When it was my turn, the employee asked what I needed, and I explained that I wanted the check engine light scanned. He handed me the scanner and told me to do it myself. I explained that I didn't know how and asked if he could assist me, as AutoZone employees have helped me with this service many times over the years. Before helping me, the phone rang. He took the call and left me standing there waiting while he remained on the phone for an extended period of time. When another employee, Max, became available, I asked if he could please help me. His response and attitude were extremely disappointing. He told me that checking the vehicle is only done as a "courtesy" and essentially said that he did not want to do it. I found his demeanor rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. The way I was treated also left me feeling as though prejudice may have played a role, which made the experience even more upsetting. After being a loyal AutoZone customer for more than 30 years, I should not walk into a store asking for basic assistance and leave feeling disrespected and refused service. Someone in management needs to look into the customer service at this location, particularly my interaction with Max. To make a long story short: I came in for help with my check engine light and left without receiving the assistance I requested. Save yourself the trip. Went in twenty minutes early and waited for someone to come out. Usually a service person would come out and check the mileage with a clipboard. No one came out. So I went in and at least got a nod, we'll be right with you. At last, "What did you need?" I said I have an appointment for an oil change. We won't have it done till 5:00. FOUR hours?! Those were perfectly fine. I had dropped one of the bulbs into the engine and couldn't find it or get it out. I went into the store and asked Rodrigo for help and luckily he had a magnet that helped get the bulb out. He went above and beyond. After that I couldn't get to the regular headlight and he helped show me where I can change them from so I wouldn't have to remove anything crazy from my car! He really saved my life that day!!!! After taking delivery, we discovered that the AC was not working, there was a significant dent in the fender that had been missed, and the vehicle was not as clean as I would have expected. Needless to say, that was frustrating and took away from the excitement of getting the car. That said, Kia Garden Grove has gone above and beyond to make things right. They provided a loaner vehicle, arranged to have the dent repaired, fixed the AC issue, and even delivered the EV9 back to me while picking up the loaner on the return trip. The staff has been professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout the process. I am still bummed about the initial condition of the EV9, but I really appreciate how they handled the situation and stood behind the customer experience. Overall, amazing service and a great team. I would just hope the vehicle inspection and delivery prep process improves so future customers don't run into the same issues.

Najwa was my sales consultant, and the interaction initially went well. The vehicle was ready when I arrived, she was informative, and the test drive was straightforward. During the test drive, we discussed the sales process, including some of the practices I prefer to avoid as a customer. I explained that I also work in sales, and we verbally agreed that we would keep the process straightforward and avoid unnecessary sales tactics. After I expressed that I was interested in purchasing the vehicle, Najwa explained that another sales consultant would be joining us to finalize the deal. At that point, the price presented to me was approximately $10,000 higher than the price I had seen advertised online. I was told that the difference was due to dealer-added features. I explained that I did not want the additional features and that I was interested in purchasing the vehicle at the advertised price. There was then a lengthy discussion about the pricing. I was told that the additional charges were simply part of the dealership's process. After I expressed my dissatisfaction, Najwa and the other consultant stepped away and returned with a proposal reflecting the original advertised price, without the additional $10,000 in charges. This was the most frustrating part of the experience. If the advertised price could ultimately be presented without the additional charges, it would have been much more effective to provide that pricing from the beginning rather than presenting a substantially higher price and negotiating back to the advertised amount. Afterward, Najwa told me, "I don't know why you're getting upset--you know how sales works." I do understand how sales works, which is why I found the experience particularly disappointing. I understand that dealerships have sales procedures and that salespeople are expected to follow them. However, transparency and consistency in pricing are important, especially when a customer has specifically asked for a straightforward transaction. Ultimately, I decided not to purchase the vehicle from this dealership. The vehicle itself was what brought me in, and the initial interaction was positive, but the way the pricing was presented and handled changed my decision.
