My good friend swears by this place. Her and a mutual friend have a ritual of attending as much as they can get together. I have been invited a few times and cannot grasp the deep love they have for Prince. I have never made it to the buffet because its during my work hours but I have heard a lot of good things, minus it being packed. They have a full bar which is always a star in my book :) When you walk in you place your order with the cashier and give your name, go sit down and they'll call you to raise your hand and they'll bring it to your table. Their pizza is good, nothing amazing. Not too much sauce, thick greasy yummy cheese and a crunchy crust (not so crunchy you cut the roof of your mouth, ouch!). Garlic bread is generously covered with melted butter and garlic flavor, I am pretty sure I ate 80% of the basket. Starch and butter? I'm all over it. I'd come back next time my friend invited me, and if I ever have a day off during the buffet I'd check it out. I am not too interested in the pasta dishes because I just know it won't be anything like the authentic italian place in my neighborhood. read more

We went for the comedy night (Giggles) which was really funny. We all enjoyed the comedians and the show. The food was okay, nothing great. But a good snack while having a few drinks and watching the show. The staff at this place should really all take a class on how to treat people. So rude and for no reason. First run in was with a middle aged bartender that looked perpetually aggravated. Dude, the bar was not that packed, relax, you can smile a little. There was about 8 of us, all ordered drinks and line up against the wall to put our drinks and bags down. As everyone's opening wallets and getting ready to pay, the bartender leans over the bar "HEY WHO GOT DRINKS, COME ON!" waving us over. Everyone shocked, we just kind of looked at him like uhhh yeah, that's what we're doing. He again yells "COME ON GUYS, WHO GOT DRINKS BACK THERE LET'S GET THIS DONE, SQUARE UP". Are you kidding me? Did you think we were going to run or something? Not only completely unprofessional but seriously hair across his... so anyway. We go into the comedy show, it was funny. But here comes the next disappointing part, my friend ordered an Absolute and cranberry. She took a sip and made a face, passed it around to 2 friends, all made the same face. You get the picture, it was gross. My friend said to the server, "I don't know what it is, but its not Absolute and I'm good, I'll just get water." Much nicer than that sounds, but no big deal really. She wasn't upset, didn't make it a big deal. Then it starts, the server insists it's Absolute. Then the bartender comes over (during the comedy show?!!?) and starts questioning why she didn't like the drink. Bartender insists over and over it's Absolute. The bill comes, Absolute is still on there. Friend tells the server: It wasn't Absolute and I sent it back still full. Here comes the Manager: What was wrong with the drink? It WAS Absolute Friend: It was not what I ordered, it tasted funny, it wasn't Absolute. Manager: Continues to insist it IS Absolute but eventually takes it off the bill. The whole thing was ridiculous. We're not "those" people in a restaurant ever, the drink was bad. Why was that so hard to accept? Did you think we wanted 3 free sips of not Absolute and cranberry? It should have never been that drawn out. There's better places to go. read more

Food is good but I said hi to like all the workers and they didn't answer and it hurted my feeling

Generic basic food. The set up is weird. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Drinks, apps entrees and pizzas come out individually as they are ready. This means each time an item is ready, they call your name over the PA system and you raise you hand to get the servers attention. For our party of two, my name was called out four annoying times. This also means you and the people in your party may not be eating at the same time. I was also confused about drinks. I got my first beer served to me after ordering it initially at the front counter but if I wanted a second I think I was supposed to go to the counter in the back corner? It was so unclear that I didn't even bother. I wasn't sure where to go for a glass of water either. A couple people described the sauce in their reviews as tasting like it was from a can. It isn't (or probably isn't?) but I understand what they mean. The sauce lacks any real character or uniqueness. It's not gross or offensive in any way, it's just sort of generic. The toasted rav's were fine. The veal parm was ok. It's a real veal cutlet not that reformed crap. The meatballs are good. The salad bar is literally five things - iceberg, grape tomatoes and like pasta salad and three bean salad that really did look like it was from a can. There was something else as well but I forget what it was. The noise level is high. The floor is hard tiles like a hospital and with all the screaming children and the loud PA system... you get the idea. The price was high for what you got. The veal parm at $15 is reasonable but I can match that at a restaurant that's pleasant to dine in and has actual table service. I was going to go with only two stars but bumped it up because the veal and meatballs were decent and all the kids working there seemed to be busting their asses. read more

