Bought a vehicle at Priority Toyota Hampton, but have been taking it to the Chesapeake location for service for over three years. Went in today for oil change and was told that when Priority Toyota Hampton was sold, they did not send my Priorities for Life information over, so I would no longer receive free oil changes and inspections. When you were able to take your vehicle to any Priority location, how is it now you don't have that information? I've also had similar situations like others have mentioned about being told something needed repair, only to find out from another shop that it wasn't necessary. I was once told I needed to replace my brake pads, as they were at the minimum, 4 mm. I drove the vehicle for another three months and went somewhere else to get new tires and told them I needed new brake pads. They called me after they inspected it and told me my pads where 7 mm on the front and 9 mm on the back and that my brakes were fine. It wasn't for another year until my brake pads wore down to 4 mm and needed to be replaced. I've had a scheduled appointment for an oil change and it was made known at the time that I would be waiting for my vehicle and ended up waiting four hours before my car was ready, when nothing else was done. You get a survey after having service and I gave low scores after receiving poor service, but never received a call or did someone inquire why I was dissatisfied with my service. Dealership offers you incentives to purchase your vehicle there, but go out of their way to find a way not to honor it. read more

You definitely did not make us a Priority. We came in to look at a car and ended up putting a deposit on a car that was not exactly what we wanted but was going to be coming in in a couple weeks. A couple days later we went to trade in our car at CarMax and while we were there we found the exact car we wanted and ended up buying it instead. After that I called in to ask if we were able to get our deposit back and was told "yeah, just come in and we can go over it". When we came in you made us wait 45 minutes just to tell us no we cannot get it back even though on the phone you made it sound like we could. The car isn't even in the lot yet and can easily be sold again in todays market. I will definitely not be doing any business here again. read more

Service Department will lie to your face. If you ask them if a service they recommend is actually recommended by the manufacturer and isn't just a dealer recommendation, they will tell you it is even if it isn't. If you go here for maintenance I suggest you bring a copy of the recommended service PDF for you vehicle and mileage. It even lists all of the alternative recommendations for severe usage. The service advisors here will recommend whatever services pad their commission. I don't even know if they could tell you what Toyota actually recommends if you don't bring it with you. read more

Less than six months later I had some issues with the gas needle and the wireless charger. Setting up an appointment for that on the site was difficult. I decided to wait to have the first tire rotation to have it looked at. They said it would be a while. I asked for a loaner considering my car's age and mileage. They told me 45 dollars for a car rental. 3.5 hours later and counting I'm still waiting. I guess I expected what I had with my Honda care and Honda service team- who were amazing in three states I had my vehicle seen. You live and learn. My next car will not be a Toyota. read more

For starters, i like it that i can drive in early in the morning without any appt and get taken care of. One the advantages of a big dealership. Arrived before 8am. The waiting lounge is huge with a cafeteria complete with eggs to order. Breakfast at around $5 is a great deal. Wow! On to the business at hand..:requested 1. fuel system cleaning 2. Radiator/coolant flush 3. Asked how much it would cost to get my third seat unstuck from the floor. I said i need to know cost before any work is done. Left my vehicle to get breakfast. Got a call around 10 am. The seat handle repair will cost $310. I said no. Got a voicemail at 11am van is ready for pick-up. I Went to dealership and paid my bill. I asked the service advisor if a shuttle was still available. She said yes. Comments/feedback i live in LynchburgVA. About 5 hours away but i come here to va beach once a month. I try to get my van serviced at Priority whenever i have a chance and today was one of them. Overall it was an okay experience albeit in the end i paid extra. 1. I was never offered a shuttle when i dropped off my van. Nor when they called my van was ready. 2. I was charged for $89.95 for the diagnostic for my stuck bench seat. My service advisor repeatedly claims that she told me about this charge. However, had it been the case i would have said no. Bottom line i was out of $89.95. I did get some military discount but those two negative items cost me extra. I really felt stupid because this could have been easily solved. I had a 10 o'clock appointment for my daughters Corolla to have just oil change done. as I sit in the lounge at priority Toyota reading the 52 reviews I noticed that most of the negative reviews are regarding the amount of time for a simple oil change, I must agree that over 2 hours for simple maintenance unrealistic. After two hours I finally realize why they have such a nice lounge and snack bar. It's like charging for food on the lifeboat, you have no choice! they probably make half the money just off the snack bar. Next time I think I'll just pay out-of-pocket for an oil change and buy a car from another dealer. The time you waste is not worth the effort of a free oil change. Drop my daughters car off for oil change. Aaron in the service department did not represent priority Toyota in a good light. When my daughter picked up her car, Aaron told my daughter that I had authorize the 80,000 mile service. This is untrue and a complete lie! I never authorized anything other them the oil change to be done on the car. The vehicle does need the 80,000 mile service and they completed it, we paid the bill, but in order to get business don't lie and say somebody told you to do something that was not authorized. If you don't want to feel like a priority and more of a customer on an assembly line, then go here. I had my headliner replaced and have had to return my vehicle four times due to the headliner not installed correctly. I've tried contacting the service manager (Adam) and am still awaiting return calls from him (after two voicemails in a two week period). Ironically, my service rep calls me back once I leave a VM for Adam, as if he is too busy to be bothered by a customers concern. Although the service rep is doing the best he can, it's frustrating when I'm being told something is fixed and you can visibly see it isn't. You really get what you pay for with the "free" oil changes and inspections for life. Even with an appointment, you have to wait, at minimum, two hours before your vehicle is looked at. DO NOT COME HERE!!!! We came in for an oil change. The time we arrived was 11:18 and at 1:01 we went to ask how much longer it would be because it had been almost 2 hours and Michelle argued with us saying that we have only been there for an hour and our truck hasn't even been brought to get worked on yet and had a very rude and disrespectful attitude towards us the whole time. I have never experienced such horrible customer service and then we asked for the truck back since it was taking so long and she rolled her eyes at us saying "Whatever miss, I will have your truck pulled around to the front". read more

