Went in bc my brakes were making a metal scraping noise. Raul explained and showed me what was going on. They are nice. They replaced my brake pads but they did it incorrectly. It didn't feel right and I took it into my dealership and they corrected it. So why 5 stars if they did it wrong? I went back to Raul, told him what happened and he gave me a partial refund. I believe his practices are solid and not trying to sell you things you don't need. His prices are reasonable. Brought my Corvette in for clutch repair. I willspecifically requested a stage 2 clutch. Raul took it upon himself to install a stock clutch. The clutch works. The problem I have is with all the problems I have with my car now that their mechanics went joyriding, wrecked the car, ran it out of gas, burned all the rubber off of my brand new tires. Raul took it upon himself to fix things I didn't request without asking. I brought it back (big mistake) to make it run right again. It now had traction control issues and then he said it needed a new fuel pump that I had to order because he was too lazy) After 3 months, I couldn't take it anymore and came to pick it up. The leather inside is ruined from leaving windows down. Scuff marks in the paint. I told him I had to take it to a repair shop that could work on a car. Raul is the most honest repairman that I will ever find in my life. I wanted to put that line first, as that's one of my most valued attributed of a business. I would happily hand him a blank check for work, and know that I would not be cheated. I first discovered Professional Auto Repair back in 2011 when I moved to Sunnyvale from out of state. In 2019 we moved out of the Bay Area, and this business is (quite literally) the first I miss. He is perfectly competent, and has never had trouble solving any problem I've brought him through three vehicles. He also is surprisingly affordable. In the few instances I have gotten multiple quotes for work (such as replacing brake pads), Raul has done the work for considerably less than the competition. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, and I could not more strongly recommend Professional Auto Repair to anyone else. read more

My experience was not satisfactory at all. Took my vintage Chevy pickup in to pack the front outer wheel bearings. The work they did was shoddy & half assed. Every mechanic was taught in high school auto shop 101 how to properly pack wheel bearings as their first lesson. I got as far as Tracy when the left front bearing gave out damaging the spindle. After much time & effort the truck was repaired in Tracy with hundreds of dollars spent by me to get back on the road. This is the by far one of the most honest and reliable auto repair businesses in the south bay. I needed a new starter and Raul was one of the only shops (I called several) willing to give me a quote over the phone, and THE ONLY one to give me a super low quote of $240, parts and labor. Of course I heard, $300, $600, $800, even $1200 tossed out there for possible repair costs from other spots, so of course I took it to Professional. Appearance and guest accommodations are something to be left desired here, but when I'm getting my car fixed honesty and service are my top priorities, and they are the top priorities of Raul's as well. Been here twice on extra last-minute drop-ins. Both times, Raul and his staff treated me with upmost respect despite my dingy car and checked out my car thoroughly for problems without any complaints. They seem to understand very well with old cars, there's the part about considering how much the car is worth vs. how much fixing it would cost. Neither trip led to any repairs or charges but they were super patient and explained potential issues that could be causing my engine light to trip (computer code did not yield anything). The clutch on my Subaru WRX was pretty much fried, so I took it in to the dealership to have them give it a look. After charging me $150 to diagnose it, they said it would probably be about $2000 to repair, give or take. That was a bit more than I was really hoping to spend, so I looked around on Yelp and found Professional Auto Repair. I called them up and spoke to Raul, who over the phone gave me an estimate of $850, and when I took the car in, he drove it around the block a few times and gave the same cause as what Subaru had to tear it apart for. I dropped it off at 9:30, he called me back at 10:30 to give the final quote at $780 (less than his estimate) and called me again at 4:30 the same day to say that it was all fixed up and good to go. Look carefully at the reviews. The only two people who gave Raul less than five stars did so only because of the appearance of the repair shop. Yes, IT LOOKS LIKE A REPAIR SHOP. There are parts everywhere and cars everywhere. Who cares?? There are only two things I care about when it comes to getting my car repaired: 1. Honesty and a fair price (hard to come by for car repairs). 2. Quality of work done. I have brought no less than four cars to Raul over the years (maybe more) and each time, he is honest and straightforward. One time he recommended that I NOT repair the car because it wasn't worth it. How many people are going to take business away from themselves because it's the honest thing to do? That speaks volumes. Is the work done on time? Usually. Occasionally it takes a little longer because Raul is looking for used parts. I appreciate this because new parts are much more expensive. They are easier to find, but often cost two to ten (yes, TEN) times as much as used parts. But the savings are so significant that you might literally jump for joy. Case in point: recently my car was rear ended by someone, and the insurance was wiling to pay about $3000 for the repairs (body work plus painting). Raul did the body work for $750 and I got the paint done elsewhere for $600. Total cost: less than half what the insurance company offered. I told them I could do it for that price, but they said no, we're paying you what our estimator said. So I got to have Raul's quality and reliability AND pocketed about $1700 for my trouble. Bottom line: you will not find a better price for auto repairs in this area, and you will not find someone more honest than Raul to tell you if you actually need the work done. I needed to get my breaks changed and most auto spots are charging well over 500 dollars to change breaks front and back. This place only charged me about 200 dollar even and they did a pretty damn good job at it also.
