan Casino. A bit off the main casino floor, it is on the lower level. Very nice location within the casino and it felt like a hidden gem. There are other restaurants within the space but we decided to make a reservation here before our show. We were one of the first customers as soon as they opened for dinner so it was a tad empty and it felt a bit lonely. Nevertheless, as time went on, it started to fill up and for good reason. Service was really nice and personable. They offer aged steaks and seafood. Prices are average, nothing too exorbitant. Nice presentation and flavor. That night, they had live music in the front area of the restaurant. The singer was very good and played cover versions of popular and groovy songs. We celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary with dinner at Bull & Bourbon during our two-night stay at The Sycuan Casino Resort. Dinner was great, service from Cynthia was outstanding (see below), but... Our only disappointment was that no mention was made of our anniversary. Also, I made mention of it to the manager of Bull & Bourbon in a subsequent follow-up phone call. I really thought that Becky would have loved something like that. 10 years is a pretty big milestone. We booked a 5:30 reservation for seating at the bar through. We walked in and were immediately greeted and were told we could choose any seats at the bar. We sat and were greeted by our lovely bartender Cynthia. She was really friendly and a really fun bartender. We ordered drinks, a spicy margarita for Becky and a pint of Modelo for me. Becky said that Cynthia made an excellent spicy marg. For dinner we each chose the Thursday Surf & Turf three-course special. ($55) Soup or salad, steak and lobster, and chocolate cake for dessert. I ordered the soup and my steak rare. Bex had salad and medium steak. Bread service was first. Fresh, hot bread with butter and their signature Bourbon Butter. The bourbon butter is to die for! Shortly thereafter the soup and salad arrived. Fresh crisp salad with a great house made dressing. The Bull & Bourbon potato soup remains my all-time favorite. It is more cheesy potato puree topped with bacon than soup. Next were our entrees. Two petite filets cooked perfectly to our requested temps alongside small lobster tails, some roasted baby carrots and mashed potatoes. Drawn butter was on the side. For $55, this meal is a steal. Not a huge steak, nor a giant Maine lobster, but still, plenty of food and expertly cooked. Last was the cake. They were small cylinders of layered chocolate cake. Neither of us eat many sweets, but we did sample one at the table and took one to go. It was very good. Very rich and chocolaty. Great dinner, great service. The main course was with a small steak, large lobster tail, mashed potatoes, and grilled carrots. The third course was a delicious chocolate cake. It's located down the escalator from the main casino floor next to the pool and has a classy but old school steakhouse feel with deep mahogany and mood lighting. Definitely couldn't pass this up so came on a Wednesday to get me some steak & lobster! My first course of salad with vinaigrette was actually very good especially since I'm not a huge salad person. The second course was the New York steak and lobster tail. The steak was done to just to my liking, however thought the lobster was slightly overcooked. The sides of mashed potatoes and carrots went well with the meal. The last course was the layered chocolate cake - amazing, so moist and had a little crunch. I must also mention the drinks here. A great variety of you guessed it, bourbon m, as well as other spirits, beer, wine and cocktails. This occasion I selected the Marine Layer with coconut cream and mezcal and the Oaxaca old fashioned with mole reductions. Conclusions - amazing. You can never go wrong with a filet mignon! I had it medium-well and it was still tender. You can taste the quality of the meat. It came with a half of a roasted garlic. Was this decoration? Was this for spreading? Was I to eat it? I ended up picking at it and it was tasty. Tasted better when spread on bread. HIGHLY RECOMMEND SALAD - the meal was served with a side salad or soup. It was a refreshing and beautiful salad with some mix greens but the arugula was bold in the mix. The dressing perfectly coated the salad. OYSTER BAY SAUVIGNON BLANC ($15/glass) - yes red wine pairs better with steak. But I really enjoy a good dry white wine with any meal. And the sauce was lacking. I've have other crab cakes where I fight the wife for the last bite. This trip was solo and I was looking at the second crab cake like "should I leave it or force it down?" 3 stars and that's being generous I decided to go for the $116 steak and lobster. Lobster was HUGE but not fresh. Maybe Australian Rock Lobster? It didn't say and it was a bit chewy and tough. I did show up an hour before closing so maybe that's why it sucked but that's not an excuse. The melted butter tasted like fake butter. I might as well have dipped it in Mobile 1 10w-30. Lobster gets a 1.5 star The steak was decent, but like Chilis Bar & Grill Decent. I would