Made an appointment for a priorities for life oil change. Indicated I would be waiting for it. Showed up 25 minutes before my scheduled appointment time to wait in a line for over 35 minutes just to have a service advisor tell me they're busy and it'll take at least 3+ hours. When I complained I was told that it wasn't the businesses fault, they didn't have what they needed for my vehicle because it's a Ford and this is a Toyota dealership. Funny thing is, a week or so ago when I made the appointment online there was no mention of this. You'd think that a week would be plenty of time to get the parts needed for an oil change. I was also told that my appointment time was not a time scheduled to take my car into the service bay that it was just a time for me to check in. Straight up BS. I bought my 2014 Hyundai Sonata new from Priority and my 2019 Ford F150 new from Priority. I will not be buying my next vehicle from a Priority dealership because apparently it's a sales gimmick and the game is to make it too difficult to actually get the Priorities for life they promise you with every vehicle. This is the second time I've been back for my brakes. They told me that I needed my rotors resurfaced and new rear brakes on my first visit. After I get home I noticed that the brakes were squeaking. When I brought it back the rotors were never resurfaced. What a scam. I payed for that service and they tried to skip out on doing the rotors and tried to rip me off. BEWARE!!! read more

We are extremely disappointed with the service department at Priority Toyota of Chesapeake. We have bought 2 cars and have services done here the last 11 years. We brought in our 2012 Camry for maintenance on September 13th, and were originally told $350, they said our oil was a little low. We brought it in before the 5000 miles like we always do?? The service advisor said she was changing our frequency to every 3000 miles because of how old the car was. We went to the dealership to wait for the car and was then told they found a problem with the timing gear, and it would be $1600, which was discounted for 1/2 labor cost. The problem now was the part was on back order until the end of the month (September). We asked Toyota if they would provide a loaner car, they said no but we could rent a car from them. We rented elsewhere, as it was cheaper. I emailed the service advisor on October 6th for an update and we didn't hear back from her until October 11th , because she was out sick. Mind you we are still paying on a rental car which was due back October 14th. She said that there was a part showing in New York, and that she was going to check with parts and would let me know within the hour. I didn't hear anything from her. I texted her the next day, and again I got a response "will check and let you know". I again didn't hear from her. I emailed her on the 13th asking for an update on the part as the rental was due back on October 14th. She responded back that "when she spoke to me" that we are not getting the part from New York. No, you never spoke to me. I have phone records, and the only call I got was on October 11th. Update was still no part. I had to extend the rental car again until the end of the October. This is now 7 weeks paying for a rental which is now going to cost just as much as the repair itself. We ask for another update, still no part. At this point, we are beyond frustrated. We asked if Toyota would be willing to provide a loaner car so we don't have to continue hemorrhaging money out for the car rental. The service advisor called and spoke to my husband. She said the part would not be available now until November 1st, and she could not get authorization for a car loaner. My husband expressed the frustration and disappointment we had with Priority at this point, as we have been loyal customers for the last 11 years and we just expected better from them. I got an email the next morning that Toyota was going to provide us a car until the part came in and now we were on top of the list for that part. Finally something good. The NEXT day, we get a call from the service advisor stating the timing belt also needs to be replaced and it was additional $2100! I asked if this was covered under the Engine for Life priority. The response was because the vehicle was found so low on oil, this was considered customer pay, that engines for life covers internal failure of lubricated engines. We brought the car in within the 5000 miles, which we were told was good because it was synthetic oil. They JUST told us that it needed to be changed to every 3,000 miles. So it ended up costing us $4000+ in repairs and $1500 in car rental fees, $5500 total. This was on top of the $1650 we paid for maintenance on my highlander right before this incident. I cannot express the disappoint we have with Priority Toyota of Chesapeake. We were looking to purchase a new vehicle, but unfortunately after this, we've lost ALL confidence in Priority Toyota of Chesapeake and there "Guaranteed for Life" services. Updating my review, whatever you do, do not go to this place. While I was deployed my pregnant wife with our 1 yo daughter took our vehicle to this place to get the differential fluid changed. Her appointment was at 1000, she got a notification at 1400 saying they were now working on it, and she was out of there at 1600. 