I wish I could give more than five stars. I don't know why my friend wanted to go here. On the drive she was telling me that the food wasn't that good, yet, here is where she wanted to go. We were both incredibly happy with our meals. My patty melt was perfectly cooked. The onions were perfectly cooked albeit I would have liked more. I only had two pickles, but was able to get more by asking. The fries are the skinny variety and they were tossed with a seasoning making for a happy bite. The coleslaw is freshly sliced, and then tossed with their homemade coleslaw dressing, which is better than mine. Primrose is a tiny diner with an adjoining bar one can reach through a door connecting the two. There is outside sitting. I was laughing at my friend who opened up the wrong door entering the bar. She was told by a patron that the restaurant was next-door. She apologized, then closed the door to go in the other entry. There's a door with opening to both the restaurant and bar! Why couldn't we just walked into the bar? People are so bossy. We giggled about what boobs we humans are as we ate.

Both service and atmosphere isn't the most welcoming feeling on a Monday morning (10am). Service improved with a bigger smile when we were finishing up and leaving. Breakfast dishes were good but hard to get eggs, omelets, and hash browns wrong. Two out of the three water glasses and strange black specks in it so my kids revised to drink it. We still enjoyed our food. I'd recommend take out if you had no other choices.

Good food & polite employee. We were the only customers when we visited but don't judge the book by its cover.

Training can be a little hectic some times when you're in the service industry and sometimes it can slow service down. Our server Ben was on it. We had the grilled artichoke, chicken piccata, and the cioppino. All very very delightful. During our dining experience I needed to use the restroom. The smell in their bathroom was amazing. Probably one of the best smelling restrooms I had ever. When I was leaving, I politely ask the hostess if she knew what the name of the smell was bc it was so awesome. She wasn't telling me the exact name. She essentially told me the essence. While in the middle of her talking, a female manager aggressively told us that they were not aloud to tell patrons the scent. Hey, I get it, but as a person who was a manager for one of the highest ranking upscale casual dining restaurants, who has worked in 5 star resorts, knowing how to provide kindness to both guests and staff, this manager did not present those skills. This manager was quite frankly disrespectful not only to her staff, but to me. There is a way to handle situations without embarrassing your staff member and making them feel small and showcasing your flex of power to a diner who was about to drop hundreds for a dinner in our volatile economy. This manager did NOT handle this appropriately. Like i said, she was rude, extremely aggressive to respond, and not once smiled and said, "I'm so glad you love it. It's our secret to get you to come back." She did try to say it was a secret, but seriously... with the way she treated her staff.... I think she better focus on hospitality rather than the scent in the bathroom. After this interaction, I actually watched and observed the manager during the remaining time of our dinner. I wanted to see how she interacted with her staff. I wanted to see if she knew how to manage without flexing on her staff bc obviously she doesn't know that words matter and what you say and how you say it can make or break your staff's entire night which can reflect on how they treat their guests. I get this is lengthy over a restroom scent, but as a person who thrives on seeing the beauty in how a management team can make a huge impact on the success of a company, if she's openly rude and aggressive to me and her hostess, how is she with the rest of the staff and guests? Just a little food for thought. I will say, that interaction totally changed my view for the remaining time of our dinner. I truly hope that the female manager who was working last night June 1 reads this and changes the way she handles situations. From what I saw and experienced, she needs to take a step back and regroup. She needs to be retrained on how to treat her staff, how to smile with kindness, and how to kindly make a joke about the scent kindly with laughter rather than an attack on her staff. To the hostess: I'm sorry you had to be treated that way. You were incredibly kind from upon greeting us even to the very end. You're awesome. I'll return back, but I do hope next time, the manager from last night is on a better wave length as the people who help create her position. There are a lot of great managers out there willing to take that place.

The truth is I couldn't have imagined what an enjoyable meal myself and my two companions would be having. Having flown in from Seattle for work we were desperate to get away from the Hyatt Regency for a little bit better food. So I turned to yelp. As we walked inside you are immediately taken by the charming atmosphere. Everyone was so welcoming! From our amazing waiter Timmy to Misty our chef/owner. Every single dish was fantastic. From the French Onion soup with bone marrow, the Mac and cheese shareable, to the garlic bread with pesto.. But the entrees and desserts SHINED! I had the scallops while the other two had the 8oz hanger steak. Both steaks were cooked to perfection (rare and medium well) and the scallops were so buttery soft they melted in your mouth. The desserts was cheesecake with a raspberry gelee for one and a warm banana bread with ice cream and chocolate drizzle for the other. Even though we were all stuffed, the plates were worthy of a lick (although we restrained ourselves). So if you're ever find yourself in Huntington Beach and want to up your food game, come to this little gem. It won't disappoint. Will definitely be back next time!

While my kids ordered off the menu, my husband and I enjoyed the Mat Hatter Tea experience. My kids got the short rib pasta, the biscuits & gravy, and Italian Baked eggs, they enjoyed all of it! And of course I had to steal some of my son's baked eggs since I loved them so much from my last visit. The Mad Hatter's tea is not a traditional tea, but it was fun and different. It was reasonably priced and came with a glass of sparkling wine that you can enhance with a blue liquid (I believe it's a butterfly tea syrup) to change the color into a beautiful purple hue. The tea served is Tea Forte tea bags, rather than loose leaf teas. They do have the typical tea sandwiches, but there are also additional savory items like a cheese pinwheel and a cheese skewer. In addition to the scone and biscuit, they also had danishes and fruit. Wish they had cream for the scones, but they had jam and butter. Loved seeing all the groups dressed up for their tea parties in their fancy hats and having a great time.

Crispy calamari: Loved how lightly battered it was and it definitely was crispy. Also, the portion was pretty generous! It's good enough for 2-3 people for sure Kimchi fried arancini: We weren't sure what to expect with this dish despite the description, but we were pleasantly surprised. It reminded us of a potato ball with kimchi and spam inside. We loved the texture and flavor, and the fried egg aioli it sat on top of was great as well Gochujang pork belly: We wished the pork belly was just a bit crispier. The flavor was fantastic though! And while I understand the mashed potatoes are part of the fusion aspect, my husband and I both agreed that it would've been more amazing with rice instead, hahah Miso bacon carbonara: The udon texture was perfectly al dente and had such good bounce. I loved how creamy the sauce was too. However, I just wanted it so badly to be spicy! Some spice to this dish would've made it a 5/5 in my opinion Strawberry lychee ice cream: Meh. Compared to the delicious appetizers and entrees, this ice cream was just lackluster. No particularly strong flavor (even accounting for the fact that lychee is generally a weak flavor) and the consistency was more icy than creamy. Considering the price point ($10) for a scoop, I'd definitely not recommend it There's a decent amount of tables and it has a cozy feel inside. It can definitely get loud though since the sound bounces inside, especially when there's large/loud parties. The service was impeccable and our server was so quick and attentive. It runs a tad pricy, but I do feel like the quality of the food and service justifies it (minus the ice cream, lol). Overall, we had a great first experience and this place is definitely worth visiting :)
