Visited the Prime Rib Room at the Riverside for the first time today. Nice view of the Colorado from the restaurant on the 2nd floor. Cost is $20 for Prime Rib, salad bar, potato bar, and dessert bar - not a bad deal. After we were seated - we went to the salad bar - just ok, not much of a salad bar, just a few toppings. The potato bar is a little better - includes a few toppings for baked potatoes along with mashed, fried, and a couple of vegetables. A server comes around and serves you fresh, hot prime rib to your doneness. Very tasty and tender - not the best a Prime Rib I've had, but ok. Topped with mushrooms & au jus - horseradish optional. Service was marginal all evening - they seemed short handed. Dessert bar had pies, cakes, and assorted pastries - all typical buffet desserts, nothing special. read more

First I must comment about the location of this restaurant, absolutely beautiful views of the Colorado River makes this a very calming place to eat. For $16.99 you get a choice of prime rib, fish or chicken cordon bleu, soft drinks/coffee and buffet. There is a barmaid that walks around to take orders if you want something from the bar. The server brings you your choice of meat and than you go to the buffet to get your salad, potato, vegetable. I ordered the prime rib and I thought it was pretty good and was a good size. The buffet was quite limited and many of the items offered was not to appealing to me but I really liked their mashed potatoes. You get dessert at the buffet too. There can be a long line so make sure you make a reservation and ask to sit by the window along the beautiful river. Employees need a moral boost which seems to be a theme throughout the entire hotel/casino. read more

Sad when the main attraction to your restaurant (it's even the NAME of the place) turns out to be tasteless meat. You'll be paying far too much for a limited buffet and poor quality service if you eat here. Firstly, I made reservations and the "hostess" who took my call was less than polite. Then when we arrived the she accused us of being late - we were on time but she was chatting and taking $ from some people - who didn't have reservations - when we'd arrived. You pay first and then get seated. I asked for a cocktail - twice - and was told they'd tell the cocktail server, who was no where to be seen and then walked past our table - twice - and finally stopped. The meal was 3/4 done so I didn't bother ordering one by then. The salads are limited and nothing special. Basic (very basic) sides; mashed potato, au gratin or baked, vegetable (it was carrots) and creamed spinach (yep, just like at the hospital cafeteria) and dessert (dry cake and soft serve ice cream). The meal was FAR from worth what we paid (over $50 for 2 of us) and the whole experience was disappointing. But, lesson Learned! This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the prime rib medium rare the cut was just perfect. The meat was very tender and the flavor was awesome. I've eaten prime rib everywhere and this was one of the best. The waitress we had was constantly refilling my iced tea and the cocktail waitress was constantly moving serving people. I have eaten here twice in the past, it has great Ambiance and the wait staff is usually pretty on point but the prices are a little on the higher side and the wait is sometimes ridiculous. You can go next door or downstairs and get the same cut of prime rib for less money and not have to wait anywhere near as long. Room temperature, gray, dry prime rib that must've sat in the serving tray for a while, served with cold canned mushrooms. The salad bar is cheap. The table next to us returned a slice of prime rib and the waiter put it back in the serving tray on top of the rest of the uncut prime rib. Positive- carrots were awesome. Negative- wine was straight out the box. Prime rib was horrible, I think golden coral might serve a better quality meat. Salad bar was lacking. I am sorry to give this place such a low rating because the service here was very good. Friendly and attentive. But don't be fooled. This is just like a Sizzler or buffet. You pay before you sit down. Its not really very expensive around 45$ for two before tax and tip. I would recommend not tipping up front. You sit down and your waiter greats you and asks you for your drink order (not your alcohol order). He then tells you to go to the salad bar and get your salad and that your "carver" will come for your dinner order when you finish your salad. A cocktail waitress comes by to take your order. Ok you go get your salad from a very so so salad bar. Not a great deal of choices. You eat that and your carver comes and asks you what you would like. Prime rib, chicken cordon bleu or breaded cod. Thats it....thats the menu. Our carver was very nice. There was a large serving of meat with canned mushrooms swimming in au jus on the plate. The mushrooms were so gross and tough? Next while your meat is sitting at the table getting cold you go serve yourself your sides. The baked potato was ok. The rest were over-cooked and not tasty at all. There is a dessert bar that you can go serve yourself from too. The meat was not the best quality and when prime rib is cold and not good quality it just gets a tallowy taste I guess. The carver tried his best and offered a fresh slice but that was too late. I would give this Restaurant 5 Stars for the delicious prime rib carved at your table, 4 Stars for the view of the river and mountains, and 3 Stars for the weird service. First of all, the restaurant