Traveling through and in search of good coffee I referred to the SOURCE app and was impressed with Proud Hound. This place is hopping, clearly has a great reputation and seems to be the place to go. Lots of street parking and lots of space to sit and gather, including an outdoor patio. Our coffees were excellent and served beautifully in and on really cool tableware (cups & saucers). Their approach to coffee is very unique. I don't usually get coffee from here however I love their food. Today's adventure only included coffee, which was a chai latte slush. Great for the summer months and taking a walk-through Kennedy Heights in Pleasant Ridge. It's plenty of street parking or you can walk up and eat on the patio with your pup. what a cute and fun breakfast spot! we started with a cappuccino and london fog. husband said cappuccino was 10/10 one of the best he has ever had (and he is very picky)!! my london fog was probably 7/10. very middle tier not the best not the worst. for my meal i got the basic biscuit sandwich with sausage. it was very tasty! biscuit was a little on the crumbly side for my taste but overall very yummy! 8/10. my husband got the reubano sandwich and really liked it! honestly his only con was it was too big!!! 8/10. lastly we got the sage sausage and blueberry hush puppies. i wasn't the biggest fan but my husband really liked them. the blueberry was a little weird to me. i probably wouldn't order again. 6/10. overall very nice ambiance and cute place! would for sure come back! read more

This Pleasant Ridge coffee shop is an absolute vibe. I stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon for a little remote work action, and would definitely do so again! The parking was a little tricky to figure out, but I finally found a sign that said they had a lot down the street a bit. Once I got that all sorted out, there were plenty of parking spaces to choose from. You do have to cross the street to get to the coffee shop, but there's an easy-to-access crosswalk. Proud Hound is known for its coffee, but I'd already had more than enough caffeine by the time I arrived, so I went with a mug of freshly steeped peppermint tea. This was just what the doctor ordered on a cold, January day. The shop wasn't terribly busy -- and there were plenty of outlets available for anyone that needed to plug their devices in. When you place your order, ask your cashier for a Wi-Fi code. They'll print off a special login, that's good for three hours. I think that's absolutely an appropriate amount of time -- and if you're planning on staying longer than that, it makes sense that they'd ask you to purchase something else. Once connected, the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. I can't wait to return to Proud Hound to sample some of their coffee -- and their food, too! read more

The food and the vibe of the interior are great! There is plenty of seating options for those working remotely or catching up with friends. The music is always a great volume that is conducive for both. I truly hate to say it but the only downside is the service. It is quick but anytime I've gone to the counter to order, there hasn't been any warmth. I've always been polite and smile and have my order ready but end up feeling like I'm just bothering them. As a coffee fanatic, I loveee Proud Hound! It has such a good vibe and the coffee is phenomenal. I first discovered this place last year when I worked as a barista myself up in Oxford, Ohio. My co-workers there had all recommended PH, and I'm so glad they did. Proud Hound has a really lovely atmosphere, with fun artwork up on the walls and a lot of space. It is bright on the inside, and colorful. Seating options are spread out, so if you come here to do work, you'll never feel as though you're crammed. I personally appreciate the size of the tables as well, as there is plenty of space to spread out your laptop and anything else you may have. Proud Hound roasts their own beans for their coffee and it's exceptionally good. Whenever I come in, I go for an iced mocha with oat milk. I believe they make their syrups in house as well. For my visit today, I also decided to try the "Beast Feast," which came with a TON of food. It had a homemade biscuit with honey butter on the side, and that really sealed the deal for me--so good! The baristas all demonstrate a high level of care for what they do. I have had pleasant interactions with all of them, as they are all very welcoming and friendly. Such a great add to the Silverton/Kennedy Heights/Pleasant Ridge area! I have visited frequently and am never disappointed - both the food and drinks are exceptional. I appreciate that they offer more "meal" type items on their menu with their kitchen vs. just grab-and-go/pastries. I am gluten free and dairy free and all their food is marked with allergens AND they have options for replacement!! I have enjoyed their gluten free breads and vegan cheese on numerous items. My favorite dish is the Yaki Omelette Sando $12 which includes shiitake mushroom, scallion, cabbage, Japanese BBQ, vegan yum-yum, white American cheese, crispy onion on sesame toast. We love walking over here on weekend mornings, but beware this place gets PACKED! You may have to wait for a table to open up if you plan to dine in. read more

We stopped by just before closing, so unfortunately, the kitchen was already shut down, but we still had the chance to try their cortados. While they weren't the proper ratio of milk to espresso... they were leaning more toward an xs latte... the milk was steamed to absolute perfection. The texture was so velvety and creamy that it made up for the extra milk, despite being picky about our cortados, we still really enjoyed it. One thing I'd love to see is drinks served in glass for those staying in the shop. It would enhance the experience even more. That said, I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu, especially the food! A standout here is their mug selection. They sell diner-style mugs with "Cincy, OH" on them, which was a huge win for me since I collect mugs from my travels. I really appreciated that little touch! read more

