We have a vacation home in Mount Pleasant. Every time we visit from Tennessee, we try to make it a point to visit PH. The quality of their ingredients are something we actually write home about. The day before we leave, we order their largest sandwich (always the Audie) and we get all of the veg and condiments on the side on the side so we can add them as we work on the enormous hoagie. Do NOT write this place off. You may be expecting "just" a regular sandwich. You will be wrong. We have nothing at home in Tennessee that comes close to this place. You will not be disappointed! We are ordering soon and I'm so excited! Oh! The bread is amazing. Don't forget to check the sides in the cooler to the left. The only reason for a 5 star is because there's been some inconsistency in the sandwiches and It can be disappointing to spend so much on a sandwich and get something less impressive from the time before. I humbly submit this review with an admission. About a year ago, I tried Primo for the first time. I ordered a steak, and I was not overly impressed. I wrote a scathing review, possibly a little overly harsh. I always felt a bit bad about that, as it wasn't probably wasn't warranted. A couple weeks ago, my new neighbor was ranting about how great the subs were at Primo. I told him of my experience, and he quickly corrected me. "No. You need to try the Italian. Go back and give it a try. Trust." I decided Primo was worth another shot. And I have to tell you honestly, this may have been the BEST Italian sub I've ever had. When I'm wrong about something, I'll own it. I've removed the previous review, now ashamed about how wrong I was. I went to the Mt Pleasant (Hwy 17) location and casually mentioned a competitor while giving my order to the Owner and he started with insults. I stated "Those are your issues" and the Owner double-downed with personal insults. I took my order for 8 hoagies to Publix instead. I will never go back to the Mt Pleasant location. Decided to give primos a shot....WOW, finally is all I am going to say. Not bad, growing on me. If you don't like the seeded buns like me, ask for a plain bun - makes the sandwich so much better. Sharp italian is great, their philly is not. Much more expensive that Jersey Mikes, Firehouse, etc but more selection. UPDATE: So I have been in many times since my initial review trying different sandwiches, and had to change my review to 5 stars. I have not had anything but great food. I love Primo so. Their thinly sliced meats and onions and signature oil/vinegar mix make for a great hoagie. They have all sorts of drink and chip options as well as items in the cases like pepper shooters, olives, and desserts. Sign up for their rewards programs and most of the time you can get $2 off a regular "primo" sized hoagie. Pro tip- this is a great beach eat. Customer service was fine by the server, but the owner looked terribly grumpy. Prices are outrageously high in relation to their competitions prices. Sandwiches are really good though. A little out of the way from where I usually eat from but I heard good things from friends from Philly so figured I would give it a shot. I ordered a Primo size Cheese steak with friend onions and cheese wiz. It was my first time ever having Wiz on a steak and cheese sandwich and although it was good. It was too much. There was good flavor with the steak and onions and what not but the cheese was just too much for me. But the flavor was good. Staff was very friendly as well! I will say that when you order ahead of time at 1 and order it for 1:40 you expect it to be ready when you get there and I had to wait a few minutes extra. Not a big deal and didn't go into my rating but felt it should be noted. I also was not expecting my sandwich to not be cut in half but I guess that is customary for a cheesesteak spot so again, no effect on my overall rating If the sandwich had less Wiz on it my review would have been a 5. Despite being back in Charleston for less than 2 weeks following a 3-week stay in South Jersey with full access to Philly delicacies every day, we couldn't be in Mt. Pleasant and not stop at Primo-- cheesesteaks for today, a hoagie for tomorrow. Everything still perfect! So glad the pandemic spared this taste-of-home business. I wish there were some way to help convince locals they, too, need to develop the cheesesteak/ hoagie addiction as a means of ensuring Primo's Mt. Pleasant future! The food is wonderful, the staff is young and friendly, and even a 45-minute drive to get those cheesesteaks home didn't diminish how delicious they were (bring foil and a insulated bag and they travel just fine!). read more

I believe they up charge you also! There is a grub hub contact # & I questioned them about it & she claimed there isn't an uncharged & she worked for Yelp but the Ph# said grub hub contact! Well the subs are delicious here the customer service and the management is severely lacking. I called at 6:50 on a Wednesday to order dinner for myself my partner and our son and was immediately hung up on after being told they were out of bread. Then when I called back immediately thereafter a little girl answer the phone said that they were out of bed they were not allowed to take anymore orders and that her manager has forbidden her from taking any more orders and then asked if I needed to speak with her manager. I guess the manager doesn't want any more money that day I guess he felt like he had made enough money and didn't want to feed anybody else so unless you're there at 6:00 p.m. you're not going to get what you wanted Primo subs and don't bother calling cuz they'll just hang up on you after lying to you that they're running out of bread... worst lie I've ever heard from a sub shop certainly one as popular as Primo claims to be, that or they don't know how to par bake or par order. 1. Get better management, 2. Learn how to utilize a par ordering/baking system so that every evening (because they're not even open at night) they can close their doors at their advertised time of closing (7pm) instead of 20-30 minutes early. 3. Hire more professional teenagers to work or at least teach them appropriate professional phone etiquette. Geezus. read more

We love primos!!! Seriously crave the sandwiches from there. They are sooooo good! Only complaint is the hours. They close super early, before dinner hours, so if we want a sandwich during the week then we are out of luck. Also depending on who is working depends on how heavy they are with toppings (and we like it heavy). read more

The subs were decent however the service was TERRIBLE! We waited over 30 minutes while to go orders were being handed out left and right. Finally went up to the counter and was told by the very rude woman at the register that we should have told her sooner we were still waiting because our subs were just sitting in the kitchen area.