8 fucking hours later! Not only that, the bill to bleed and service the differentials were $537. Not only am I getting fucked while deployed, but this place decided to scam my family without hesitation. I'm a DYI'er and it maybe takes me an hour and some change to do it. And if your service department is completely slammed, maybe don't schedule so many people in a day (Use your fucking brain). Whatever you do, do not take your vehicle here to get it serviced. If you're about to purchase a vehicle from here and if they're selling you the priority forever crap, just have them drop it, and purchase your vehicle for cheaper! I have had it with the crappy way Joe S. talked down to myself and everyone I witness him speaking too. I get told differently depending on which service tech I speak with, but Joe S. is by far the worse. Hey Joe, without the customers you don't have a job. Try being less bitchy and offer helping words...wow, what a novel idea. They put a mileage sticker in my window, then did not honor the oil change when i reached that mileage. Now being told that's just to show you have a 5000 mile service needed. WHAT??? They try to push every possible flush or service they offer. Even telling one lady she NEEDED her headlights reconditioned. Cha-Ching!!! I'm at the point of going elsewhere and paying for my oil services. I have used them for maintenance a few times five things stick out the most....1) I paid for a tire rotation and they did not do it, service advisor said it was done but I proved to him it wasnt. 2) I left my truck there for 10 hours for scheduled maintenance, when I went to pick it up, it was in the same parking spot, so that wasn't done, they said they never got the key out of the drop box ? 3) They said I had an oil leak but couldn't find it, I paid $ 100 for them to put die in the oil, and there never was an oil leak. 4) I had an inspection, and they said I needed a fog lamp to pass inspection. I told them I think it was just a loose connection and to check that... we did check. I was told. I paid $247 because they wouldn't pass it, I had to have a new lamp put in. I told them I wanted the old lamp took it home and it works fine. 5) There was one other issue they did but denied it. They did say they would take care of it. This 1 star would be no stars if I could. This is specifically for the service dept. My car purchase experience here was great - no complaints. However, I have no desire or incentive to purchase from here again or return for service based on my experience today. The "free oil change and state inspections for life" will cost you dearly in time & sanity. I would rather spend the money to have the same services done in 30 min than spend another 4.5 hours to get those things done again. I even had an 8am appt and was there in line by 7:30am. I was one of the first 10 cars to arrive. After 4 hours & multiple times asking for a status update (!!!), I finally had to ask for my car back even if the state inspection wasn't complete. They told me they were "writing the sticker" & it would just be another 10-15 min. 20 min later, they tell me my car was ready. Then, they told me they had actually done the inspection on someone else's car and not mine by mistake. I was livid after waiting 4.5 hours for ONLY an oil change at this time. The excuse I got from the employee was that they were one of the largest dealerships on the east coast & they're short staffed. If your company is so short staffed that your customer service suffers so severely, you need to reevaluate your business model immediately. The last thing an upset customer should hear when verbalizing a customer service complaint are excuses that aren't the customer's problem. My car is then pulled up for me & I see the state inspection WAS done despite being told a minute ago that it wasn't?! These people have no idea as to what is going on here. I will never give Priority any future business, not even for free services. Unfortunately, I spent money on an extended warranty when I purchased my car here. Why would I have any confidence in this business after today's experience & excuses? I will gladly take my future car buying and servicing elsewhere. I'm a senior armed forces officer mobilized to the Tidewater area including COVID-19 response. I had a safety recall on my Tacoma and decided to resolve that and get a substantial service simultaneously at Priority Toyota of Chesapeake. Service took all day and entailed taking off my after market wheels/tires. Wrapping up the service, the technician lost my locking lug nut key. Spent 12 hours at the service department that ended up with search until 7:00 pm in the garage to no avail - they lost my lug nut key. I then had wheels/tires that could not be removed in the event of road hazard - not pleased. The service rep provided a contact number and indicated they would remedy the situation. He did not contact me and after several calls & text messages unanswered the few days after my first service, I contacted the service manager. She scheduled an appointment for me the following