You must rate this restaurant on what it is and not what you want it to be. It's very old school and dated, which I happen to love. Even though we live in the age of short staffedness, they, unlike most other businesses in the area, do not seem to be short staffed. The service was excellent and personable. I wasn't a big fan of the buffet with all the pre made pre packaged food. However, the bake potato bar was delicious!! And please, for goodness sake, DO NOT pass up the fresh spinach with hot bacon dressing on the buffet. Throw on some eggs too. You might be tempted to add bacon but do not. There's is PLENTY in the dressing. If you're younger, you might not have any idea what I'm talking about. But trust me, you will LOVE IT!!! Found this place on yelp after turned away from Harrah's buffet. Why does a dinner buffet close at 8pm? The Prime Rib is cut right at your table. I got great cut cooked to a perfect medium rare. The salad bar needs a better selection. No tomatoes, cheese, or croutons.(We were there close to closing time so this may be the reason.) Baked potato and sour cream are at the salad bar along with a vegetable. The servers were attentive and refilled out drinks without being asked. I was a little disappointed the server didn't carve it table side like I've had in the past. He left the cart 4 or 5 tables down and carried it over instead. We paid extra for the movie but didn't use the tickets because the movie we had planned to see ended the day before, even though it was still listed. Manager Attn: I would give this a 4 star if it weren't for the waitress I was stuck with named Tonya. Just was there few days ago. Went with my mom for Mother's Day weekend. She never greeted our table only everyone else ( Caucasian ) she gave her name to everyone. She did come to our table eventually after the young gentleman asked us for drinks. She did give us service but not in a nice way and we got ignored a lot. We had already served our sides and waited forever for our meat. I will say she noticed our expressions and called me sweetie and asked if I wanted coffee. The coffee tasted burnt. Left no tip. I felt uncomfortable there. Please tell your staff to treat all races the same upon hiring. I will say that I will go back because I've gone there for years. It's a tradition on our trip. As for the food review... the prime rib is big and tasted delicious and juicy with flavor. The coconut pie is my favorite there. The salad bar was very good as well with lots of choices. I love going to the prime rib room, I enjoy seeing server and cashier that have been there for years and truly care about the customers.

Oh my gosh! Terrible! Service was a joke and the food was trash. Zero seasoning and flavor and prime rib was "wet." I went with someone who doesn't eat meat. They made the salmon out to be like it was fresh. The salmon was out of a box and breaded. The salad bar felt like it came out of a prepackaged bag. The potatoes were hard and small. Now let's get to the service. I have to eat gluten-free, so when the salmon was brought out, I had to decline. The server told me it was ok and that I could just keep eating the salad bar. (Mind you, I paid for the whole meal) The man serving the meat was the only decent piece of the service, because he offered me some prime rib. When I complained that the food was terrible, our server didn't act surprised, she was passive. She took our receipt up to the front and then came back and said our meal would be comped/refunded. When we got up to the register to get our meal refunded, the woman at the register said that they were going to refund our meal, but still had to charge us for the salad bar. First, for full disclosure, we went here because I received a birthday dinner for 2. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our party. The whole meal for all of us came up to $100 and all were paid by the birthday voucher and comp points. This was our first time here. Now, this is not a first class, black tie restaurant nor is this a hip, brand spanking new place. Also, its covid time so those are considered in this review. We called at 2 pm and got a 7:45 pm dinner reservation. They said only 4 people per table, we said that's fine, just sit us close to each other and that they did - with a nice view of the water. Drink orders were collected and delivered in paper cups due to covid. Utensils and napkins are in a paper bag due to covid. All are required to wear a mask until drinks are served. All waiters had a mask as well. Drinks are refillable by the waiter giving you a new cup. This is a fixed dinner - bread and butter is served for starters. 1st part - salad choices - caesar (we had this it was good as in the portion is right, the dressing came in a package due to covid, the croutons were crunchy, the parmesan delish), spinach and garden. 