has a big waiting area with comfy couches but it made customers wait outside the narrow hallway. With a service door opening and closing frequently in and out of the same hallway, waiting in line with 25 other folks was an onerous experience. Then at 4pm when they finally let us in, the cashier was slow. And when we wanted to upgrade one of our kids to a full adult meal, a Manager needed to come out and backed out of the entire financial transaction just to recharged the entire thing again for dinner for 5 (husband, wife and 3 kids). that financial redux took 10min but felt like 30 with lots of impatient customers waiting around. Only reason we visited the Prime rib Room was because a night earlier we ate at Saltgrass and had a very mediocre Ribeye and was looking for some good beef. Not a fan of the hotel/casino but will say the Prime Rib room was far superior in terms of ambience and quality of food. Our prime rib was cooked perfectly at med-rare and potatoes were hot and fresh. the entire meal was excellent with the only negative being we had to park at the old hotel/casino and walk thru it to get there. I'm shocked at all the awful reviews. I have been to the Prime Rib Room a handful of times and all have been grrreat! I don't think the experience is as complicated as other reviews made it out to be, either. Get seated at a table (if you're lucky it faces the river!) A waiter will turn grab your drink orders, if you want cocktails the cocktail waitress will get those for you. Head to the salad bar which has just about everything you could want. After salad is finished, grab side dishes from the buffet, which cues the meat carver to head to your table. He asks how you like your prime rib, if you want mushrooms, and if you want horseradish sauce or "atomic" horseradish. The atomic is FIRE and it is oh so good! At this point you are probably STUFFED so you can give it a few minutes before you order coffee and enjoy dessert. :) Service is always outstanding, drinks are never empty, everyone is always friendly. It was difficult to find a place to eat the night before Mother's Day in Laughlin, but my husband got one for the Prime Rib Room. Just happened to read all the Yelp reviews right before heading there for our dinner reservation. Wish I would have read them sooner! The best thing I had was my small salad. Kept it simple. Lettuce and blue cheese dressing. The staff were very attentive, and that was nice. My husband got the Prime Rib, and I chose the salmon- the staff member said it was farm raised and had sun dried tomatoes on it. Sounded good to me. While waiting for our main course, we went back to the buffet for our sides. My husband got a baked potato with all the extras, and creamed spinach. I chose the scalloped potatoes and green beans. My husband enjoyed his loaded baked potato and Prime Rib, but my Salmon was horrible, as were the scalloped potatoes and green beans. Love the view! Loved the price. But wasn't in love with much else here. My parents chose this place to take us to dinner on Wednesday night. Luckily, they served fish. Unluckily, it tasted awful. This was one of those night's that I really missed eating meat. The prime rib looked delicious and everyone was commenting on how good it was. I even miss the horseradish spread. But, I stuck to my guns and ordered the Teriyaki Almond-encrusted Mahi Mahi. Doesn't that sound like it should be yummy? I thought so too! But it tasted like Chicken of the Sea. The teriyaki sauce was flavorless. The almond's weren't even visible. Blah! The salad bar threw us because they have different toppers on either side. But the lettuce was fresh and the dressing was good. The baked potatoes were delicious, but the steamed vegetables were lifeless. The service was spotty. Our drink server was wonderful but our meat server was terrible (aka: bad attitude, kept talking and singing to himself, rude when asked questions...). I would tell you his name but I've been reprimanded for outting bad employees by name. So, in the spirit of Harry Potter, we shall call him "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named." LOL Highlight of my meal? I don't understand so many negative reviews here. I've eaten here many times over the last 15 years and it has always been excellent. But I think that if you're not up to eating prime rib you probably shouldn't aim your sights on a restaurant called the "Prime Rib Room." My latest visit here was just like all my past visits. Mostly good food (except for the creamed spinach) from the buffet bar, excellent prime rib, hand carved from a cart, cooked to your order and served table side. Wow, the negative reviews really surprise me! First of all, the Riverside Hotel is the FIRST hotel ever in Laughlin. The city is named after the Gentleman who founded it - Don Laughlin. It's an older property, but I think they have something for everyone and all of the restaurants are very reasonably priced. The Prime Rib Room is no exception. My Mom and I like to take little "staycations" to Laughlin and were there this past weekend. We've seen the Prime Rib Room during previous trips, but never dined there because we usually get there late at night and only stay for the 1 night. This time we were staying 2 days, so we decided to try it out. Don Laughlin renovated the hotel about 10 years ago and moved all of the restaurants so that they face the river. The Prime Rib Room is located on the 2nd floor, just above the casino and easily accessible from just about anywhere in the hotel. My first suggestion