Saturday (7 days after initial service) to get replacement locking lug nuts installed. I provided the service rep a URL link to the exact lug nut set I had as well as three photos of them still on my wheels. I was assured they would have everything ready for my appointment the following Saturday. Service manager indicated she would call me back to confirm and never did. I returned the following Saturday at my appointment time and walked around the garage door looking at my truck. It sat unattended for the majority of the time I was there until I was informed by the shop manager they were able to remove my locking lugs but did not have replacements at the shop. I had waited 3 hours at this second visit and now ended up with standard lugs on all 4 wheels. Met with service department manager who apologized and indicated it took that long to ensure my wheels weren't scratched. Pretty much a bold-faced lie as I watched the work duration on my truck myself. The following week (this is now week 3 of my experience), I was again not contacted and had to make multiple communications with both service rep and shop manager until I was eventually reassured the parts were ordered and ready for installation. I came back a third time and finally my locking lug nuts were replaced. I understand accidents happen and my key was lost. The lack of communication and internal miscommunication was completely unsatisfactory. Once I completed the first service, I received no "priority" to be "made whole" as a result of the service department's error. The service manager had no interest in resolving my issue or ever offered any sort of reparation to attempt to keep me satisfied and a customer. I only requested proactive communication with me during the resolution which I never received - I initiated 100% of the required communication to resolve the situation. My overall experience was exceptionally frustrating. Not only would I not patronize this dealership again for service or a purchase, but I would exercise my senior military position to influence other Tidewater service members to completely avoid Priority Toyota of Chesapeake and if they needed Toyota dealer service or wanted to buy a vehicle, I will encourage them to patronize competitor dealerships in the area as a result if my treatment and overall experience. Like many other customers, subsequent to posting this review I received the "canned" email response from Amber requesting me to please contact her since Priority Toyota of Chesapeake is interested in communicating with me on the matter. Regretfully, there was little interest in contacting me during my service experience which is the primary reason I decline contact and retain my original rating. Saw a used vehicle for sale on TrueCar that is sold by this dealership. Later on that day I checked on TrueCar and the listing was gone. Called the dealership and ask if the vehicle is still available and told them the listing is gone. I was assured that the car is still available and was told yo come by to look at it and it will be ready. I had to drive an hour and a half to get to this dealership. As soon as I parked I get a notification from TrueCar that the vehicle I'm interested in was sold already but I was like what the heck I'm already here. Met with the associate and pretended to look for the car. After a 10-15 minute wait I was informed by the associate that the car is getting serviced so It won't be available today and was recommended to look at different cars not knowing that I know the car has been sold already. I would've looked at different cars if the associate did not lie through her teeth and just told me straight up and not wasted my time. I mean I get it dealership will do anything to get customers through the door but dang how do you build a business based on lies? If they lie about this little thing, I can just imagine what else they lie about (pricing,warranties, etc etc) I do not recommend this place. Shop at your own risk. read more

I bought my Toyota Rav4 in40000 2015 . All has been well until May2021 when the carwould not start. I had it towed to the dealer. They kept it 10 days and charged me$770.00 . If you want to SERVICE your new car at Priority, RUN RUN RUN!!! i've had to have my NEW Highlander in for as many as 3 times for the same service (oil change/tire balance and rotation). Job sounds simple enough, right? But no. It took THREE times for the service department to change the oil, rotate and balance the tires! Service Manager was ineffective, overworked, and seemed frazzled. They way overbook, oversell extras, insist work was completed that wasn't without even checking. Quality control and proper training are sorely inadequate. No attention to detail to make sure the job gets done right the first time. The team made a mistake on my registration paperwork that ended up costing me $400 in a plane ticket and time off of work to correct. I requested that the issue be escalated to upper management and I have yet to even get a call from them. This part is really frustrating because before I bought the vehicle the calls/text/emails happened daily. Based on this experience I truly wish I had taken my business elsewhere. read more
