I have to say I am a fan for sentimental reasons. I used to get pizza from here all the time back in my high school days. I don't remember the convenience store section. Back then it was all about the pizza. I've mistakenly thought this place was closed because of the darkened windows out front. Its actually been remodeled and doesn't resemble the grungy liquor store/carry out pizza place of the past. It is bright and clean on the inside. They've got a great selection of wines - many under $10.00. Their pizza is good, but not outstanding. However, they rank in the top five for pizza in their price point. I've given this establishment numerous chances to make mjr a happy customer and yet they disappoint every single time. Only reason I gave them 1 star is bc I can't give them zero. I ordered my pizza cooked a certain way (on the lighter side NOT burned) and when the pizza arrived, BINGO it was DRY with burned parts barely any sauce and just not looking appetizing. A frozen pizza from a store would've looked much better. I called and expressed the issues with it and the "manager" (rude, nonchalant attitude) pretty much blamed me for not expressing the"right wording" for them to make it correctly. Well.... the pizza never made it to my home bc after waiting an HOUR I decided to cancel it and just get Jets Pizza. Primos pizza went the garbage bc I wouldn't even want to give it to a homeless person and insult them with this product. Had an awful experience at what I thought was a previously solid pizza place. Ordered (1) large and (1) medium pizza and was blown away by how small and mediocre the product was! Charging $31.55 for a large and a medium pizza is dishonest and frankly a disgrace. Primos has the potential to crank out delicious slices and pies but they have to refocus their efforts in a serious way. I called to complain once I got home but received a disinterested "those are our prices" line from the manager on duty. Higher level management please take note. There is a place called Pizzaplex in SW Detroit that serves an $8 Margherita that absolutely blows away the product you are currently serving. read more

59 dollars for pizza and salad and the cardboard box looked better than what was inside. Cheese pizza was over cooked and dried out! The other pizza was also over cooked and toppings were minimal. The salad was ok, just average and what was supposed to be a large antipasto salad seemed like a small. We were hoping for a tasty dinner but was disappointed in this meal. We grew up on Primo's slices 30 yrs ago and always used up all the coupons books that we could. They were hard to come by and usually only one book a month! Was a "go-to" spot for anyone in the area. loved riding our bikes to get a slice. Wow..Things have changed. The place is clean and a very well-stocked party store as well. The Primo's pizza I remember from years ago is not the Primo's pizza today. Sadly, the last 3-4 times I picked up a slice or got a whole pie, the pizza was too spongy (and not in a good Detroit Style), and either way too much cheese and virtually no sauce. And cooked a bit too much on the well-done side. Nothing like the "old days" of curled up pepperoni, real Wisconsin Brick Cheese, and PLENTY of sauce. Not sure when they changed the amount of sauce, but I felt It was no better than just getting breadsticks with a side of sauce. Well, maybe we are in the minority. Never left a review before for anyplace on Yelp, but felt compelled to do so. When an establishment won't take a coupon from their own website, I take major issue. The pizza here is okay (at best) when you really want some food, but Jet's, Buddy's, Green Lantern, etc. are obviously better. It's very close to us, though, so every now and then we order it. Their response when I showed them my coupon on the website was, and I quote, "you need to print it out." Oh, and, "we get that about five times per night." You mean people trying to use the coupons you have on your own website?!? WTF?!? Are you f'in kidding me? I won't be coming back here again. Ever. Had pepperoni pizza to go for $2/slice and it was a bit greasy, but it's ok. Sometimes grease can cure a bad day, and I had a pretty rough Friday. The pizza slice didn't WOW me in any way but one slice was surprisingly filling. I could only eat 1 1/2 slices. Pizza There was more cheese than sauce and in fact, it reminded me a lot of little caesars with a jets pizza style cut. I did appreciate the dough. It wasn't too crispy or chewy. It was just right, but again it was saturated with grease, so I had to dab it a few times with a paper towel. The pizza was tasty and did its job. :) read more

