This coffee tastes like the roast burned. The beans were pre-ground and the barista confirmed not many people order espresso. The barista tried to shame me for re-ordering with soy milk. My bad, I forgot to specify and I'm paying for the second drink - there's no need to rub it in "ooh, did YOU forget to TELL ME what milk you wanted? The soy won't taste as good..."after. I don't think any kind of milk can help the way you brewed it. 0/10, I'm leaving this review as a reminder to never come here again. read more

I leave this review in the hopes that the owners will make some much needed changes. I am an avid home roaster and feel I have a good understanding of how to make coffee. My GF and I were in the area and wanted a good coffee, not SB or DB. So we searched and found Primo Espresso. We figured they must pull a good shot. We were wrong. The GOOD: First, the staff were all very friendly. The atmosphere was great and the pastries were good. The BAD: The coffee was awful. We both ordered a cappuccino. Both were pulled too hot and tasted incredibly burnt, as others have noted in their reviews. It was almost undrinkable... I hope the owners read this and adjust the temperature of their water. read more

My first drink I had gotten here was called the "hug mocha" (it consists of using white chocolate and chocolate) in its coffee and I really enjoyed my first time experience!!! I liked how it was walking distance down the block, and they top it off with a split of regular whipped cream and chocolate whipped cream. I only started coming here because my boyfriend stops for smokes at the Plaid next door - I never thought cigarettes would land me amazing coffee, but they did. The staff is super friendly, the prices are totally reasonable and over the last 7 months, I've never once had a bad experience or an even mediocre espresso. I moved to Tigard about eleven months ago, and I discovered Primo a few weeks after that. I've never had a bad coffee, bad pastry, or a bad attitude here. Attitude-wise: the staff members are amazingly friendly and sweet, and they genuinely care about their clientele (they don't just shove a latte out and holler your name). When I walk in at 6:30 in the morning, I get a smile and am asked, "Big coffee?" (At that hour, all I can articulate is "Big... coffee..." and hand them my debit card. They know me pretty well now.) The pastries are GREAT! I definitely recommend the Cheddar Bacon Maple Scone, it's absolutely fabulous. It doesn't do much for a svelte figure, but the Oatmeal Marionberry Scone is just as delicious. And the coffee? Ooof. Delicious! I love watching them work the big ol' espresso machine. No automated robots here; these baristas are the real deal and press, steam, mix, and blend everything themselves. Plus, they are artists with a coffee: give them a direction ("Something... hazelnutty, vanilla-y, and not too sweet....") and they'll put a delightful treat in your hands not long after. Well it's not Starbucks, that gets it more than one star. Unfortunately, Starbucks brews a better cup of coffee (and it has been a rare occasion that I've got a good cup from Starbucks). The roasts they offer here are revolting; I thought beans went stale, not rancid. The atmosphere is virtually non-existent. Great little coffee shop in Tigard. I usually stop there once per trip to Oregon. The staff is always very friendly and the coffee is good. The number one reason I go there though is the raspberry pastries. SO GOOD! They also put little snowmen stickers on your coffee cup to keep it from spilling. These two things = awesome. I do get sad that they run out of the raspberry things fairly early in the morning though :( They also sell some cute little coffee cups. I would definitely recommend. read more

Best coffee shop anywhere! Anytime I'm in Portland I visit daily. Their baked goods, cafe mochas, and service (Grant rocks!) are all outstanding. The Mexican chocolate mocha makes for the most delicious and unique cafe mocha ever. Arrive early to score a bacon/egg/cheese turnover, marionberry scone, and/or pumpkin bread. Primo Espresso has two things that I think a lot of little coffee shops lack: variety of drinks and quality of food. They have such a wide variety of flavors for drinks that whenever you get sick of your regular drink, there are plenty of options to choose from. And although I prefer the full-blown sugar rush, they offer a ton of sugar-free flavors for you diabetics and health junkies. They also have a wide variety of high qualities teas, both iced and hot. And finally, they have great blended drinks and smoothies that come in all sorts of flavors. Another reason Primo Espresso is my preferred coffee shop in the area is because of their great pastries. The pastries are baked on site so you never need to worry about hopping into your car and biting into a stale pastry once you're already 5 minutes down the road. And instead of having just your run-of-the-mill pastry selection, they offer great things like chai raspberry mini muffins, marionberry scones and even pastries without eggs or wheat. The staff here are great and are very much in touch with their community. They have a ton of regulars here and are great at being cordial with everyone while still moving the line along. The people skills of the staff is lacking. When it is busy they are stressed, not engaging and kind of rude. Primo makes a great drink and their pastries are really good. The staff there needs to step up there customer service and smile to everyone. I felt bad for ordering more than one item because they made me feel like it was more important to get to the next person in line. If I wanted that kind of service I would go to Starbucks. I chose to go to Primo because I want a hand crafted beverage that takes time to make. I will give them a few more chances but if the bad customer service continues I will not recommend this place. Best advice I could give primo staff is slow down don't be in a hurry. I will wait for you coffee because you make a great beverage. Your product is worth waiting for. read more

I have been coming here for years and hands down, still the best place around for a nice latte, coffee or tea. This is your local mom and pop business and its a common place for regulars. This is the place that they will know your name and know what you like to drink. I love the coffee and have to admit that I have a weakness for their Ghirardelli chocolate.