Came here with about 20 coworkers after work. Pretty large place. At the time we came, it was pretty noisy because half the restaurant was reserved for a girls softball league celebratory dinner. Started with the very spicy buffalo wings, followed by fried calamari. Buffalo wings were nice and spicy, but the calamari was rubbery. Pizza, however, was pretty good. We ordered 6 of the specialty pizzas. Pizzas were of medium thickness, but not doughy, but had a nice combination of crispiness and chewiness. My favorite was the scampi pizza with garlic, shrimp, olive oil, and no sauce. Kind of hectic inside, but a lot of locals have been coming here for years. Worth another visit! read more

Went here tonight with my son. The pizza was good, I kind of liked the funky set-up of ordering at the counter and waiting for someone to call your name. The pizza was tasty, so that's what this is about. Good pizza. Two things that'd make it better? 1. Make the set-up your schtick. It was confusing at best. Make it fun to be disoriented like that and it becomes charming. 2. Craft beer, lots of em, on tap. Only other thing I thought was a drag was the sheer terror of trying to get out of that place. Do not go here for pasta. I don't know how the pizza is but the pasta is just awful. I went here because I got lost trying to find another Italian restaurant. You order your food then sit down and they bring it over to you. I had chicken, broccoli, and ziti with a garlic & olive oil sauce. It had very little flavor and the broccoli was underdone. The only reason I gave it a two is because it was better than the worst chicken, broccoli, & ziti, which is at Sam and Joe's in Danvers. And the salad was fresh & crisp and the bread was good here. If you need to eat Italian on Rte. 1, go to Polcari's instead. It's not amazing, but it's decent and has some flavor. read more

Daughter and I go here as much as possible, but we're very disappointed in the food on Sunday night 11/11. Mozzarella sticks not fried, very little spaghetti with eggplant/chicken parm, buffalo wings small and lukewarm and hard. She and I were extremely disappointed with the quality of food. Pleasantly surprised by Prince. Been passing by that leaning Tower of Pisa my entire life and had never stopped. Here's what it is, at least on the Friday night that we visited: Large Busy Noisy Friendly Efficient Simple food, fresh, good quality, and generous portions Here's what it isn't Quiet Romantic Fancy So... if you've got kids and looking for a fun place for the family, you can't do any better than Prince. We ordered pizza, eggplant parm and spaghetti & meatballs. All were really good. Two small things stopped me from giving it 5 stars. First, the PA speaker was right above our heads and I literally jumped in my seat when the announcement were made. Incredibly loud. Some of their staff just need to work on their mic technique (it's a microphone, no need to shout into it). Second, I stepped over to the bar at the back to get a glass of wine and there was only one bartender. After standing around for almost 10 minutes I just walked away because my wife and daughter were ready to leave. With the amount of business they do in there I'm sure that they can afford a second bartender. Prince definitely gets my recommendation. We'll be back. read more

The most bland pizza I have ever had. I had high expectations given the reputation and elaborate outside decor. However, I was disappointed by the cafeteria format and what was eventually delivered to our table. My family and I ordered 4 pizzas with various toppings. They were easily the most flavorless pizzas I have ever had. Even my 8 year old complained there were no spices used. Seriously, the cheese, sauce, toppings, and even crust were somehow lacking any flavor. How can you make a bacon topped pizza and not even taste the bacon? The cafeteria approach forces you to return to the counter every time you want another drink or dessert. Not route 1 material. I've had New York pizza all my life. When I moved to Massachusetts I thought I left good pizza behind. I tried a TON of places around saugus, peabody, danvers, and salem until I finally found this place. The pizza here is the best around. It's fresh, it's high quality, and it's a good price. In all honesty I was here last year and since then the quality of pizza has severely declined. The pizza used to be covered in cheese with thick plump crust and now it's this thin crust lightly cheesed disaster. No where near the same robust flavor profile or coverage that I remember. The mozzarella sticks were an entire disappointment on their own, frozen mozzarella sticks with watery microwaved sauce. I imagine some severe cost savings have contributed to the quality drop off. But as a long time patron of this establishment it's both evident and heartbreaking. I hope to one day see the premier quality I grew up return until. I miss being properly seated at a table and served like a normal patron. They've changed the format to mimic a pizza buffet, similar to little Caesar's or sissi's. read more

