Wtooped here to eat dinner last night as there was a menu item that I had been craving but its very difficult to find places that make it. I went in around 6pm and they where hosting a party on one side of the restaurant, I believe it would have been better to close the whole restaurant for the event since regular customers were given a small side of the otherwise small restaurant. Though we were served as quickly as possible it was still crowded with party guests. The waitress came over and took our drink and food orders. I had asked for an Horchata and an order of Pollo Frito con Tajadas (fried chicken over a bed of plantain chips and shredded cabbage). The drinks came out quickly but the food took between 25-30 minutes to come out. Even then it came out in portions snd not all at once for my group of three. My food also came out a little different than what was shown on the menu with all the sauces on the side but instead it came with it already all over the food. Normally I don't enjoy the red sauce as much and would have preferred it not on the dish. My groups other meals took more time to come out and they had some issues with what they had ordered. I believe ir was because of the party that they were all distracted. Overall I will have to come try again 4/5 read more

This was my first visit. I have not had Honduran food so my Honduran friend who is also visiting Brooklyn asked me to come with her. I had the filleted fish with rice and salad. The food was good, but I am used to food with a lot of spices and some heat. Honduran food is not spicy, but I am glad that I tried it. The food is cooked fresh so you will wait a few minutes. The prices are very reasonable and budget friendly. The staff speaks little to no English so either speak the language or have a translation tool. read more

I came here last night as recommended by my best friend when I was in search of some "homemade" tasting soup. I ordered the beef soup and it was just okay. The broth was packed with flavor, but they just put two beef cubes inside and they were inedible. The soup itself was six dollars for a medium and was not worth it. While the flavors were there it didn't taste fresh! The horacha was your typical horacha drink you get anywhere nothing special or out of this world. The appetizer we ordered the beef empanada and it was just gross. The wrapping around the empanada was fresh but the ground beef inside looked like it came out of a can and I deemed it inedible. The white rice comes on the side of the soup and was very good. If i ever come back, which I don't think I will be, I would simply get the white rice and beans.. As this was my first experience with Honduran food I wasn't impressed and will most likely stick with my family roots of Dominican food and sancocho. I didn't finish the soup nor the empanada. The service was really good and the waitress was very sweet and kind. The restaurant is fairly large but the ambiance is just not bright or welcoming. The place was completely empty and we were the only ones eating with the bill for two over 30 dollars the food did not deliver. There are much better restaurants than El Progreso. read more

JjI can't believe they are so hungry at this El Progresso restaraunt. I ask for a snail soup and he sends me more cassava than snail. It was only a little piece and a quarter of another. And when she called, they have the courage to tell me that if I don't like it, I should vote for her as if my money wasn't worth it. In addition to all this, the manager was very unfair and rude. The injustice is incredible. How sad that they do it to their own compatriots. read more

I came here for lunch on a Friday and the place was deserted. I ordered pork tamales and while they tasted fine, I was dismayed to get one piece of pork in each; the tamales were also presented with the leaves opened. I ordered the beef soup and the meat tasted great; again, I was sad to only have two pieces of beef. Otherwise, the service was great and the employee was very kind. read more

I don't like this place. The food was cold, and they took forever to bring our food. They even got our orders wrong. we waited 20 minutes for the check and they never brought it. I am beyond upset. I order from this place on a regular basis. I created a meal yesterday and they charged me $10. I decided to order the same thing today and they tried to charge me $14. When I naturally questioned the change in price, they justified it by saying that each day is a different price and hung up on me. That is not how a businesses run. This place is horrible. My husband and I would order from there very often. But we had a delivery guy talk to me on the phone for 40 minutes because he was lost, I'm sure he was drunk. By the time we got our food it was cold. Today we ordered two orders of chicken soup because my husband was sick. It came with blood and it was red and pink. So I called for them to send us a new order. It came back exactly the same. I called a third time to get my money back. The delivery guy saw it and apologized, it wasn't his fault but the cooks. Food is great. Hits the spot when looking for authentic Honduran food. BUT, what ruins it everytime is the music jukebox. Okay, cant control who pays to to have played but the volume is ridiculous. This was a decent/below average restaurant. For pupusas, I prefer going to the people who invented them- salvadorans. But the pupusas here were okay for an Honduran restaurant. I do think they lacked some flavor. Thankfully, the tomato sauce made up for it. Other than that, I'm don't think I'll be returning here. The waitresses were dressed as if they had just returned from the gym (like really?), their customer service wasn't the best, and I hate the fact that they used plastic silverware and plates to serve pupusas. Occasionally come here to get baleadas and pupusas and zambos chips. Its not great but definitely will do the job. Last time i went along with the regular i always go there i added a tamarind juice which was sweet but refreshing and good. I hate that this place is 45 mins away from my house so the commute sucks on top of that no matter how much earlier you order your food for pick up its never ready when you get there read more

Dios mio!!! I'm a gringa but my boyfriend is Honduran and I know the difference between good/bad and authentic/non-authentic Honduran food. This place makes the cut. I ordered 3 tamales and instead of giving me that they gave me 3 pasteles. In the pastele one of them had chicken but with bone. I also ordered a pupusa if chicharrón and they never gave it to me. When I looked at what I got it was only 2 pupusas mixed. The only thing I did enjoy was the pupusas and empanadas. The empanada also had bone in it. They got the order wrong and on top of that I waited about an hour for the food. This was my first time ever eating there and now I'm very skeptical of ever eating there. Two stars because the food is great but '0' stars for the . We've been there multiple times and always the same issue SERVICE. The waitress is very rude and doesn't understand the restaurant business. Last time,Sunday my family and I gave this restaurant another shot and we went there, we order two enchiladas as a appetizer and guess what? The waitress brought it out, put it at the table and she handled one only ONE SET of plastic silverware and she walked alway, we were 5 people and we and no plates to share, I even had to go to the counter to ask for more silverware. The place was completely empty when we got there and we had to wait 20 to get our drinks request. We have for lunch a SOPA DE CARACOL, A POLLO CON TAJASAS, a order of PUPUSAS AND CARNE ASADA, the food was delicious but again, the owner have to get rid of that waitress [the heavy one] and I believe we are not the only one who have experienced that bad service form that waitress. My family and I are Honduran as the restaurant and we always go there because it is the only Honduran restaurant near to us. We will never go back if that waitress still there.