This place doesn't look much from the outside but just wait! Inside is spaced out tables with the cooks in the middle. You order at the back and they will give you a number. Food came out fast and HOT. I was excited to do some much needed work on my laptop but was disappointed to hear they didn't have free wifi until after 1pm (it was the morning when I went). Never heard of this before. Luckily I was able to use my personal hotspot. Great little breakfast place for families with small kids. And you can't beat FREE street parking. The best two words I can think of to describe proud hound is "good vibes." You walk in and the decor is bright and fun. The layout is super open with a variety of seating options. When I first went in I was only planning on getting the coffee, however when I saw the menu I knew I had to eat there too! I have not had a bad thing on the menu. If you like spicy, the chicken biscuit is for you. However my favorite was the Yaki Omlette Sando. The grit tots were also a unique twist on a breakfast side, and I loved the maple ketchup that came with it! This very well could be the best coffee shop + brunch spot in the Cincy area! The building is quite large with plenty of seating options. The kitchen is in the middle of the shop so you can see all of the delicious dishes being made. The art is vibrant and the little dog decor scattered adding is a delight. My wife and I have tried several things here over the past few weekends and it's all been absolutely delicious. See the photos for a few examples. We've only tried a few drinks and they've all been great but one stood out so much that we both order it every time... I'm An Autumn. It's a seasonal drink and we'll be so sad when it's gone. It's a walk up and order system and you're on your own to find a seat but we haven't had an issue with that yet. They give you a number to put on the table and everything is brought out when it's ready. FYI: There's an easy to miss sign that says "please leave dirty dishes" on a counter tucked off to the side. I've been in coffee before but this was the first time I've sat down and ordered food. We had the kid's Golden Child, grit tots, and the Proud BLT. My husband loved his BLT...he said it's the first he's had that looked liked I true sandwich and actually filled him up. My little her eggs and bacon (which she dipped all in the maple ketchup ) but slid her potatoes my way. They were very delicious and I really liked the crisped edges that added some extra flavor. I've never had grit tots before so I was excited to try a sort of fried grit nugget. I liked the texture and outer taste of the nugget. The only thing I would have liked is if the grits were seasoned with salt and pepper before being fried. You could tell it was seasoned after, but I think would be more amazing is if that salt/seasoning came from the inside. Otherwise, it's just plain grits on the inside (and I always doctor up my grits ). I had some maple ketchup of my own with the grit tots, and I must admit I was hooked. The sweetness with the ketchup is a great addition to just about everything! Lastly, the nitro cold brew...I added a touch of vanilla and it was perfect. I love love love coffee and always look for and support Cafe's that roast their own coffee, just as Proud Hound does. The coffee is always better. Today i came with my brother, who is also a coffee aficionado, and to round it out our wives and my daughter. The Proud Hound has a nice open interior where there were many people their with computer screens up. There is also outside seating on picnic tables. We all ordered food and some form of coffee drink. All the food and drinks came out exactly as ordered and were brought to our table. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. So a good overall experience and if you like well prepared eclectic food and freshly roasted and responsibly sourced coffee drinks, and a nice place to hang out, you should definitely give Proud Hound a shot...or better yet have them give you a shot ; ) There are a few things that are worth considering. First there is no on-lot parking. You have to cross four lane Montgomery Rd to get there. There are crosswalks. The second observation is they don't have any dark roast coffees. Any coffee purist will prefer and expound on the benefits of light roasts because this highlights the subtle flavors of the coffee. That said, some people like the acidity and boldness of dark roasts. My brother prefers dark roast and was let down that even for a pour over it wasn't an option. Point three is my personal nitpick and a restaurant industry problem in general, which is the check-out counter tip option. When you check out at Proud Hound the screen gives you the option to add a tip, which I did. So the food was brought to our table but the expectation is you put away your dishes and there is no ongoing support at the table. This is a common trend but I really really dislike the counter-tip option when there is no traditional restaurant service. Just be aware and tip, or don't, according to your own preference but know what you are getting. read more

The biscuit and chicken were pretty dry. I got some honey butter and hot (as in hot sauce) maple syrup, and that only helped a little. My partner had the cheesy grits bowl; it was good, but the melted cheese was too burnt-tasting (as if it had been melted by torch) to enjoy. Hubby and I came here for burger week and had a great experience! Inside is bright and airy, and the person who took our order was really friendly and personable. She was patient with our questions, and I could tell that she wanted us to enjoy our visit. We both went with the burger week Brekkie burger, a beef patty with white American cheese, bacon-onion-pepper jam, whipped quark, arugula on a house milk bun. Their beef patty is from Fischer Farms in IN. Love locally sourced ingredients :). Whipped quark was a first for us, creamy and delicious! We also ordered the grit tots. THIS IS A MUST TRY!! You choose a side dipping sauce (we went with the yum yum). These were crispy on the outside deliciousness!! I could see coming here for coffee and a side of tots :). They have drip, pour over, and cold brew coffees, in addition to a variety of espresso drinks, plus some different types of teas that I'll have to come back and try.