From the casual atmosphere to the delicious pizza and the requisite post-pizza soft serve, Prince consistently delivers a great experience. I wish I could eat there every day. I'm motivated to write my first review after thoroughly enjoying another successful Prince trip last night and noticing the haters here on Yelp. If you're expecting a fine dining restaurant, the giant leaning tower out front should tip you off that Prince isn't about that. It's about friendship, pizza with a perfectly crispy and buttery crust, the occasional pitcher or two of BL, getting a soft serve regardless of how much pizza you just ate, and leaving happily (over)full. Nice family Pizzeria. I new to the Boston area. I live in Virginia but am orginally from Queens NY. (so you know how sensitive we are about pizza). However, this is the best pizza I've had in Boston thus far. And this is one of the most friendly as restaurants I've been visited. Staff is nice. It is a family run place- very warm - everyone's very engaging. They even have a comedy club next door. Struck up a conversation with the owner he was very nice guy his name is Steve. gave me a complementary salad. I enjoyed our conversation. The staoff was equally as kind. If you're looking for a place to take a family, friends or a large group , this is the place. You can laugh, let your hair down and not worry about disturbing other tables, this is is the place. AND I'm very happy with my choice. I ordered thru yelp which was super easy...delivery was fast, pizza was tasty. Definitely would order from here again. We came here on vacation for the lunch buffet on a weekday. It offered a few different toppings of pizzas, including a number of vegetarian/ pork free options. It really reminded me of the local family pizza joints I grew up with which was nice. The owner was friendly and immediately chatted with us about Italy as soon as we walked in the door. The price is right $6 for an all you can eat buffet. Unfortunately, the pizza is pretty below average at best, it tastes like an above average frozen pizza, but I don't expect a lot for a lunch buffet. Prince would NEVER get below 5 stars from me! I've been coming here for 20+ years. I love everything about this place! The salad bar with goldfish, the buttery crust of the pizza, the perfect fusion of cheese & sauce, the cozy bar setting - if you don't like it here, then I'm not sure you have working taste buds. We held every youth league soccer banquet here, most high school sports banquets and attended plenty of Giggles nights. I live in California now, but Prince tops the list of restaurants to hit when I'm back on the east coast. The one thing good about this place is that you can go with kids, spill drinks and eat till you burst at the seams. The only menu item I like is teh Hot & Spicy Pizza (sometimes on wheat). Other than that, this place is all quantity and somewhat quality. Your usual American-Italian fare without any fun-fare. After Steve Sweeny got hurled a bottle Molotov cocktail style at him at the adjoining giggles comedy club, I knew this was the happening place to be. So I went and I indulged. I stepped through the door and purveyed the menu even though I knew what I wanted. Not a wide selection, but a decent selection. I ordererd the veal parmgiana sub and a small 7 inch pizza. I went to the bar and waited for my food. I ate a ceasar salad while I waited, which was complimentary with the veal. I noticed the typical old school italian family style atmosphere. When the veal arrived, I immediately noticed the healthy portion of fries and and the healthy portion of veal. The veal was rich with marina sauce and rich with cheese. It met my expectations. The pizza was good, but since the place is a pizzeria, I expected a little bit better. I am always disappointed when a pizza place does not serve individual slices. I still prefer my other favorite pizza places and italian restaurants. But when I am in the area, I will be back. read more

Attended the "Giggles" end of the business for a baby shower. There was ample room for everyone to sit and the convenient stage for the mother to be. The tables were arranged well and there was more than enough seating - if you're looking to host an event here. The food was great! They had set up a full pizza, pasta, salad and extras buffet. The pizzas where perfectly cooked with a crisp crust. The toppings were fresh and evenly added to all slices. I loved the crispy chicken fingers and they were even better when is asked specifically for some ranch to dip! The waitress was very attentive, constantly made sure everyone had what they needed or wanted throughout the entire affair. The place settings had nice glasses and clean utensils. And if there were unused settings she made sure to clear them away to have room for those who were at that table. Quick to remove dirty dishes and unwanted leftovers.