have taken a steak from Cheesecake Factory over this one. 3 stars just because it was paired with a lobster that set the bar so low. Over all my bill (I ate alone) was $147 and after tip came out to $180. This is one of the few times I feel like I got robbed. The waitress comes back and says "you want a to go box for the rest of the lobster?" And I wanted to tell her "nah, throw that shit in the trash!" But I just said "no thank you". If a customer leaves half the lobster tail and some meat behind, you gotta assume it wasn't that good. We ate here twice in one weekend while staying at Sycuan Casino & Resort. I highly recommend sitting at the bar. Cocktails were beautifully prepared and delicious and we ate dinner at the bar on our first visit as well. The steaks were fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. The creamed spinach was insane and we actually made friends with the couple next to us just discussing how delicious it was! We also had a gorgeous beet salad, grilled mushrooms and Mac n cheese. It was all epic. I drank lovely well priced wine the on our second visit. It's great to get a fantastic red at a good price point for a restaurant. The baked potatoes are huge and wonderful too. We ordered our drinks which took a good 20 minutes to get and they were pretty simple - a Vodka tonic with lime tall and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The restaurant was not busy. My wife said she had brown lettuce and the lettuce wasn't cold and crisp - disappointing. When our meals came out my wife's steak was medium well and mine was rare not what we ordered. The twice baked potato was not hot actually barely warm. The 1 lb lobster tail was good but I prefer steamed over grilled. On top of all that we've never been to a steakhouse with such dull knives. I could barely cut my filet. We splurged for the bananas fosters and were disappointed. Nothing table side hardly any bananas or ice cream but allot of thick sliced banana bread. We didn't remotely finish it. Never seen one done that way and hope to never see it again. The service by the support wait staff was very good but our waiter had no personality and didn't really check on us but once. He also did something my wife noticed when he took her empty wine glass and went over and said something to one of the other employees and sniffed her glass and had the other guy sniff it and they both cracked up. She wanted to ask him what that was all about but I told her to let it go. Getting to the restaurant from the parking structure takes a forced march through the casino down multiple levels and not a pleasant walk. Bnb steakhouse's food is really not very good and is low quality. My 4 scallops ( dinner entrée serving)were small and rubbery. Our waiter, who was very polite and graciously returned them. My risotto was lumpy and resembled oatmeal. My friend's steak was tuff and had little flavor. Another misstep is Sycuan's valet parking policy. They're happy to charge you $200 for dinner but don't offer valet parking unless you're a diamond or platinum card holder. Disappointing. read more

We ordered the steak carpaccio as an appetizer. It was good. Topped with micro greens and caviar and served with sesame crackers. Honestly, I didn't care for the crackers and ended up using bread. 1st course: soup or salad The potato soup was rich and creamy. The Bacon bits complimented the flavor. Nothing too special about the salad. Main course: steak and lobster with roasted carrots. The petite steak was cooked perfectly. I love how it was chard on all sides. Simple seasonings. I'm not a huge fan of lobster. Last night reminded me why. It was super dry. Overall presentation looked great. But a bowl of butter wouldn't have helped. The roasted carrots were fine. I just wish there were different vegetables grilled with it as well. The final course: it was like a 4 layer mini cake. At each level. There were different types of filling. But what we love the most was that they included these little candy pearls throughout the cake. It gave the cake a little crunch here and there. Overall, It was a great experience. We decided to check out Bull&Bourbon since we received a mail advertising their Thursday & Sunday's specials. We made reservations for Thursday Feb. 20,2025. We were there 30 mins early & checked-in with the host with our reservation at 7:45pm. There were two host. One young blonde girl in her twenties and a Middle Eastern/Hispanic woman in her middle age possibly. She looked a lot older. Both host were terrible. The blonde host said, "we're early. Pls take a seat / wait at the bar and they will call us when our table is ready. We waited for quite a while. Felt like half an hour. Pass our reservation time. We were ok w/it cz we assumed they must be booked out. When they finally called us the Middle Eastern host seated us. As we walked into the dining area it was only 40 percent full. So we guess maybe they' are under staff. The host sat us in the back but in the middle which we don't care for so we ask if we could have the booth seating beside us since there were 2 opened booths. She looked