2nd part - appetizers - shrimp cocktail and seafood cocktail - we tried both and they were ok - pre frozen seafood but still fresh and tasted good. 3rd part - potatoes - choices are baked and scalloped. Bakes came with packed chives, cheese, butter and sour cream. Scalloped appeared to be cooked with butter and bacon. If you want full flavor, go with scallop. If you want simple, go with baked potato. 4th part - potato add ons - cream of spinach or carrots. I was not a fan of either so most of them stayed in the plate. 5th part - main dinner options - prime rib (which ever you want it done - my hubby had the medium rare and i had the fatty end trimmings with the rub), seafood, or chicken cordon bleu. We both had prime rib and it was delicious! It was so soft, every bite was easy. The prime rib server person even cut it up for me because my 3 month old was crying and he said it would be easier for me to eat while putting her to sleep. HOW SWEET IS THAT! 6th part - dessert - strawberry shortcake or cream puff. Strawberry shortcake was good. Bonus for us - birthday cake and champagne. Nice touch. Now onto the service - the waiters were straightforward - they tell you these are your food options, they quickly bring you your food. You ask for drink refill and water, they bring that to you. There is a separate person taking cocktail orders and she was nice about my 4 year old almost knocking her out with her full tray. She had great balance! Overall, we had no expectations and we felt we were served well by everyone. They did not snark at us, they were accepting of the kids, they gave us what we needed asap. They were not chatty or too comfy for comfort. They asked how our food was just enough times as this could be annoying to me at least - if the waiter is overly friendly, chatty and keeps going back every 5 minutes. WE ate here in a Saturday night and the food was great. They have a nice salad bar with a very nice selection. It also includes some sides like baked potato, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. The prime rib was a nice sized cut. They come to your table with the cart and ask you what wellness you like and then they slice off a nice sized piece. All three of our pieces were tender and juicy and tasted great. For $21.99 you can't go wrong. Then you can go back to the end of the salad bar where the desserts are located and pick all you want. There is soft-serve ice cream, some slices of various cakes and a nice selection of pieces of pie. We really enjoyed the evening out. I cannot find one good thing to say about this place. I do not understand why there was a line out the door. The décor is dated, and the booths are small. You are seated and then you go get your salad. The lettuce is nasty iceberg lettuce from a bag (we saw them filling it up), and there is some spinach from a bag too. Very few salad bar toppings to put on your salad, and the additional salads (crab salad, cucumber salad, etc.) were not good. Why can't they at least have a nice spring lettuce mix and some good toppings? Bleh! Next you go to the potato bar to get potatoes. The baked potato was fair, and you can add butter, sour cream, cheese, chives (big giant pieces), and what looked like uncooked bacon. I should have taken a picture of the bacon because it looked like they took bacon from a package and chopped it up without cooking it. Just thinking about it...wait...I just threw up in my mouth. There are also potato wedges, some cheese sauce from a can, some mashed potatoes that cannot possibly be fresh, some gelatinous gravy, creamed spinach (so horrible), and rolls from a package. When you go to the potato bar they bring your prime rib...that is not carved tableside. I'm not sure how this prime rib was cooked, but it certainly isn't roasted in an oven. There was no yummy crust on it, and no ring around the inside where you can tell it was roasted. It appeared to have been cooked in a steamer. The consistency was disgusting...I can't even adequately describe it. I took two bites and pushed my plate away. The other two women with me did the same. When the server came back and we complained about the prime rib he just took our plates and walked away. I looked on the website before we went to this restaurant. There was a part of the website that talked about how all the desserts are made fresh every day. "Our dessert selection includes a delectable assortment of pies, cakes (with sugar free choices) all made fresh daily in our own bakery." This has to be an outright lie. There is no way the items we looked at were made in house. I took a small slice of lemon meringue pie and the top of it was hard. I put a bite in my mouth and almost spit it out...so gross. These were clearly pies taken out of a box, and cut into slices. I would never go back to this place. We had to go out to eat afterwards because I had only eaten part of a baked potato, and some rolls. The worst meal I have had in a very long time. read more