The general manager is really unprofessional and argumentative. I ordered a pizza and requested they take off the anchovies but it came with anchovies it was really disgusting and the pizza was cold. We just moved to the area and we're looking for a good pizza joint. Saw Primo, ordered 2 large thin crust pizzas. When they say thin crust, they mean "cracker like flat bread crust" - almost no crust and very thin on the toppings. 5 people, 2 large pizzas and we're all still hungry. The pizza was good (not great) but for the money, it was just not very much food especially relative to other local pizza places. Owner was extremely rude. I paid for my food, went to my car, and looked at the receipt to realize they forgot to honor my coupon. So I went back inside and he rolled his eyes and refunded me the coupon amount. He shorted me a dollar and I politely let him know, and then he made a huge scene exclaiming how everybody makes mistakes and he started raising his voice. I told him I don't care about a dollar that much and said it's fine and he continued to yell. Everybody in the store was looking at me and his own employees were silent, sort of confused as to why he was acting like that. I am absolutely appalled about the whole situation and can't believe it actually happened looking back at it. All because of a dollar. The pizza itself was mediocre, too greasy for my taste though. You can see the grease in other reviewer's reviews quite easily. Nonetheless, I will never return to this establishment because of the disrespect I received. Also, why give out coupons if you don't want to honor them? You're trying to entice customers to come in, especially new ones like myself, and it worked. Very dry customer service - Owner was not smiling at all and gave us ugly looks. This is very disappointing as they should be excited that we are coming to their business rather than other businesses in the area. On the other hand, pizza dough was chewy and are using inexpensive cheese - not much flavor overall, very average. This was my first time here and I will definitely not return after the experience I encountered. Paid 45 dollars for two large very average pizzas .... very upsetting. I used to really like the Primo's that was in Oak Park (when I lived in Ferndale) but I'm just not impressed with this location. Firstly, the pizza is expensive, and it's really no better than Jet's or Green Lantern - in fact, it's worse than Jet's & Green Lantern. You get a better value without coupons at the other places. Secondly, they won't honor a coupon unless you have it in-hand. It's 2016, there are six pizza places within one square mile and you're going to fight me over a coupon with a $3-4 value? Please. I was tempted to leave my order there and walk. Thirdly, the service is lame. Both times I picked up pizza from this location, I got hassled over the coupon and the cashier was rude in general. Eye-rolling, sighing and general annoyance was abundant. Fourthly, much of their fancier beer doesn't have price tags. Oh, Primo's ... I'm a high school student right up the street, so that means dollar slices. Paired with a 99¢ Arizona, you can guarantee that Primo's is pretty much my place. I've literally never ventured anywhere except the perimeter of the store to grab a drink or the front counter to get a slice, so I can't comment on the selection of anything else (honestly, I don't even know what else they have). However, their pizza is quite tasty, and, honestly, that's all you need to know. Oh, actually, you probably should know that it's very, VERY easy to back into the big yellow pole that holds up their sign. And it's very, VERY expensive to fix that. read more

Simply the best pizza in the Bham area. Pizza is available in round or square. I recommend both...totally different flavors. The round is thin and more NYC style where the square is thick and robust. The key to their pizza has long been thought to be the pans. Primos has been around a long time and I think the pans may be close to original...makes for a great crust! Lastly, they are open late and serve a beefy slice for $1.50. Worth the 1:45 am drive by on the way home for sure. Oh, and hit their web site before you order...they have coupons. read more

Talk about delicious pizza! My friend and I spent a good half hour searching for the famous Primo's Pizza in Birmingham. I was hesitant because it's situated in an up-scale (granite counters and cute coolers) convenience store. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything about our pizza was perfect. I had a late night pizza craving so, I looked up places that were open late at night. Primo's came up as an option. I'm a huge fan of square pizzas so, I was really excited to have some. The pizza itself wasn't that great. The cheese and sauce weren't very flavorful and I also had Italian sausage on but it was flavorful. Having reviewed this place almost a year ago and now with a few more visits under my belt I feel fair in saying that the pizza just isn't as good as it was a year earlier. The pizza I had last night was underdone leaving the pepperoni par cooked and the pie itself had hardly any sauce on it, which is a bummer because their sauce is one of my favorites. The cheesy bread was very cheesy but again underdone. I did really like their chicken strips but they didn't pack my dipping sauce with them. All that said if I were to order here in future I'd be checking my order and asking for extra sauce and well done pies. read more

While Primo's has been around a long time, and their pizza is top notch, I have found the counter staff less than friendly when it was clear I was there to pick up a couple of slices rather than a full pizza. Never mind that when Shore mortgage was just down the street, I was a customer DAILY, small though my order was. They seem to TRY to treat me like rabble. I dunno if the it's just a matter of day staff and night staff having different attitudes towards the customers, but the number of times my order has bagged upside down (so the cheese sticks to the foil they wrap it in,) or that I got no corner piece (despite ordering multiple slices,) seems less than coincidental. Which is a shame, because A) repeat business is your bread and butter as a small business and B) I like the pizza and their well stocked beer cooler.