is to make a reservation. We were advise to do this when we made our room reservation and I am glad that we followed this direction. Since it was Saturday night and the hotel was hosting a concert (as well as a holiday weekend), there was a long wait to dine. We cruised right in just before 7pm for our reservation and were immediately seated. We were happy to see that we were seated in a large booth with a great view of the river! Now, don't get me wrong, this is not Lawry's or anything really very fancy. But I was surprised to see that dinner was only $14.99 per person. That is basically all inclusive - it includes an AYCE salad bar (which admittedly could use some work), your dinner (prime rib, chicken cordon bleu or fish), dessert and soda/coffee/tea. After being seated, it took quite awhile for anyone to approach us regarding our drink order. The table next to us was seated and approached immediately (after us), while we waited. My mom and I wanted to each have a glass of wine and were told by the server that they don't do the alcohol, but a cocktail waitress would be around "soon." Unfortunately, there were only 2 for the entire restaurant, and since it was busy, this took a LONG time. We were actually finished with our dinner before we got our wine. As for the food: The salad bar was nothing special, just your typical buffet style items. Everything was fresh, and I found that the "build your own" potato skins were a big hit. They also had mashed potatoes/gravy, creamed spinach and other sides to go with your meat and many other items. Our server told us to just let him know when we were ready for dinner, since they carve the prime rib table side. A short while later he checked back on us and we ordered our meat. We both got it medium rare with mushrooms (on the side, not on top of the meat), and I got the raw horseradish because I LOVE it. Apparently our server didn't believe me and chose to give me the weak, creamy horseradish, but it was still good. My meat was cooked perfectly and was not dry. The mushrooms were really good as well. I can't speak of the other food choices because I would never go to a place called the "Prime Rib Room" and order chicken or fish. And NONE of the other tables around us ordered those items either. For dessert they had soft serve ice cream and a selection of pies and cakes at the end of the salad bar (again, AYCE). I appreciate that everything is included for 1 low price. The service overall was good and I would definitely go back. While it wasn't the best prime rib I've ever had, it was far from the worst either. I would also suggest this to anyone I know that is visiting Laughlin, since it's a reasonably priced option with good service and food and an awesome view of the river! read more

Just visited it again last weekend while at the big Corvette rally in town. Been eating here since it was cozy dark and had warmth and character, and was only $7. Ya get what ya pay for with prime rib. It's simple and straight forward. If Dennys was a prime rib place it'd probably be like this. Nothing else has changed at all in the Prime Rib Room since the Riverside opened except the price and you can now look out at the river. Still very good prompt service. I ordered my usual end cut and it was fine. Not spectacular like Lawrys,, but for $15 it was fine. Deserts at most the Riversides restaurants are the building blocks of the Riverside Hotel, institutional kinda bricks bussed in from Vegas. Hard, all ya taste is a blast of sugar, and would be the the kinda sweets ya buy on the marked-down-with-a-crayon / 6 boxes for $1 table at the day old bread store. You could easily build a retaining wall with any item offered. They'd work as Skeets on the trap range too. Quality has gone down since 2015. Prime rib is the only reason to go if you're a carnivore. Typical buffet sides with greasy handles! Salad was about gone, chives in the butter, one of the dressings had cheese swimming in it, the green beans were disgusting, and the biscuits were little hocky pucks. Uncleanly to say the least. Desert was a disaster! Limited selection from boxed cheesecake mix to nonaromatic banana creme pie (weird) your best bet is the ice cream machine or chocolate cake. Oh and don't order from cocktail waitress unless you want beer with your cake. The staff is very friendly and attentive! Went here on July 4. Price is good for what you get. This place is sort of a poor man's Lawry's. Location is very hard to find inside the hotel. We had to ask an employee for directions. You can probably get a cheaper prime rib dinner elsewhere in Laughlin or take the drive to Vegas, but I thought the Prime Rib Room did a darn good job with their prime rib! The prime rib is super tender, flavorful, and not too fatty or grisly, and they give you a generous portion of it. The rest of the meal was OK: basic salad, potato, and dessert bar. But at least everything was fresh tasting. The service was friendly and prompt. Lovely view of the Colorado River from the dining room. If you don't like prime rib, there is also roast chicken, salmon, and mahi mahi, but our server only recommended the prime rib and chicken. I've been to the Riverside ever since I was little (staying here to visit family). I'd never been to the prime rib room so I decided to take my husband. Pros: Nice view of the river GREAT prime rib! It was delicious! We both LOVED it! Sides were nice. Salad was decent. Deserts were plentiful Cons: Baked potato was a little bland. The smell from the oil candle was very strong.