I've been coming here over the past 10 years and I can tell you, the quality has certainly declined however, I can only attest for the prime rib itself (I mean thats why you come here right? ) the buffet is pretty good, salad is fresh, baked potatoes are awesome and the desserts are still great. Last time I came, I asked our server if there was anymore key lime pie (cause there were no more out at the buffet) and he was kind enough to bring 2 extra plates for my family as well. They seat you, and explain the way dinner works. They take your drink order, then You start at the unlimited salad bar. They gave plenty of delicious options from the simple salad, fruit, to cheese covered potatoes. Then, you choose from 3 different types of meats. For example, during our visit, our choices were prime rib, baked cod, or chicken. We always indulge on the prime rib. It's a generous portion and always cooked to perfection. Oh and how can I possibly forget. The staff is always amazing. From the sweet cashiers who immediately greet you with a warm smile, the hostess who seats you, to your server, we always receive excellent service. You get what you pay for... we were already regretting making reservations there when we prepaid before you eat. Not a sign of quality. When you pay less than $50 for two people to have a prime rib dinner, you know it's going to be awful. 1. The servers rush you & bring out all the courses as quickly as possible. 2. Meh seafood salad or shrimp cocktail to begin. 2. Caesar salad or garden salad brought with packages of dressing. That may be a Covid thing, but it also speaks to the lower quality of the dressing itself. 3. Baked potato & mixed vegetables. These were both actually the best things we ate. I'd love to tell you how the scalloped potatoes were (that I ordered) but we were both brought baked potatoes & at that point I didn't care. I already knew the whole dinner was a shit show. 4. The worst prime rib ever. Cooked properly but the absolute cheapest cut of meat possible. 5. Peanut butter bar & cannoli for dessert. Bottom layer of the peanut butter bar had raisins in it and then a raspberry jelly on top. Just odd. Cannoli soggy & more shell than filling. Used to come here years and years ago and remember it being good. Well, maybe I'm just more particular 25 years later, but the food was not good. The prime rib was just okay, and that was the best part of the meal. The sides tasted like cafeteria food - processed and didn't taste like veggies at all. The baked potato bar had an okay topping selection but it seemed like old food that had clumped together so we couldn't even get it off the spoon. The prime rib was terrible. One of the nicest choices for dinner when visiting the Riverside is Don's Prime Rib room. Phone reservations are taken after 4pm and it is suggested. We were a group of 7 and had 630 reservation. Our table was window side. Everyone pays at the door and it is semi-self serve which keeps the price very low for a good cut of prime rib. The pace is leisurely which allows us to talk and sip before getting our own salads at the simple salad bar and baked potato bar. A server took beverage requests included and a cocktail waitress came by for alcohol drinks - extra charge. It does feel semi-Old School allows for conversation for us oldsters without smartphones or tablets in use except for taking a photo or 2. The prime rib cart arrives and a nice cut per request plus beautiful mushroom a jus and either mild or hot grated horseradish. I went back to the salad area and pickup a few more of the in-house made rolls to sop up the tasty juiciness. I slowly devour my medium cooked hunk of tender beef with that sinus clearing dollop of horseradish - ummm. There is a simple dessert bar slices of pies & cakes - Midwest style - and soft serve ice cream machine with a bottle of Hersey's chocolate sauce next to it. Good meal for about $20 per. Tax & tip. We stayed until after 830 and were never rushed by staff, just offer more coffee. Satisfying. The audience for the Prime Rib Room tends to be older - among them are Midwestern holiday junketteers, Senior bus trippers, local retirees and other gamblers. Uggggg. So disappointed. Used to be at least decent but this was horrific. Appetizer choice: shrimp cocktail or seafood salad. No non-seafood choices? What if you're allergic? You could at least devein the shrimp appropriately. Then came cold rolls. After that salads. Don't get the spinach. So gross. Why do you put steaming hot onions on fresh spinach? It freakin wilts. And it made the hard boiled eggs smell like vomit. Potatoes and sides were school cafeteria quality. This all wouldn't have mattered if the prime rib was good. It wasn't. They asked what the problem was, and we said it just tastes awful. They said sorry and that was about it. We paid 100 before we went in, so we had already paid for terrible food.