at us with a blank stare & say, " sorry, those tables are for reservations. They are taken. I can't sit u there. Sorry". So we just said, ok. Next we waited a while for our waiter but there was 2 tables w/a larger party. One table party of 10/12 & the other table party of 6. We figured it's fine. Our waiter must be busy. Later came a nice waiter name Alex. He said he is the waiter assistant. He got us water & said our waiter will be w/us shortly. Approximately 10mins later our waiter came. Took our order and left. He seems like a nice guy. He then went to ck up on the two larger parties to see if they wanted anything. He seems like he was trying to work the tips since it's a bigger party. We were watching other tables as we waited and saw another couple get seated behind our table. In the middle of the back dining area. 5 mins later they sat another couple at one of the booths that we had requested initially. Later our waiter came up to the table behind us & apologize for the long wait on their dinner while our main entree didn't even come yet. Considering we were there before them. We did get our salad first but then again we were there 25mins before them. We were hungry by this point so we were fine cz we got our salad at least. Our waiter said to the table behind us. "Don't worry. I'll ask my manager to discount ur meal since u had to wait so long". Idk if their wait was really that long. It didn't seem like it. Finally our dinner came. We ordered the special for the night. Steak& lobster with a salad & dessert and a beets salad in case the food isn't great we can go have their pizza since we enjoy the pizza at the deli. We were full after our meal bcz we stuff ourselves with bread and when we ask for our check our waiter took a while since he went back to the big table to work his tips. I waved down the assistant waiter to ask for our check again & the waiter saw him and said he got it. Meanwhile the other waiter ( young Asian girl) was on top of her area. She was on top of checking in on them every few mins. After a while of waiting our waiter came back and gave us our checks. He even said," don't worry, I was able to get you a discount!" We were thinking. Oh, that's nice of him that he noticed our wait time for everything was a bit much. Its nice he acknowledged that. We looked at our check and my husband being a value player gets a certain amount of food credit & our players card gets a percentage discount too. This is a normal perk for valued players. We didn't see any additional discounts besides what is the norms. So basically our waiter lied to try to get a good tip assuming we won't check our bill? Or that we don't know what discounts is on our players card? And the middle-aged Middle Eastern host lied about the booth table beside us being reserved bcz no one sat there. We stayed till closing. The staff here are liars and the host needs better training. Our entree were lacking flavor. Steak was bland, lobster overcooked. The only thing that we enjoyed were the salads & dessert. The food looks good on pictures but I would request for some salt & pepper if ur going to order the entrees. read more

I almost want to gatekeep this restaurant, but what kind of Elite Yelper would I be if I did that? I'm absolutely obsessed with their Sunday special prime rib. For just $20, you get a massive, melt-in-your-mouth cut of prime rib, served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Pair it with their discounted bourbon on Sunday evenings for the perfect meal. I recently tried their pork belly appetizer, and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I literally dream about it at night and pray for the day I can go back and have it again. If you can't find me on a Sunday night, I'm probably there, chowing down. The ambiance has that classic "old money" feel, and I absolutely love the vibe and service. Ate here last night for our NYE dinner. I have eaten here several times and the food was always good. I don't know who the chef was last night, but the food was subpar. Our server was Daniel and he is the only reason for the 2 stars. Other than that, our experience would have been minus one star. Our reservation was at 6:15. We ordered crab cakes. We were informed about 10 minutes later that they were "almost" out of them and that it was going to take the chef an hour to prepare more. First of all.. the restaurant was not crowded at this time so why don't you have enough crab cakes?? Second... if you are only "almost" out of them, then why cant we have the ones that are already prepared ???! Anyway.... I did end up eventually getting crab cakes because we were there so long... which is a whole other issue. The food- Ceasar salad... not good. It looks pretty, but I had to order more dressing as it was not dressed enough Chicken Piccata- AWFUL Chicken had absolutely no flavor and the noodles tasted like straight lemon juice Lobster tail- Awful It was so over cooked it wouldn't even cut. Steak- The only thing that had flavor All in all this was a pretty bad dining experience. They did sort of rectify it by pretty much comping all of the food.
