NBA Game 1 2026 playoffs, check the food pics! Also GSG! The bar was good but the service and food (thumbs down)

We came here on our way back from San Diego as I heard that it was a place and family friendly. You order your food at the front and then it's delivered to your table. We ordered the rodeo nachos, bbq chicken salad and the tri tip sandwich. The rodeo nachos were alright with the pulled pork being the highlight. They were better than most nachos as almost every chip was topped. The bbq chicken salad was disappointing. The chicken was breaded and I thought didn't go well with the salad. The tri tip sandwich was ok. Some pieces were flavorful and moist while others a bit dry, but the fries were amazing! In order to get a drink you have to order from the bar and since there was only one person behind the bar the day I went there was a constant line and I didn't feel like waiting. I did see where if you're a Carlsbad resident they have 50% off local beer.

Place was hoppin. Line dancing upstairs and a live band downstairs. One counter for beer and another line for food. Fish and chips were tasty. Lots of sauce choices for the wings.

Smash burger and Surf N Turf tacos

Nice lovely atmosphere. The smash burger could have used more smash as it tasted more like a regular cheeseburger and the fries could be crispier. The surf Tacos had both the steak and lobster on each taco which was unique and would have preferred them to be seperate. Can use inKind for savings.

Really bummed on the "smash burger", not at all what was advertised and seemed like it was just two frozen patties, definitely not a smash burger. They loaded it in mustard and called it a day. The surf & turf tacos were good though, and service was fine as well. We may give it another shot in the future with hopes of a better experience.

We had such a fantastic family outing at PRK 101! This place is the perfect kid-friendly spot right in Carlsbad Village. The outdoor setup with picnic tables, open air, and plenty of sunshine made it feel like a relaxed backyard hangout by the beach--super casual and welcoming for little ones. The staff was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and genuinely great with kids. They made sure we had everything we needed and even chatted with our children, which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. The food was delicious (love the tri-tip and shareable plates), the vibes were chill with that coastal-country mix, and there's tons of space for the kids to move around without feeling cramped. Highly recommend for families looking for good eats, sunshine, and top-notch service. We'll definitely be back! Food Service Ambiance

Surf and turf tacos were seriously lacking. Very little lobster, not to mention this is not tri tip

The staff inside were great. The food staff were rude - I ordered surf and turf tacos, which were supposed to come with tri tip. I told the cashier this looked like ground beef. She told me they don't even have ground beef (they have burgers lol) and I could talk to the manager if I wanted. For $24 lobster and "tri tip" tacos, it's pretty lacking and incredibly dry. I understand they were busy but it was disappointing at best.

Smoked Tri - Tip Tacos. Lots of flavor. Good dish.

This restaurant tries to be a lot of things to a lot of different people and it mostly succeeds. It's located in downtown Carlsbad and attracts all types of guests: tourists, families with little kids, people with their dogs, guys and their drinking buddies, gals and their girlfriends, even, possibly, that rarest sight of all, cougars in the daytime. Basically, everybody. There's a huge screen in the main outdoor seating area for sports watching. There's a fire pit. The deck upstairs is exclusively for adults (definitely more drinking than eating takes place up here, but you can eat, too). There's live music at times. And even line dancing, apparently. What about SCUBA classes? What time are the Lamaze classes for expectant mothers? You wait to be seated and then you are on your own. You order all of your food and drinks at the bar and then it's all brought out to you. You get your own water from a giant water jug at the bar. Looking for salt or pepper? Good luck. There is none on the tables and there are no servers here. Just the folks who bring your food. Everyone orders the enormous fresh pretzel with mustard and a strange gooey cheese dip for an appetizer and I can recommend it. Of course, ours was brought with our entrees instead of as an actual appetizer, which is a restaurant fail. Don't bother letting your server know this because he/she doesn't exist. The menu leans heavily toward BBQ--because, why not?--but I would strongly recommend getting something else. The pulled pork was tender but basically flavorless (and don't even think about trying that wannabe ketchup BBQ sauce on the side). The jalapeño cheddar sausage was milder than baby food. The mac and cheese looked great but had zero seasoning. In fairness , the baked beans were fantastic. Apparently, not only is there no salt or pepper on the tables, there is none in the kitchen, either. The Tri-Tip tacos were very nice. You get three with your order. The Hot Honey Margarita tasted like a nice margarita. It supposedly had peach and hot honey syrup in it but I wouldn't bet on it. Apparently, you can also order lobster rolls from the little side restaurant just outside the entrance because every good BBQ joint should offer lobster, too. If you're coming to watch baseball or UFC, have beers with the bros, eat non-offensive food in the sun with your kids and dogs, or catch up with your girlfriends, this is a solid choice. Order beers, nachos, and pretzels and bring your own salt and pepper shakers. Stick with the basics. If you're coming for BBQ or serious cooking, or if you're a crazy person and believe an appetizer should arrive before the entree, go directly to jail and do not pass Go. Honestly, I really wanted to like their BBQ, especially at these prices. At least we tried. P. S. I wouldn't know for sure but this doesn't seem like ideal hunting grounds for cougars.

While visiting the Carlsbad area, my husband, daughter, her friend, and I stopped by Prk 101 to watch a football game. The venue offers several seating options, outdoor tables downstairs, an upstairs patio, and indoor dining. We chose to sit upstairs, where there were both fire-pit lounges and regular high and low-top tables. TV screens were visible from every angle, and the overall atmosphere was lively and full of fans sporting their favorite team jerseys. It was definitely the energetic sports vibe we were hoping for. We all ordered drinks and food at the upstairs bar. Unfortunately, they were out of many beers on tap. We ended up getting Micheladas, an Estrella Jalisco, and a Moscow Mule. For food, we ordered the Cowboy Cavier, a pretzel, and smoked wings in both lemon pepper and sweet Thai chili. The food arrived fairly quickly. The pretzel was supposed to also come with cheese sauce, but we were told it wasn't ready. When the cheese sauce still didn't arrive, I asked another server, who immediately went and grabbed the sauce for us. The Cowboy Cavier was good but could have used a bit more flavor. The wings had a nice smoky taste, but the lemon pepper seasoning was barely noticeable. Overall, the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted but the limited beer selection especially during a game day was a bit disappointing.

Came here for a random Sunday night as I was in the area and heard some things about this spot. Definitely a very fun spot to be at with an upstairs area and a nice outdoor patio. Seating was a little weird but could have been the timing. We were sat down but then told to order drinks at the bar which was perfectly fine but when we got up to do that, we came back to see our seats were taken. Wasn't the biggest issue but surely not expecting. This is a Buffalo bills fan bar so took some photos of their specialties and there even is a can of beer that is super cheap and many people were getting cause of it. Didn't have any food so not sure how that is but selection of drinks were good.

Noisy for happy hour but the food was great. We had a private party on the balcony and all went well. Recommended, but parking is very difficult.

The tacos are big and delicious (I preferred the pastor taco over the birria one). The Docent Bowl was incredibly fresh and probably healthy (don't miss the excellent housemade kimchi), and the chicken salad sandwich with tots on the side was delightful. This is real restaurant food and it is very good. The beers are served in these gorgeous goblets and they do flights with very generous pours. I liked all of the beers I tried, especially the darker and boozier ones. When your food order is ready, you receive a text, and then head to the back left side of the rear patio, where the kitchen is located. This is a sign of a business that cares about its workers so thumbs up. Kid friendly, good music on the sound system, plenty of seating, good beer, great food, and free parking. I'm a fan.
